A lot of newer stuff at auction is falling under the no service history. The amount of Mercs/Audis and BMWs that don't have service history yet you ring the dealer and get told it has full service history all because it's 'online'.
-
Do you guys pay for this? We trialled it for 2 months and it seemed like it did have a positive effect but that's mostly by there own statistics which seems a bit 'happy'. Obviously everytime you search for a car, the default is sponsored listings so are the general public staying or clicking cheapest first?

Can I ask about your FFRR? Is it yours or are you selling it for someone? The reason I ask is i've got one for sale which is pretty much identical but grey and mine is £43k. I can't see yours on Autotrader?
-
I wouldn't do it. (Well I would because it's the sort of stuff I would sell) but I wouldn't be trying to sell a £20k repmobile from home if your other stock is around the £5k mark and can't offer finance. (going on from the above posts). Pay £20k for it and advertise it at £23k.. Sits on your drive for a month, reduce it down to £22500. Other dealers offer finance. Minimum of £500 in costs I really wouldn't do it. I've tried with this sort of car and it doesn't work unless it is atleast £1k less than the main dealer. We typically sell £20k-£50k cars and get people asking us to sell circa £100k cars for them, It just doesn't fit if you only have one at that price point. Look on AT and see how long similar cars have been for sale. There are so many C-class Mercs around now that it's very hard to distinguish between the specs.

I split it with him. £250 back. He also told me he's put another 5k miles on the car and damaged a door since I saw it. (his PX) Oh well.

I sold a car about 2 weeks ago, the guy came and looked at it, test drove etc. We agreed a PX price for his car and he left a deposit as he needed to get the private plate off his first. I called him about a week later as I hadn't heard from him and he tells me he's now in Scotland as he had to go up and look after a poorly family member. Tells me he will be back some time in January and I can either refund his deposit or keep the car for him until then. I told him that's not possible to keep the car that long. The deposit was £500 and he said to send some of his deposit back but not sure on how much (if any). I then got an email last night saying he will be back on the 14th Feb and if I can't keep it until then, he wants his deposit back. What would you guys do? I don't believe for one minute he's just gone up to Scotland for nearly 3 months and his biggest concern is his deposit.

I had a guy ring me up about one of my Range Rovers, spoke for about 10 minutes confirming everything as it's the 'perfect spec'. Tells me he's only half an hour away and is leaving right now. 25 minutes I get a AT enquiry from him asking some of the questions he had already asked so assume he didn't realise it was the same company he had just spoken to. Time wasters really do piss me off. Anyone else get a lot of people who ring up and ask the price/mileage etc as if they had just randomly rang a number in hope?

Do you mind if I ask what you import? I'm happy if you just give an example rather than a specific car if you don't want to say.

Are you talking about Jap cars or just in general? We aren't doing anything with Jap cars so interested to see a bit more info if it's for everything?

We (potentially) lose out on quite a few customers who want us to deliver unseen. No matter how much faith I have in the car, I just won't do it. There will always be the "Oh there's a 1cm scratch at the bottom of the door, I want a full refund under the consumers right act...." Just not worth it for us.

We are currently in the process of importing two cars from the UAE. What do you want to know?

Had another phonecall from Motors today. Woman on the phone. Great.... THEN "I know this is cheeky but would you take £18k cash for XYZ?" Cars up for £24k

Since signing up, i've had 2 calls. Both from the same bloke expecting a different price for his PX from the last time I told him. At this rate, i'll definitely not be carrying on with it.

It's amazing how many different ways to do it. I see so many cars direct from main dealers (mainly VAG) who don't even have the normal number plate on display and instead just have their 'Audi' plate then just have the trade plate in the windows. Some cover the original plate and then some have them hanging from the boot. A simple paragraph on their site detailing how they need to be displayed would be the answer to everything.

Anyone else always dread getting a call from a customer they've recently sold a car to? My latest is a guy who bought an RS6 last week, thought he heard a weird noise from the rear brakes and took it to a specialist to check it out and they've found; Oil leak- common issue but was fixed by Audi last year. Corroded water pipes. intercooler leaking. These sort of calls should really make me stop selling these sort of cars. Bye bye profit...
-
Well I've been with them about 2 weeks now. The only call i've had is from them making sure the number works haha. Honestly, the only site I actually get anything from is AT.

I think we should start a thread so we can all see what value stock, how many, where in the country, proper forecourt or selling from home etc. Think it would be good just to how different we all are.

Scrape as much off as you can, key it up, mask the area (big area) and buy some wrinkle paint and blend it out. Will be 100 times better than that and will barely be noticeable/take your eye away from it.

Sold 3 cars yesterday/today. That makes my month total sales up to 3. No more toast for me tonight!!!
-
I'd love to be able to buy a car like that and take it to a main dealer and they'd pay circa £10k more than its worth for it. I take it he accepted and tried to keep a straight face??
-
Ah. Customer just turned up and asked to PX his Golf R. He wants £25k for it, CAP is £20k and retail is £23k-£24k.

Worst month by far! Had a guy ring me about 5pm yesterday about coming to view a car this morning. Thought to myself i'll ring him before I set off as i've had bad experiences with people like him before (Eastern European)(Not racist etc just they don't tend to actually stick to their word). Rang him at half 8 this morning... "No i'm working today". Had another guy come and test drive a car on Friday. Was with me for about an hour and afterwards he told me he's really interested and he'll definitely call me on Saturday. NOPE!

The two biggest reasons are that they push a finance company who thrive off people with poor credit and the second being this... This car could be written off, stolen or have outstanding finance It's not the sort of company that I like to deal with. Oh and according to the posts on the AT forum, they list how long the advert has been live for. Do they just get this info directly from AT's URL?
-
AT has a forum? Found it. I'm definitely in the same camp as them. I don't want any of my stock listed on their site.
