  1. See this is where it gets messy, it's why I'll probably just send all the shitters to the block from now on.

I use St Helens Motor Auctions (one of them cash only type of places).

Which auction do you send them to

A local AH - St Helens Motor Auctions, it's not worth paying massive entry fees with BCA / EPMA.

  2. Evening,

I'm wondering what's everyone's opinions on the rough / faulty part exchanges? Up until now I have sold them on a trade sale only basis, no warranty, no returns. Recently we've had more and more headaches from complaints and people being unrealistic for the peanuts they are paying so today I woke up and thought I'm going to enter the 3 part exchanges we have left and just set the reserve as our cost price and see what happens.

03 zafira, nice mileage 91K, needs a good clean sold provisional £225, reserve £250 but bear in mind these bangers normally make £600 at BCA.

03 Sport KA Convertible mint condition in Red, nice mileage 70K, valeted and a nice drive £375, reserve was £250.

06 Astra 1.8 SRI, 100K mileage, 12 Months MOT bit rusty looks like it's been living under the sea with sponge bob for a few years but still OK nothing major, reserve £600, £400 sold provisional.. again these normally make £700 - £800 at BCA with rusty arches and sills like normal.

Let me know you're stories and how it works for you.

As always any help is appreciated :)

  4. There's an android App called "Call Recorder" it's what I use, 30 days worth of recordings, unlimited playbacks and downloads, recordings £2.48 as a one off but there is a free version.

Works a treat and runs in the back ground.

The punter is innocent !,sorry but you are contributory negligent, tell the punter the truth, unwind the deal, refund or get him another Fiesta ( preferably a newer and better one) and you will be a hero....However,it may cost you a grand or more.

On your admission this subcontractor must be dodgy and has either cocked up or is setting you up for a big bill ( if he does bills) .You know what they are like, the chances are he is not telling the truth and it probably won’t be right when he completes the job .He will then probably deny all knowledge of his workmanship and blame the car.

Yep I agree.. on an old bag of shite fiesta just refund move on as they're piss easy to sell anyway, advertise it for sale again with a new cam belt.. if the customer refuses a refund then happy days ask him to wait patiently.

Not so much a test drive but it sort of was because this old lady had only just passed her test, I delivered the car to her and it was her first time in the car, now I know what your thinking why did you let her drive it, but she had been telling me how she had just been doing extra lessons for her pass plus test, so thought she would be fine, she got in the car pulled it out and drove straight into a parked car.

Had she already paid for the car?

A very helpful chap front Close has rang me and is coming next week to help me with my FCA application.

What are you doing about VAT registration, are you biting the bullet and doing it straight away? I am currently in the same position as you in terms of becoming FCA registered.

    Very true :D

It sold yesterday for full price, they seen the tow bar & electrics as a perk.

Last year most stuff I typed into WBAC was quoted online at pretty much bang on book value.

So far this year i've noticed that the vast majority of things i've typed in they've been offering 20% - 30% below book money for...and that's just the online valuations.

Have to say we're not complaining, nicked some cheap cheap stock from them in the last few months.

I bet you've also been stung a few times.. I'm still sore after this week's loss. I wouldn't really touch WEBAC now on.. mostly full of crap.

+1. If there’s anyone on here who thinks that a premium car at the block won’t have problems then they should visit the Jobcentre tomorrow.

+1. Bleedin’ bloody obvious, I’d say! Apart from a few lazy sods, who on earth would bomb out their motor to these parasites who rape them on the valuation.

£2395 for a 10 year old PETROL ASTRA with a service history of err...6 stamps!?!! Surely that’s a misprint.

I've had many successful purchases from WBAC.. normally I'm good at sifting through the crap but I've been caught out good and proper this time.

CAP Retail is always over valued, I'm going to try complaining today and see where it gets me, considering i now have spent £2500 on cars that need engines over the past 2 weeks.

  11. What would you guys say the chances of BCA taking this back are? Or atleast some money off.. it was in the UKCGR Select category, despite being a grade 5 (deep keying) I seen £300 bodywork and nothing more at the time, it's now looking like £500 engine, £130 fitting, £300 bodywork on a 08 Astra ...

Considering the Peugeot 207 nightmare that I bought last week with a blown H/G as well I feel like blasting the branch manager

its a vauxhall what more is there to say,if it does have the paper mashins filter be sure to clean all the sludge out of there too

I know.. recently I've been losing more than winning on Vaux stuff.

Also discovered yesterday that another new purchase (Pug 207) has a head gasket issue, pressurizing but not over heating.. nightmare!

I'll have a proper look today and see what is happening

  13. Hey all,

I hope you're all enjoying your evening after the second bottle of wine along side watching some saucy Love Island.

I've bought a Disastra today, 2008 Astra 1.6 VVT 70K Mileage, 6 stamps, last serviced 9K ago.. after a 30 mile trip home from the AH the oil light has come on and it sounds like the bottom end is falling apart, I'm thinking oil filter has collapsed as it's half way on the dip stick but I am hoping it isn't too late and the bottom end hasn't gone.

Any ideas or suggestions other than replacing oil filter / Oil change.

As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated

I use iZettle and payments take about a week in total (to clear your account, whatever they tell you) but there is no contract and they charge 1.75%.  Fantastic little bit of kit to be fair and no monthly subs.  I don't mind waiting for the money, providing I know it is coming.

Waiting a week is a no go if you sell 4 - 5 over a 2 day period and don't see the money until the following Thurs/Friday.  Especially if you're like me who stocks 15 max.

Well some of us were working whilst you piss tanks were on it... Been the block and come away empty handed again, I won't name and shame but its in Ellesmere Port and it's officially on my never visit again list, next Friday I'll be joining you..

EPMA? Never been but I assumed it was a load of tosh.

  16. I was pondering doing it full time however 2 weeks before my son was due to be born, I was sacked from my IT job for not fitting in with the culture, I didn't get on with my manager so it all went down hill from there.

At the time it was a massive decision leaving my career just on a punt that I might do well as a car dealer, having minimal experience it was scary at first but it gets better :D

  17. Hi Guys

I had been using ford consumer valuations for a while but it's now saying unauthorized access and not letting me use the site, we rely on it heavily for PX valuations mainly.

Is there any other cap value sites out there, ideally free but I will pay if need be.

    Thank you
