I disagree, by clearing out the fault, (EGR), his "mate" has allowed him to drive it longer with light off and not in limp, thus blocking the DPF to chokka level However, yes, much easier to just get the bloody Car back to base and fix it, rather than all the hassle, and also other garages chiming in and wanting 15 hours etc etc etc EGR was obviously the original, and still present fault, the fact that DPF is now blocked is because dick head has been driving it around with an EGR faulty, so the Car will not auto regen
-
Absolutely
-
Absolutely He didn't fix it, he made matters worse, see my advice above Hell, here I am giving out tech advice to a noob, by fuck it is boring waiting on Primer Drying before Basing and Clear coating a set of Alloys for my Workshop Van, I normally go down the pub on a Sunday LOLOLOL /\ /\ /\ Like

His dick head mate probably just used a chinese OBD to reset the codes, which you could argue would then lead to the car not re genning and not putting an EML back on for however many drive cycles that car needs to reset monitors. However, personally I couldn't be arsed with a load of legal or letter writing hassle, I would clean that DPF in my workshops, and buy and fit a good used DPF. DPF's will usually not regen if there is an airflow problem or an EGR problem (affects airflow). If you have your own workshops it will cost less than £100 in bits and a few hours time !! Whoever said 15 hours is a piss taking cunt, I could do that lot in a morning !! Hell, if you fix the fault it may well do a forced regen without the need to take dpf off and clean the bugger
-
BTW a deep clean on DPF and a good used EGR does not cost £1500

/\ /\ /\ Agree. Here's something constructive ........................ You have sold a Car which obviously has developed a fault, why don't you behave like the reputable company you say you are and just fix the bloody car and move on !! Pissing off customers and not getting a good reputation is the quickest way to destroy a business Once again "What goes around comes around"
-
Coffee - Screen absolutely brilliant, made my day
-
LOL you're right there, but it's still crap It's a bit like VW Diesels, they've sold milligones, but they're still shite
-
(can't resist) ................ Sings .................... "in Bethlehem so the Holy Bible says" No offence to those of us who attend on a Sunday, but That Holy Bible was a load of crap too, perhaps a "long time ago" all his Bunters dried up 'cos they didn't like paying for test drives
-
/\ /\ /\ Like Trouble is, a lot of these noob steppers are as DH just said, prepared to pay more at Auction just to make £200, but then when it all goes tits up they are crying and don't wanna fix it because they are losing money...................... OK they won't be around long trading that way, but they do make it harder for the rest of us, who do have overheads It doesn't matter what profession you're in, there's always a clown who can do it cheaper these days Personally, I don't buy anything from main stream Auctions nowadays, haven't done for years, I have a fairly unique buying strategy which works for me with my Workshop facilities. TBH the only thing I really need now is a (much) bigger Workshop, perhaps with a staff member or 2, but that's a can of worms in itself
-
Yeah, easier with your own Workshop and Trade Accounts, yeah, I get old fellas trying to pay me for sticking in an RB501 lol Depending on price and availability, most likely a good used one, but as most of my newer stock is sub 70k miles, never had one fail Ohhhhh, Benji, those fuckin'Vauxhalls, why do you bother, you'd be better off breaking them and selling all the bits to the local Chavs on a Saturday Afternoon I would never buy one, and if I ever took one for px, it would be either sold SOR or scrapped.

LOL, I'm 56 so I could be

Unless it is blatantly driver error, (chucked down a ditch, run out of oil after suitable mileage, etc), then at 3 months / 3000 miles I will repair anything on an RTB Basis, (stated on my invoice), and up to 6 months / 6000 miles I will repair non "Service Items / Wear and Tear Items. I PDI them thoroughly, if I don't think Brakes, Tyres, etc have 3000 miles in 'em, they get changed !! I would put a bulb in a car FOC up to 6 months. It's just good Customer Relations. 99 % of my Customers are repeat business, and out of around 65 sold this year I've only had one back, 2008 Focus 1.8, billy done 2000 miles and just over 3 months in, it lost all compression on No2 cyl, no sign of being cooked or owt !! As soon as he rang me my reply was "No problem sir, bring it straight back I will look at it for you. Inside a week he had it back...................... Guaranteed Used Engine sent to me on a pallet £350 plus an easy days work, Oil / Filter / A/Freeze was all it cost me, guy was over the moon, recommended me to a fella who just bought a 2011 C Class Wagon off me recently !! I'll tell any of you "What goes around comes around" The other thing is, if you are one of the Dealers who think you can sell Cars for smaller profits than the well established traders, think again !! This is why we get moaning and groaning, you need a good profit to make sure you don't lose money on any come backer quackers Also, selling old shitters with more than 75k Retail is just asking for grief, especially smaller engined stuff. Much prefer a slightly more leggy luxo that a 1.0 small car *75k miles

You should try a clicky, once you've learned to get your revs right on the downshifts they are like 1/2 second shifts, upshifts she cuts the ignition at preset rpm for a split second as you pull the stick, I only ever use the clutch on the rally car at start and finish line Actually 1/2 second is too much, thinking about it more like milliseconds

And then we learn that the "It's had a full service sir" that is said to the prospective Billy actually means "If your lucky it got an Oil and Filter Change with Lidl oil" , or "it had a misfire so we changed one of the plugs" Just like there is some decent bunters out there there are also some right dodgy car dealers too, having both the workshop and sales I see both sides of the coin Car in here today, guy has had it 3 weeks, 150 miles, and 75 of them was driving it home from a well known Dealer in Inverness........................ PDI'd, Full 'B' Service, blah blah blah, yak yak yak, some very pretty and impressive looking paperwork bullshit mind !! He's looking for a second opinion on a strange and nasty noise, absolutely fuck all oil in the Gearbox, box now shagged, drained less than a teacup full of silver shite out of it !! Dealer is screaming wear and tear / abuse, incorrect driving technique, squirrel stuck up the exhaust etc etc etc, simply doesn't want to know, didn't even want to look at the Car !! I also found new pads fitted in one side at front, and 4mm on the other side, different make, obviously the old ones, plus 2 absolutely hanging fucked lower swivels, yet it has fresh MOT !! Yep really good dealer, twats like that gives us all a bad name The guy wanted a written report from me, but I declined. I have said before, I don't get involved in that shite. I simply advised him to call RAC and get it inspected by them, then recovered back and tell them to fix all issues properly, or refund him !! \/ \/ \/ Exactly +1 -
I spent a while up here helping out a mate by driving a School Mini Bus, 5 kids from a remote village to the Local Primary !! I hated the screaming first thing in the morning, until I discovered that by leaving a £1 bag of toffees in the back of the Vito it was quiet all the way to School BTW, it's different where I live, but if you live in England or a big City I don't suggest you give other peoples kids sweeties

Plug Leads on a Vauxhall ???????????????????? Yes, do not be too hasty drive it a little, but on Vauxhalls 99.9% of Misfire cylinder 2, (P030x), so 2 in your case, but could be 1,3 or 4 as well, will be Coil Pack. Always change the Plugs too, as if one's been misfiring it will likely be fooked, and none of us are that tight we'd only change one plug now are we

The only Manuals I own are my Workshop Van and my Stage Rally Car which has a six speed clicky (sequential) If \i ever replace that Van I'll buy an Auto version but they are few and far between up here, all the sweatys prefer manuals
-
LOL, the old fella was referring to brand new Cars, back in the days before leasing at £299 p/m, and I think these days that does actually depend on where you live and what you drive, unless of course it's nicked I'm no expert but I think the reason you do so well out of late Prestige stuff is because of your location, you'd be a lot harder pushed in a less affluent area To some extent yes depending on the exact model and spec ;) No need for Manuals these days with 7 to 10 speed autos, especially with tippy and paddles
