  1. TFR from euro car parts.. 25L £14.50 with our sexy discount

    1 hour ago, RHO said:

Using any kind of TFR on seats is a big no for me. Rots the stitching on French cars especially. Imagine what it does to a

    customers sweaty arse.

"Hello, I want to bring my car back as my arse has rotted away". Can I put a warranty claim in please?

at least they wouldn't be full of shit anymore.....:D

it's used at pretty much every main dealer known.

If you're rotting fabric, you're using too much.

The Titan one I bought works fine on carpets and I can't see why it wouldn't work on seats. You shouldn't be getting the seats soaking wet anyway cos it plays havoc with the seat belt sensor. Use Autosmart Brisk which doesn't over wet the fabric.

Here's some good advice, don't bother with brisk on seats, use TFR/Water mix and you will never look back.

Should I do this on all policies under the 30 day threshold or just the one in question?

Never using them again - never like Quentin Wilson anyway and at least I don’t have to see his smug mug on my desk anymore.

Do it on all the policies and if they ask why say that you have had a claim rejected that clearly should have been paid, explain that you have lost all confidence in them because of this situation and as a result are exercising the 30 day money back guarantee.

I do this on a somewhat regular basis to get my own way, not that I enjoy it but it does work.

  4. Genius business idea, practically getting free money once they've stringed investors along for a few months.

Non FCA regulated, unsecured, no obligation to pay investors if the company goes tits up but hey, you can take us to court if you like (HA HA).. their FAQ is hilarious.

  5. Paint is the same price regardless of what it is at my local paintshop.. he's having your kecks down.

£100 a panel is what we pay for everything.

Hi all,  old painter is now in prison, so had to look for a new paint guy. Just been quoted £300-£350... Scuff on bumper corner and paint peeled off in the other corner, deep dent (30cm)  and graze on the sill. He was charging me £200 just for the bumper. It's pearlescent paint in dark red /burgundy, he said it's a lot of money for the paint as it's 3 layers of paint and difficult colour to match. Is he having me on or is he about right?

Look for someone on Facebook who wants cash in hand jobs, they will work for much less than this guy is willing too.

Friday usually attracts a lot of local non traders with a day off, it being their sabbath etc.. ten of them chasing one audi in hoping it will go for £335 inc fees..   Tuesday is more a traders day; however isnt worth going unless there is something youre interested in (either day).... but they do hold sales most days of the week there now, so many vehicles the place is over run with them...  Isnt Brighouse as close to Preston as Belle Vue? = worth a look/better breakfast?

PS - Always seems hard work at BCA, but the deals can be found :) ...

Yeah I think I will ditch Friday now.. I will give brighouse a try over next couple of weeks.

Crikey.... how many cars are you looking to buy?

They have 891 cars in todays sale!

Belle vue is renowned for being full of scrappers.. the lack of quality cars out there is worrying some times.

  7. Morning guys

Looking for some advice on what are the best days to attend Belle Vue, I usually only attend on Fridays however there is a sale today so will be attending.

There isn't many on offer today but there's a lot more variety than my usual AH provides (Preston) so hoping to get some bargains.

A third party warranty is an insurance policy. If the vehicle has a fault then under a certain set of circumstances (which have been discussed many times) as a trader you have to put it right.

All the third party warranty is doing is insuring YOU against having to pay for the repairs. It should make no difference to the customer as they are entitled to said repairs whether you use a third party warranty or not. Whether the punter knows they have these entitlements is a different matter and if by offering a warranty you are reminding them they have these rights on a 10 year old banger then why would you?!

This is how they worm their way out of paying out, they're an assurance product not an insurance product hence non regulated.

They aren't as bad as people make out, they do payout sometimes you just have to pester them on behalf of the customer, we do well with warranties and I'm sure they do well of us so it works both ways.

Ok so.. the question "have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled" Is asked to the individuals being listed on the policy, if the current (cancelled) policy is in the name of a ltd company then it isn't the individuals that have had the policy cancelled, but the LTD company.

So if you're taking the renewal out under a new LTD company name then don't worry about it.

    I hope that makes sense.

Also avoid having your name on too many dissolved / liquidated companies, insurers don't like this and will penalize you for it.

Thanks Arfur, that makes sense. Do you know anything about the legalities of the cancellation being under a Ltd company? (Which has ceased trading) Does it make any difference to the declaration?

You weren't tempted to read the fault codes before driving it home ?!

This is something I can't resist, first thing I do on any auction car is drive it around a short route outside the AH, plug the bugger in and check if I've been shafted and then stick it in the hotel car park next door until I can come back and collect later on :D

yes, me and the woman were fine. It was her birthday, and the 2nd birthday in succession someone has hit her. :D

"fair bid?" Not following there mate

The excess is 650, they will also take the remaining policy payments, another 600, so they really are trying to pay me as little as possible.

Ok, what you do here is ask for the car back from Copart (Either directly or via your insurer), appoint an independent assessor and then have them value your vehicle. Beware though the assessors valuation is final and it can even be less than less than the current offer, although unlikely.
