  1. Do you still buy the high tax band cars? I have a couple of band L cars £520 a year soon to go up to £540. Band M are at present £535 going up to £555 a year. I tend to steer clear of these but had two beauties I couldn’t refuse both 1 owner fmdsh and low mileage autos fully loaded. I think my problem will be these are in the bargain basement price range £3995 so only going to attract billies on a budget. I think I might be buying these two a Christmas card.
  2. Trader or not I’ve never let a car go without an address. Even if the yellow slip was missing I would rather not sell to someone who wouldn’t give address.I have had it a few times when they didn’t want to give details and I’ve shown them the door. Just really isn’t worth the bother. Learn by your mistakes.
  3. Must be the sensor. For this one it’s about £100 not too bad if it solves it. Just looked again all oil is like the day it went in, all waters are fine and just driven it 20 miles to the block and drives perfectly. Ticks over so quiet but will fail mot on eml
  4. That’s what I thought but it runs as it did when new and engine is quiet. Not rattling like the Corsas do.
  5. These are horrible unreliable boxes and cost a fortune to repair. I recently had an Audi A4 cvt, I was relieved to see it go and worried everytime I drove the thing after hearing the disastrous stories. I’ve come across many at the block with knackered boxes. First thing I’d do is change transmission fluid. I’ve heard this has worked on some.
  6. I bought a Yaris brand new back in 2005 for the wife. This has and still is the most reliable little runabout I’ve had. It’s never had any thing go wrong and it still has everything working properly. Now around 2 years ago it threw up the eml light but still runs perfectly and still flew through the last two mots. The code is showing cam shaft sensor. P0146; it use to be intermittent on for a day,off for 3 and so on. Now it is on permanent and when I reset it, it comes back on after 1 mile or less. The mot is due soon and I’m wondering if to reset it before mot to get it through or spend a fortune just to extinguish eml. As I said it runs perfectly and passes emissions test every year. I’m not going to sell this as it’s just an old runaround. It’s cheaper to go around the south to auctions in it rather than in any stock vehicles. just feel reluctant spending on my own and the sensor alone isn’t cheap. Shame as it’s not even on 60k yet. Thanks in advance

    Fiat 500

58 with 62 on clock in white. I just get so many sticking around now I get a little cautious. Not like the good old days. I’m sure this will be my last year.

    Fiat 500

Guy wants me to take his 500 in chop but I’ve never had one of these as everyone I talk to slates them. Anyone do ok with these?
  9. What's going on? Just been told by my broker that tradewise has put all policies up and people are not happy. Too right I'm not happy! 32% increase. No convictions and never claimed. Beware people when your renewal comes up.

  11. Got a beautiful red mini cooper 56 plate 1 owner with 24000 miles. £3295. Just closing up and gets a call from a guy in Wimbledon. He wants it now for his girlfriend's Xmas present. He said don't close I'm coming now. I have cash. He turned all nasty and called me a turkey when I refused his 2 bags of sand. Told me he hopes I choke on my Christmas turkey. Merry Christmas everyone and I'm off to the pub.
  12. Not had a mini with high clutch. Only ever had about 8. Had plenty of aygos with high clutch
  13. My neighbour bought a new Mondeo back in the late 90s. He use to change the filters and put the very best oil in every 6 months. He use to spend every Sunday waxing it and would say I'm not putting my car in a main dealers and have a yts kid of 16 touching my car. He was dead right I had a site at the time next to a main dealer who had YTS lads doing the servicing and they use to come in for a chat and say they are allowed something like 20 minutes per car for an interim service. That Mondeo was the best Mondeo on the road when he so old it with an empty service book. People pay too much attention to service history but I'd hate to try and sell a car without it.

    Toyota auris

Come up lovely this afternoon and putting the screen price on at 3295. I will let you know.
  15. I'm sure I've had every Toyota model in years gone by. I know I have never had a Auris until punter comes in today with p/X. What are they like to move on ? Am I going to have this until new year? 2008 1.6 petrol 34000 miles
  16. I sell many cars that are in my name for various reasons. So what!it's in your name? I would not be bothered and just get it back and fix it or offer a refund and send it to the block. It only hurts until you sell the next car.
  17. As soon as they start revving the car to the red and trying to make non existent faults with the car I show them the door. I'm not so patient as I was when I was younger and just started out. I use to sell Corsas and they nearly all had a creamy oil cap. The idiots who knew everything about cars and told me to discount heavily because the head gasket had gone were quickly shown the door. Never had a Corsa backed on me but stopped stocking them now. Just went off them and prefer a few yaris's any day
  18. I've always liked buying Bmw, vw and Mercedes and done very well with them over the years. I had a gearbox go on a Merc once and had a couple of bmw's with oil leaks and that's as bad as it's ever been. Vw's i have had some good ones but recently everytime I have a vw in it has some sort of dash light on. It's usually abs. Sometimes air bag or eml. Reading this foram has really put me off German cars. Are the mercs and bmw's really that bad? I know vw are. I havn't dealt in this sort of stock for a few years I have been leaning more towards anything Japanese. I have so much faith in Toyota and especially Honda. Never get a comeback. I use to do countless Vauxhalls without problems but even they are with their problems now. I'm sure cars years ago were so much more reliable. I suppose it's because modern cars have so much more on them nowadays. Bring back the good old days

  20. Anyone know how the chap is who was involved in the accident at bca today. My best wishes and hope your on the mend soon
  21. My local auction no longer accepts cash payments. Not even deposits can be paid in cash. No credit cards either. Only payment is debit card. Cashless society is coming. Businesses are dictating to the customers now. Auctions seem able to do exactly as they please and we keep turning up week in week out. Since starting out in this game the indemnity prices have gone up 5 times the rate of inflation. The job gets harder and harder.
  22. Hi there. Just taken a px in with plastic headlights that are misty. Someone said try wd40 on them to which I laughed. So yesterday I thought why not and gave it a try. No hard rubbing and they have come up like new. Crystal clear. Has anyone else heard this or tried it before? Just looked 5 minutes ago and they look as new.

  24. Took in the best little auto Yaris I've had for a long time. Fmdsh and like the day it came out the factory. 13000 miles and passenger seats never been sat on. Little old lady owner from our village who is given up driving. Surprisingly no little bumps on bodywork. A very careful driver.Young lady comes in and loves it. Puts a deposit down and leaves. All ready to go out this morning and she turns up with her car mechanic boyfriend who knows everything about the trade.I have two other customers I'm dealing with and he starts spirting off how it's far to low mileage for a 59 plate and must of been clocked or had a new clock. Then after explaining 1 owner lives just down road bla bla bla. HPI clear main dealer will verify mileage he wants to know why it's not in my name if I own car. I have 18 cars here and none are in my name and no you can't see the receipt for yaris. I promptly march him off premises and sold yaris 2 hours later to a very excited lady who couldn't believe her luck. Trouble is I still have the first couples deposit and they are not answering their phone.
  25. Deal done. Wednesday and 3 done already this week.
