  1. Wondering how many people are aware that garages are still failing some older cars with EML on. Talking to my MOT tester the other day and he wasn’t aware that diesel cars registered before 1st July 2008 and petrol cars registered before 1st July 2003 are excerpt from this test. I’m still seeing cars failing that shouldn’t be tested for this because of their age. How many people have had a car fail when it shouldn’t of? I had a customer only this week with a car I sold her years ago have this happen. MOT stations need to be made aware of this. I have checked a few of these older cars recently to find they have failed for engine management light on. I wish I knew the owners contact details but since I sold them they have changed hands. Please remember if it’s a diesel before July 1st 2008 or petrol before July 1st 2003 it’s not a failure if light is permanently on.
  2. Thanks guys for your help. I’ve bought it. I offered him below cap average and he accepted. Hopefully I can do well with this. I’m putting it up for £4295 .
  3. I’ve had a repeat customer come in today with this mx5 I sold him 7 years ago. He wants to get shot of this as the novelty has worn off. He has become more a friend over the years and bought around ten cars off of me. This doesn’t mean I want to give strong money for this lovely convertible hard top with 54k 2007 on a 56. 2000 sport. I told him he will do better selling privately but he is adamant he don’t want all the hassle and wants me to buy it. I haven’t had a convertible for a long time as I never done well with them so my question is what would you offer him for this. I have a figure in mind. It’s grey and fairly near immaculate, 2 owners with history. Thanks guys and by the way I’ve sold 3 this week, that’s the best I’ve done all year and it’s only Wednesday.
  4. Always done it online. It’s simple. I always get the original plate back. I had a naff plate once and tried my luck selling to a number plate firm. They gave me about 400 quid for it. It wasn’t even good number.
  5. You must of found a good auction if cars were going for trade money. Where is it? Every auction I attend or any car I bid on always ends up £500 + over trade price. never have time to sit in them or do any checks. The drivers unlock, get in and drive it through. I look on it as being a professional gambler. Some you win, some you lose. I’ve never looked at paperwork before auction starts. I shouldn’t think my auctions would like that. I’d advise to buy private like the bloke in the DM. He bought an Audi TT for 1100 and had it up for 3850 an hour later. Now that’s the way to do it.
  6. I have just had a call from my insurance telling me the accident I had which wasn’t my fault is being pursued by the guilty party for compensation. The Police and Ambulance attended the injured person and had a go at the parents for not taking full responsibility for a minor at the scene for running out in front of me. It was a side street with cars parked bumper to bumper. I was doing 22mph in a 30 when this little kid runs out. The emergency services inspected the car and I had a breath test and drugs test. I was there for 1 and a half hours of wasted time. The main concern for me was the child. The Police have closed the case and told me the injured party was very lucky I was a sensible driver and I shouldn’t worry about it. They was discharged from hospital a few hours later with cuts and grazes. I can’t get over that I have been proved innocent with no further action being taken. Im the one who has felt dreadful and down yet now I have the prospect of inflated insurance cost. Traders insurance is enough without this. I have been trading 30 years and never had as much as a parking ticket. I am sick of this where there’s a claim rubbish. Rogues prepared to commit fraudulent insurance claims and we have to pay the penalty for their negligence.
  7. I had the same and a transmission fluid change cured it.
  8. I use to deal with cat c, now cat s and cat d now cat n. I had many cars with just bumper damage and and broken headlight which was cat d or c there didn’t seem to be any pattern to which were a d or c. Sometimes it was not economical to let the insurer have a courtesy car for three weeks on a 2 grand car so it’s written off. I once had a Clio with very light front damage, bumper, grill, and number plate. Bonnet and radiator was untouched. It was a 4K car so why was it a total? Try explaining to the billy it was only light. They think your trying to have one over them. I’ve seen worse damaged cars been repaired and not on the register. If you understand it there are bargains to be had. My biggest gripe is majority of totalled cars come with one key and no history.
  9. Thanks. It's just a car we have had years and used to hire to cart stuff from site. Light been on and off for years but the best runner I've ever had.
  10. I heard the mil light has no need to work on cars registered before 31st July 03. So it will pass if it is on ? Is this correct?
  11. Just taken a lovely polo in p/x. The 2nd this week but both have no air. Both 12 plates with nice miles but not so sure now the summer's coming. I havn't had a car without a/c for years and didn't know they still made them without. Do I need to buy these two a Xmas card ? Or anyone have any luck with these? I normally stick to the jap stuff Toyota, Honda,Mazda etc
  12. I never do well when putting anything through the block unless I’ve nicked it. I can watch a vehicle make say 3 grand and I can have an identical one same mileage, condition, and year and mine will make a grand less. Just put it on e bay, facebook or gumtree and be honest and list all faults. Selling at bca is like chucking money down the drain.
  13. Same here never had any come back on mine with a near to floor bite. Better than right at the top.
  14. I had the same issue. I was told tyres were ok until I went to an old guy who had been in the tyre industry for years . He told me definately tyre. I paid up under protest thinking it can't be, and as true as his word the vibration at 60 mph had gone .
  15. Mark 101 , that’s exactly my thoughts. Stalker, no I am sitting here on a Sunday afternoon posting this as I’m only curious and my insurance company in closed. Otherwise I would of course rang them first. Just thought I’d ask as some trader might have been here before. The trouble I have is trying to explain to a 17 year old that the 3 series and Land Rover will cost you thousands to insure. It’s a fiesta or aygo my girl.
  16. My daughter is approaching 17 and keen to get behind the wheel. Lots of her friends have provisional licences and are on their parents insurance for their private car. Can my daughter learn in one of the vehicles I have that is on my traders policy? I have a stock car I always use before retailing so thought she may be able to go out with me in this. Her friends have paid £80 ish for 100 days cover of which days they can choose as long as the vehicle is insured by the owner. Apparently you can choose 1 day to be insured then maybe take another day in say a week or two. So it could take 6 months to use up your 100 days. Hope this makes sense
  17. Sold three one Saturday afternoon and made more profit in a couple of hours than I had for the last fortnight . Doubled up on all three cars. What I’d give for the good old days
  18. 2010 Mazda 6 is the same. Got to take wheel off and remove inner wing liner. Then they expect you to carry spare bulbs if you are driving in France. I sure won’t be changing a Mazda 6 headlight bulb in the dark.

Anyone still doing ok with diesels? I seem to be getting offered plenty but can’t shift many. it seems the block has more diesels than I can count and I have a Volvo XC90 2.4 SE AWD one owner full mdsh and I’ve not had a call. I wonder if the phone is still working?

Once again I have got one of these with engine oil leak. Always had these and been good over the years but lately everyone I touch 320, 318 or 325 always have or have had engine oil leak. such a shame because I love this sort of thing but might stop buying these.
