Same here, even old bangers going silly.

slightly off topic but who is actually buying the old shite? And more importantly how is anyone making a profit? We was watching 03-04 plate meganes fetching £500-£600 + fee’s at bca this week, I mean come on, plenty of bangers like that can be found for a couple of hundred quid online.

How times have changed, I remember going to BCA twenty years ago and auctioneers not even being able to give stuff like that away, “anyone got any loose change?” was a common phrase used.

I'm always thinking this, there is no way surely that by the time fees go on top you can make a profit after further prep and valeting etc.

wheres the car now? have you bunged it in the corner?

Gone for an engine mount due to excessive vibration running through the car and to investigate a lack of power at 70mph plus, which I've found out today is the turbo........ Hmmm..... Wonder why he got rid of it.

  3. I keep getting calls with the "enquiry from Autotrader" intro which gets me excited........... Only for it to be some guy saying in a thick Irish accent "hello dere its Shane calling from handler protect".

Autoraper rep keeps emphasising how we are doing so well with our enquiries, half of them are from tinkers trying to flog us warranties!

    He won’t reply.

He is currently playing on LinkedIn.

For those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s a game played out on a social media platform whereby the players peacock with fancy job titles and boast about salaries etc... in the hope that they get “headhunted” to a different job with a better job title.

    Hahahaha :D

I've often thought this. What we regard as a £1500-2000 cheap run around, for others it's their hard earned money. No reason why they should get a problematic car or that they get given a filthy car because it's "cheap"

No reason why they should get a problematic car i agree however expectations differ between their "new" car and an actual brand new vehicle. Often the stuff such as this may be just ten percent of its equivalent new price however punter still believes it should be as new. Most of these people have unrealistic expectations and think that as it's been bought from a forecourt they can bring it back no matter what happens.

Well I have all that mate, I know what I need to sell, for how much and how often. Just a case of whether I can do it or not, or at least, maintain my start to all this. Fortune does favour the brave but fools rush in...

Watching your progress so far you'll sail it.

I'm going to look at a spot of hardstanding tomorrow that a bloke wants £800pm inc for, its 3,200sq ft and has a portakabin. There's also a workshop that will take 3/4 cars and he wants £700pm inc for that.

I'm shitting myself about taking on something like that but it's the next logical step and if I have the workshop, the smart repairs, valeting and photographing won't be interrupted by crap weather and 3 hours of day light which will soon be upon us.

The scallies could persuade him not to

You can tell I've watched too many episodes of the sopranos

Start watching "narcos" james then "Pablo Escobar el patron del mal" on Netflix! Honestly it will enhance your life!

  8. I've had them leave a deposit as the car is a good price, right colour and spec etc, held car for a week only for the numpties to turn up and try to start negotiating the price......... I'd had the sense to keep the numbers of other enquiries in the meantime so told the original customer to do one and also sold the car the same day to another person.

  9. Ah them were the days, astra gte's 8v and 16v versions, nova gte then gsi's, cavalier Sri 130's then cavalier gsi etc calibra turbos............they'd be a thief's dream too. Wasn't a Vauxhall man myself but remember them well, as others have said they are considered collectors items now if you have a minter. I had a fiesta rs turbo in white once, lovely car in it's day.

What platforms if you don't mind?

Crazy how expensive AutoTrader is in comparison to the rest. I'm only on the PAYG package (3 weeks for £69?). How long do you get on the proper package?

At 23 plus 4 budget, eBay mp, cargurus, motors and exchange and fart. On the proper package as you call it its just a set price every month for the amount of vehicles quoted above. I'd love to be able to get along without having to use it but as others say on here ultimately it does sell cars.

  11. Mr Clarke (or whatever your surname may be), don't take this the wrong way however can i genuinely ask if you get the prices you advertise for? Just spotted you have a polo like i have in stock, now autoraper says this should reta2for 4800, your price is 5800 and that's with 695 off? Very interested to hear your answer to this as it will certainly make me think about our pricing.
