  1. You could talk to the Mrs!
  2. I'd say theres always a point. some will come back to you, many won't. I would be stunned if anyone on here can claim to have never, ever sold a car to someone where the enquiry started as an email. Although it seems rare for it to go all the way through without meeting them or talking to them, many deals do start as an email.
  3. Take it off sale for a week, reclean, re photo, price differently (sometimes my hits go up if its say 3487 rather than 3495) and change the strap line. Make sure the colour shows well in the pics (i've had it a couple of times and sold well), I guess as a CAT N, it has to be well priced vs other cars locally, but theres a bum for every seat.
  4. Hi Joe I dont know how much your redundancy is, but it will have a bearing on how this is going to work out for you. As a new starter, you will be buying from scratch. lets say that you want to sell 5 cars a month. To do this, you will need to be advertising about 10 cars. If thats your starting point, assume that you are paying an average of 2 k each car ( any less and its hard to make a reasonable margin consistently), you should be able to retail for 2995. Prep. allow 200 per car. Valet, 40 Insurance - from 2k upwards. Trade plates £165. So thats about 25k to start with. if you sell 5, you will get about £2500 profit, assuming that you are honest with the VAT man. Bear in mind advertising costs etc. And you will need to have a cash reserve for the recon you dont expect, warranty pot, other bills etc. I came into this 7 years ago with 15 years main dealer experience of sales and sales manager experience. I still dont earn as much as I did in the main dealer. But I do have a better work/life balance.
  5. How many cars would it hold? Sounds like a big jump in overheads if you're paying very little at the moment
  6. Bad Area normally equals higher insurance - so bear that in mind re overall costs, also business rates etc. Its more than just the unit price that matters. Also consider location of bodyshops, workshops etc. A customer will look around as they travel to you - If they dont feel safe as they get near you, it can have an impact on how the sale is likely to go.
  7. An Ibiza with a black box or a 'flash merc' with your mates............. How far are you going??? I recommend travelling between 1030 and 1045, Popmaster will ease the boredom
  8. I'll Find out! Did find a smaller VX garage a little further away who has booked them in for next thursday, thats a lot better.
  9. Just bought 2 zafiras and checked the 'outstanding recalls' on MOT history. Both have one outstanding, which is the heater issue. Earliest date I can get them booked in locally? September 3rd. Anyone else had this sort of lead time?
  10. Rights and wrongs of EVs? All I'm bothered about is being able to get where I want, when I want, which is the same as when I bought a £300 Datsun Cherry when I was 17. And 90% of Joe Public are the same. As long as I can sell profitably, thats all that matters, and EVs will be profitable, some more than others, as is the case now. Are they the right things to have? From a direct pollution (the fumes at the roadside) perspective absolutely. As an example, we were away in our caravan over may bank holiday and the chap next door had turned up in his w reg MG Midget. When he drove it past my kids (10 and 8 years old) were covering their faces because of the fumes. And thats what we all grew up with. So we've come a long way, because a new petrol or diesel is so much better than that, but when it goes that bit further with all the EVs how much nicer will that be? Unless you live next to the coal power station producing the electricity.......
  11. No Set percentage, but can be messy. Try to buy it outright instead. If its sale or return, they may ask for it to be returned after you have done some recon (PDI, Valet as a minimum) and advertising costs, thats ignoring your time. I'd avoid the notion of sale or return personally, they want it to get more money off you than you may ordinarily give. And dont forget, its YOU who will be sorting out any future problems. This forum is littered with stories of cars going wrong even after theyve gone through a rigorous process. this person will not be helping you if you need it, so dont feel like you need to help them.
  12. I'd try the GD 7 Airbox.
  13. I would think you can retro fit the LED lamps. I would make sure you by the cheapest LED available on Ebay. And make sure it comes from China.
  14. I've been cold called by these guys who will apparently list all my stock on facebook marketplace for £25 per month, with a 1 month free trial. Doesnt sound expensive, wondering if anyone else uses them?
  15. a large inflatable gorilla and a 'windy man'
  16. Take it back to the guy who fitted it. Hopefully its a 'no problem, I'll sort it ' mechanic.
  17. whoever she may be its an improvement on what has gone before
  18. Is it supposed to move forward? Not all of them do if its a basic model I seem to remember
  19. Just Give it back. And if your boss is the decision maker, its down to him to deal in person with it. Not You. Time wasted over a deposit when you should be selling the car to someone else. Me? I NEVER take a deposit before someone has seen the car. Its amazing how quickly they can get to see it when they realise someone could buy it before them. But then its just me here so I'm not competing with other salesman(and women). And Id rather not let a billy put a car on hold till they can get their finger out and come to look at it.
  20. theres a bum for every seat. i10 sells (in my experience) to people who dont care about cars. cheap to run is all theyre bothered about. Minis? Each to their own....
