  1. I've just picked up a C3 bought on DA. I have the V5C but no green slip attached. Can this be taxed at the Post Office just using the V5C when changing keeper? Not come across this senario before...
  2. I detest the new portal. Why have they buggered around with it! My issues are as follows: 1. can't seem to load a car from valuation page anymore. This was imo the superior and easier way to load cars 2.No longer able to see all the text wording in the ad. I used this to copy and paste to our own website. Luckily new website is under construction so won't be an issue for much longer 3. This is the most serious problem SALES FLYERS. The new ones are shite. Small and feint text. Customers can't read them through the screens. They were very useful laying on the dash I've emailed my account manager about the sales flyer. It's not acceptable!
  3. Depends on the car really. I deal in smaller stuff and have really struggled lately with anything red. Not buying any more red cars unless I have to...
  4. We have just cleared 2 sitters last month Renault Twingo RS Cup 8 months Citroen C3 Auto 6 months The common denominator of both these cars...RED Longest in stock now is strangely a white Toyota Aygo 3 months. Thought it would fly out!
  5. 17 from a stock of approx 20. Well happy with that. Moved some stickers on and a couple with cracking margins The pitch is now half empty but very little to buy The norm for January...
  6. I've had a similar experience with my Mum's piece of shit low mileage Mini Cooper. I take it your has the Peugeot engine? If so he dipstick 100% goes through the chain guide. My Mum's car used to drink oil like it was going out of fashion. At least a litre every 500 miles. I was forever checking oil and topping up. One day she came in I pulled the dipstick (which is actually metal so nearly impossible to break in the tube). Topped it up and pushed the dipstick back in. But the dipstick would only go half way. After half an hour of messing about I gave up. Tried to start it but the chain was rattling it tits off. I had it trailered to a mates workshop. When they stripped it down they found the chain guide had snapped on the bend where the dipstick passes through. I got the blame for being too forceful with the dipstick! Thankfully the chain had not jumped. New chain guides etc it was fine. A month later the HPFP went. She got rid after that. Never touched a Mini since I would hazzard a guess this is what has happened to your Mini. But if the garage have run it most likely the chain will have jumped. First thing to check when you get to inspect it...does the dipstick go in and out ok
  7. Our confirmation arrived yesterday. If they do it in alphabetical order I guess we were near top of the pile
  8. This is the same situation for us. Sophisticated systems cost a fortune! I'm hoping there is a simple cost effective solution on the horizon! My accountant tells me none of 'off the shelf' software deals with the margin scheme.
  9. 9 for the month including a couple between xmas and new year. The pitch was also busy with viewings straight after boxing day Luckily a couple of decent px's. I hate paying January prices at auctions Wishing you all a prosperous new year!
  10. 5 for the month so far which isnt great but some cracking p/x's that we nicked to have a go with in the new year. Shite weather has killed it today
  11. We do well with I10's. Never seem to go wrong either just watch for those rusty tailgates. Hyundai won't repair under the body warranty they class it as mechanical issue! Go figure... £2295 it should fly out, would have been £2495 with history imo
  12. Worked for me this morning I looked at total cars for sale on AT yesterday. Showed 494462 cars for sale Just checked AT now it's up to 504081 Approx another 10 k cars
  13. +1 I sometimes give punters a copy of the workshop invoice for mechanical prep. It's very rarely appreciated But show a punter a nice clean, dent and scratch free shiney car and they do appreciate it...and buy
  14. November started well for us but tailed off to NOTHING. Blank week this week Doesn't bode well for December when we usually get a few away Just done the VAT return that was depressing On the upside more time on our hands to buy and prep for January
  15. G101 from Autosmart. Might not be the cheapest but you can dilute to suit your taste That QX stuff from ECP is shite IMO
  16. Current sticker is... Renault Twingo RS Cup in red. No air con is the issue with this I think! In the past... Saab 9-5 Diesel in stock nearly 2 years! Gearbox ate itself a month after we sold it
  17. I knew a trader who did this constantly...back in the day
  18. Same here. I think the double stock offer is possibly one of the factors driving prices at the moment
  19. Like I said if there is any doubt I get my MOT station to ramp it and if it's a scrapper then off to the knackers yard it goes. We would never sell a dangerous vehicle. There is a difference between dangerous and a car with a few faults Does anyone use Redcorn for scrappers? Paying good money at the moment. £180 for a Vectra this week. Best money I've had for a scrapper in a long time
  20. What a great car. I have a fondness for petrol Volvos Just taken an 850 2.3 T5 Auto in chop. scruffy but a lovely old thing. Shows 188k miles but the mileometer doesn't work so who knows how many it's done Goes really well...that 5 cylinder engine is a peach. So many switches in it... I'll shut up now

I'm dreading January with prices as they are now!
  22. Exactly Why throw away profit We do the following: Wash and hoover, drive 20 miles,if any doubt get workshop to ramp it Usual photos with pictures of all the damage, list every single thing we can find wrong Advertise spares and repair for the stuff with with faults eg EML light on etc The downsides are fielding phone calls of non english speakers but you can be as rude as you like. Quite amusing sometimes! When they turn up no need to spend anytime, just chuck the keys at them and say let me know. You almost have to put them off buying When they buy ask them to sign a copy of the advert with all faults listed(this bit covers you according to TS) Recent examples: Rusty 07 KA with 6 months ticket £100 given in chop sold in 2 days £400 02 Lupo Auto with a months ticket,EML light on and oil leak £200 given in chop to do the deal sold in 4 days £400 I have never had one back yet, % margins are wonderful! But if you do get a screamer refund and scrap it
  23. We were on Ebay Motors for a number of years. Good for selling cheapie part ex stuff with declared faults. However very few leads from proper customers. Contract expired in July they wanted a price increse so we finished it. Last month Ebay phoned to offer 20 car deal for Ebay and Gumtree at previous price (£175 plus VAT) for 3 months So we thought give it a go Results so far......not a single lead from ebay for a retail car but still shifts the sub £1000 shitters Very doubtful we will renew again
