  1. I don’t think writing to the courts is a bad thing, just make sure you keep all the evidence.

Unfortunately I think this will go to court. You just need to make sure you are seen to be doing the right thing, and you can prove it.

I.e offered him the money back following an inspection etc. He is the one being unreasonable not you. The judge won’t care who replied to who or who hasn’t read letters etc. The judge will just look at the facts. You have offered a refund, however following a suspicious set of events you want an inspection first. That’s perfectly reasonable.

Contacted courts they have advised us he will need to start a new case as his application to reinstate was declined. Didn't write glow plugs issue on invoice but do have the text messages before he put down a deposit saying there is a fault with them and we have not had it looked at as we dont invest sufficient time in part exchange stock. How do we know the garage didn't snap the glow plugs while trying to change them?

They probably did but you won’t be able to prove it so I’d forget about that.

The car sounds like a fucking shed.

Refund the customer, put the car in the bin and remember that this has never happened in 10 years and put it down to experience and move on?

I don’t agree. Why should he give in? This bloke might be in bed with the mechanics, buying cars from dealers, stripping them for parts then getting a full refund?

I would accept the car back and have a mechanic with you to give a neutral assessment of the vehicle upon its return. If it’s been played about with then use the report in court.

10yr ago we had a Mini Cooper S come in to buy one of our cars...................... we knew NOTHING about these MIni it had a John Cooper works Badge on it valued it and did his deal..............................Punter comes in on our John Cooper Works Mini and he was fully geeked up on this car and embarrassed us thoroughly when he was able to point out it was  just a badge and none of the engine adaptations to make it a works vehicle, We blew £2000 on that one................ you learn

Lol yes, I’ve had this before. They both show as ‘Cooper S’ on the hpi. The Works is turbo charged rather than the usua supercharged (amongst a few other things).

    Nick,

IMHO the Autel is a much better machine than Launch, which is better than Snap On, in the same price bracket of course ;)

If you are replacing your Solus I'd be looking at the Autels around £1000 mark ;)

I use the Launch x431 V+ pro. In my opinion it is superb. Does everything and uses a wireless OBD connector so you can be working in the engine bay whilst reading live data.

Remember your guide pricing is based on the bible "PARKERS GUIDE"  don`t you let any one else tell you different, Them auctioneers do not know what they Are talking about, You stick to your parkers guide and you will be fine

First by bmw which stated it needs valve stem seals. How they diagnosed that on a VHC I have no idea

This is noticable by blue smoke from exhaust. I assume this is a 2.0l 4 cylinder engine?
