That info doesnt come up on post office computer

She said maybe because its changed hands too often in little time hence dvla might put marker on

If the car is in trade you can tax it at the post office.

If it’s not, then it may well show up as already being taxed, then the post office will not be able to tax it.

It might not come up at the post office if it’s in trade. It’s just a “Yes we can” or “No we can’t”

I think the problem may be how you’ve filled out the V62. Should have just ticked section 3  Why can’t you produce a V5c? It’s been lost or stolen. No need to say anything else.

Excuse the stupid question - I've got a serious case of brain fade!

Correct way to account for a backwards deal? my car SIV at 5k including my reconditioning costs etc for retail at 6k customers car worth 7k so did the deal and 1k to the customer.

Paid VAT  last quarter on the profit from the deal on "my car " i.e 1k

Do I stand the unsold backwards stock car at 5k + 1k  or 6k+ 1k?

    Thanks for any help

Whatever is says on the invoice!

great idea with the charity ...

“Buy a car from us on one of our tailored finance packages and we will donate all our commission to Nacmans children’s charity”

Or even “supporting XXXX children’s charity “

  4. We have talked about this on a previous post.

He, for personal reasons, doesn’t want to make any money on the finance.

I think you just need to ring the likes of Blue or Close Brothers. I’m sure they are used to dealing with dealers with similar views.

Or, as I said previously, ask them to donate the commission to a charity of your choice. I think this could be a selling point if you are supporting a local children’s charity for instance.

Sold a cooper s to a good mate over the weekend. He has just rang me to say oil light flashing and its overheating. Oil light flashing so likely blocked pick up pipe if im lucky no engine damage but then if its overheating it might be new engine time anyway :rolleyes:

Couldn't have been that good a mate if you sold him one of them!

  6. Got 2 at the moment

An Astra 1.4 Turbo burning so much oil I could stick an Audi/VW badge on it! Needs an engine probably £1000 loss

A Passat 2.0 diesel blowing light smoke out the back after a couple of miles. Tried all sorts. Lastest guess is a DPF. Main dealer only, £1500 (that won't be happening) £2000 + loss

I think I might be trying too hard.

I know the road tax is emission based . But something I often thought about was say take an 55 plate Peugeot 307 1.6 Hdi with 129g/km of emissions take a similar 59 plate Peugeot  207 Hdi with 119g/km

the 55 plate costs £125 to tax for 12 months being 129g/km

the 59 plate cost £30 to tax for 12 months being 119g/km

to me it looks like the same 1.6 hdi engine right up till a late 2010 where they changed it 110g/km costing £20

The mechanic the does our work also said he's even put a salvaged engine in a newer 59 207 from an 05 307

so my question is what did Peugeot do to lower the emissions on the newer cars for what effectively looks like the same engine even down to covers etc although i may be wrong someone more technically minded than me will know the answer ..

    Sortware?

    Gear ratio?

    Tyres?

    Aero?

Remember the old Astra Eco4 from 2001/2. They were only £30 a year tax, and @ 80mpg. Everything else in the range was a lot more to tax and a lot less economical. It was different to the rest of the range for all the above. Quite rare (for an Astra) My paintman still can't kill the one I sold him for £300 5 years ago.

Trade insurance is a mine field , find a Broker is best advice , one that suits me wont suit you .

You dont have to warrant a car at all if you dont want , various companies exist fro 3rd party to self funded

CAP To buy and Glasses to Sell , that's an interesting concept  . never heard that one .

Another spambot resurrecting a 3 year old thread!:P

We're going to be doing a piece on punters and part ex's. Specifically has anyone got any good stories about the kind of tricks that punters pull to hide problem with a PX... names will of course be changed to protect the innocent !

    What do you mean?

All customers are honest upstanding citizens and would never do such a thing.

    It's those secondhand car dealers!!

Nothing exciting its an old m3 2 door but engine has been tinkered with and all the interior ripped out roll cage in and side ways we go.

    Hope you kept the bits.

Put it back together and make a fortune!

  11. Some religions don’t believe in benefiting from lending money.

If that is the case would it be acceptable to either put it through at the lowest rate your provider allows and don’t earn any commission or get the provider to donate any commission to a charity of your choice.
