  1. Interesting how many of you chaps on here swerve a p/ex rather than kick them up the gonads for it (not criticizing) ,granted a lot of the swappers are end of life but the worst thing they can say is no if you bid low on the better or unusual stuff like this jag, and obviously it often takes their eye off the other end of the deal i.e full price.
  2. Interesting opinion from someone on the force, however you are probably underestimating the quality of some of our brokers and at the end of the day they underwrite us not the police, so as you can imagine they are the ones i take notice of. Ive been pulled over so many times down the years i must be bugged, ive had everything from pulled for driving shite to auction, been pulled because ive had rare cars on my trailer and they just wanted a look, too being pulled in high end stuff because they thought i looked like a wrong-un lol. to be fair i did used to / have a test route i did late at night which i used to test high end stuff out which involved a fast A road and return via motorway, some of this gear needs to be tested at a fair rate of knots as that was what ultimately the buyer would be doing, no use having a punter call a week later telling me he has a wheel woble at 120 clicks anyway the route involved pulling into services at the half way point and leaving on idle whilst having a coffee and smoke, usually at 12-2am i would attract plod at this point virtually guaranteed, must admit it could be fun pulling their chain a bit by offering too swap cars up to the next junction joking apart met some nice ones who were car usually car buffs. I think ive perfected it now ref trade plates - customer demo then cover numberplates and display trade plates to best possible view, carry certificate at all times- a decent underwriter gives a pocket sized wallet, always carry your mid login details (ive been sat in plodmobile and told them what i have on mid listed no problems)only put on mid whats taxed or personal use - my broker quotes this and i have a quality underwriter, regarding proof of ownership should an incident happen with a stock car that is not on mid it is irrelative if you have it invoice /dated in, if your broker / underwriter disagrees you have crap cover. Finally a tip - if your insurer insists on everything listed on mid they basically know how much they can afford to shaft you on your next renewal....
  3. Its only banter, and it is only a comment on a professional model who has accepted the job / shoot. And its pretty harmless on here and 99% trade so unlikely to be seen or offend, and with that advert she is likely hoping to pick up some more work having had good exposure, pardon the pun. And besides if we were down the pub as you say we would be exposed to more women with not much on, because that's a reality. Lighten up, you'll be telling us next katie price is misunderstood
  4. Take it this is the hams hall 4 pot petrol unit similar 1 series / mini ? had a few done on the 1 series diesel recall few years back (front rear chains / tensioner guide) but been lucky on petrol, but i trade everything anyway. Are there any issues / recalls on the later 6 pot motor 323i upwards? cheers.
  5. guess its time for you to request / view their quote / invoice, it smells fishy, its not your fault his part time gardening round is not working in winter (who would have thought....) If it was me after all this i think i would stand my ground for the time being on principal, i'm all for fareness but cant stand being hard balled by a customer, you can always throw him a refund next week if your not making progress, i would start by insisting he bring it back, its a fair request, and if you go his way its just giving him more reason to stand his ground and think your an easy touch, sounds daft but have a good look underneath too, if hes gardening he could have grounded it out easily? at this point he might still be right, but there is something not quite right with this one, keep us posted
  6. Use that to your advantage, mention £xxx to fix and offer him 500, its safe at that and will earn you a few quid traded out.
  7. It does say in the ad that she's a model and the shoot doubled up for the sellers cloth's shop, and anyway i always thought if something was in the window on show you would expect a comment
  8. It would do a 1000 -1200 at the block give or take a 100, drive it first - the drive train is not as strong on the 3.0 - can have gearbox issues same as before on s-types with higher miles.
  9. Its a strange one, those berlingo / kangoo drivetrains are pretty bulletproof easily good for 100k even with skimpy servicing, with 61k you will sell it quickly again no doubt for good money, best insist on a look first before refunding, something does not sound right here especially after you used it for 300 miles and you were happy with it, any idea's how many miles he's covered? and any idea what he's carrying / using it for? a couple of heavy full pallets would easily put a berlingo overweight hence possibly fooky clutch..
  10. Can we ask what the car is? If it was me and the car was a saleable 61k with franchise history i would refund and go again - but only after insisting it was returned for inspection, for all you know it could have been towing a searay down the coast all last weekend, ive had this lol. as mentioned its strictly a no no to not refund in full during period, however if you are fare and explain that the reality is that you have to re prep valet and its grown another owner etc then an offer minus say 3-400 will usually make customer agree knowing a refund is a coming, make a point of making them wait the full time qouta for refunding which on your part i think is 2 weeks? If you choose to fight the case start by looking into "their" garage, if they are not vat registered that can go in your favour come court day by you trumping an opinion with your vat reg garages opinion, "their" garage at this point could even be a know it all buys fook all type pub trader. being a van did you invoice it to him or a company name? i think commercial sales from company (you) to his company are outside the requirements of a warranty,
  11. typical week point on hyundai and kia after 60k, ive had one do this as low as 35k, best too trade it out whilst it's still a runner, as above if you replace the clutch the gearbox will not be far behind going too.
  12. I agree you wouldnt want a hobbyist to try it but if you see the pro's set up you would have faith, its all machines and specialist gear, the company i recommended are on another level regarding wheels, the set up is very impressive, they currently do work for bentley / aston cheltenham and i would imagine these folks dont take risks.
  13. I would tend to agree on this logic but if the right firm handles the job its fine, i would prefer a repaired OM wheel over a cheaper replaced set anyday, sadly when the dearer stuff gets damaged it does often get replaced with a cheap online set of new wheels which have nowhere near the strength of a well repaired OM wheel. hence the shock when we have all at one time asked the franchise how much one new OM wheel is, they are dear for a reason.
  14. circa 75-100 for one wheel, to get an idea of whats fixable put the wheel on your local tyre fitters balance machine, you will see the buckle, if it looks an inch out dont worry thats doable, cracks are fixable to, i had a set of quattro 18" wheels done which looked fooked on the balancer, results were perfect.
  15. A decent wheel shop refurb co will sort this out, not a mobile repairer, if you cant find one local i would recommend here for any wheel job - reinventing the wheel tewkesbury 01684291900, i've had some high end stuff with bad buckles sorted here, very good company ask for jeremy, they are quite a distance from you but a courier will solve that.
  16. 100% scam scumbags, stock pictures all lifted from elsewhere, - confirmed by fellow trader having one lifted!, they are onto it, hopefully these goons will get a visit from old bill.
