  1. Indeed. Plus they don't give a fcuk of course. I would think the best angle of attack is for everyone to hound their reps and daily call the office numbers to complain. That and a high profile survey. I think IMDA have done one @umesh what's the stance on this? Any plans to present to them or any feedback so far? I've used this analogy before and it remains true however, that organising independent car dealers is like herding cats. Of course, leaving the robbers and voting with your feet is the best angle of attack- if only for a short period. I think I'm right in saying that although the notice period is a month, that there's nothing to stop you joining right back up again?
  2. So. He blew the computer up. Everywhere. (Gotta laugh). Thanks for the replies though everyone. Much appreciated.
  3. This is where the absence of a like button offends. (Made me chuckle. You couldn’t make it up.)
  4. Yes, why not. You only live once. I guess the finance companies (well some of them) have an age limit as the risk of them not being alive next year/four years/end of term is higher. Have pinged it up to Mallard, so we’ll see tomorrow. Just remembered-I did have one guy (69) get finance on a Jag last year. He popped his clogs before making the third payment. I did bid on the car with the finance company, but didn’t win it.
  5. I know. Poor sod. You’d have hoped to be able to buy a six grand car at that time of life. Maybe he can but doesn’t want to shell out the lump sum? Will try to be (diplomatically) nosey
  6. Do any of you fine folk know of a finance company that considers the over 70’s? I have a punter, and the regular places I use (Motonovo, Blue, Autobahn) can’t help.
  7. Get in! Result! I sold a Kangoo WAV to what must be the first punter I can remember in a long while who hasn’t booked ahead.
  8. Bugger mate. That sinking feeling when you're pretty sure they've cocked off. :0(
  9. Have done four so far. Much better than this time last month. Have another approved on finance, but now dragging their feet- groan. Only did 10 last year in December. 12 year before and 16 year before that
  10. I'm no expert but it's, I think Search Engine Optimisation. Basically, people do not just (or at all maybe) simply just go to autotrader's website for example. Instead they google search things like 'used cars near me' or 'ford fiesta for sale' etc. SEO work get's you seen more. Someone else will explain better than me.
  11. ebay MP, Motors, CG, Facebook... but quite importantly, a regular spend on SEO (via Click Dealer)
  12. Snap. Can be done. I'm sure we're not alone.
  13. Nice people. Worth a look and they’ll give you a free trial. (DA was daft prices too)
  14. Well, I apologise if my use of the word bastard gave that sweeping opinion from your sensitive self. I most certainly don’t think my customers are actually bastards, and I was using a bit of poetic license. Or at least that was the intention. However, punters that worry about an advisory that not only isn’t worth having a sweat or mild panic over; or one that obviously common sense would understand that said statement of ‘ this car will come with a new no advisory mot Sir/Madam’ are perhaps to be avoided. If you chose to deal with every ‘ahem’ different individual that presents themselves to you-then that is all credit to you and I wish you well. Anyone who thinks that I for a moment give the trade a bad name, has formed the wrong opinion of my posts to this fine forum I would suggest-as I would have thought I was a fair way down that list. In thirty plus years of doing this (not including growing up with my father being in the trade also) I have never been accused of this. I would proffer that some relative newbie in particular making such a sweeping statement, is in fact setting their own bad name reputation. I shall of course be closely scrutinising your future posts for some revenge. ;o) (Now that was meant light heartedly in case you took further offence as I’m very thick skinned.) I think I’ll now also retreat to the Private room again. That is common sense of course. Lets hope we end it there and an apology is forthcoming. I will let you have the last word otherwise.
  15. Oh right. So it’s no longer (main) Dealer Auction - as was their USP! I’m probably late to catch on and being a bit thick. All that’s happened is AT have paid for the right to the name in a nutshell. I also forgot that DA is a Cox group company- or was. Surprised it didn’t just get rolled into the Manheim website.
  16. Yeah, it’s AT’s baby now and remember, it’s not DA.com anymore, but a new DA.co.uk so AT will need card details to be able to charge you for purchases. Ha. Indeed. One month free rumours are not a surprise. Whatever they can do to rape further will be done. Shame. I liked DA (as in the staff). You got to know which dealers to avoid of course, but I always found the team there helpful and pretty efficient.
  17. It was supposed to be that ‘legacy’ customers would get migrated to the new DA/Autoraper site without being made to pay the £199 a month that new people would be charged. so...you SHOULD have received an email from AT DA giving you access to the new system. Hence that’s why they took your money. I’m still waiting for said email. My renewal with DA has always been January, so, haven’t been charged yet.
  18. :-D You can’t look at the old DA as it won’t exist from tomorrow I believe ... I see this morning that we can only look at auctions ending today and no further. Still no new log in details received despite many assurances. Maybe that’s the tactics : to not send out new login details to non Autoraper customers and /or to wait until prompted a few times by any legacy customers..who knows. It’s no great loss, but we do buy the odd few off there, although that has been declining steadily for a while.
  19. DA email reply below to my question about not having log in details. We’re not alone... ’... I'm sorry you have not received your login instructions yet. It is very important that we get everyone logged in ready for Monday and you are not the only person waiting for access so do please bare with us whilst we sort this out for all of our customers. In the meantime can you please have a look in your junk and spam folders to make sure the email hasn't been missed. The email should have been sent with the subject line of "Auto Trader Portal Registration" hopefully this helps you locate it. Alternatively if you already have access to AutoTrader's Dealer Portal then login to your account and click 'Sourcing' at the top and then 'Advertise to Trade' this will take you into our new system. If the option is not showing or you don't have access to AutoTrader's portal then please reply to this email so I can chase the migration team for an update. Kind regards, DA email reply below to my question about not having log in details. We’re not alone...I barely buy a thing on there anymore, so not overly concerned Certainly won’t ever be paying £99 a month for it .... ’... 20. Main Stealers need to pay for them pointy shoes.
  21. I emailed them last week as hadn't received said new email with log in details. They replied quite swiftly that they are getting round to it, and I should receive it in the next few days. That was a week ago and still nothing. Another omni-shambles. Agreed that the grandfather rights won't last. AT are far too greedy to let further profit opportunity go. No matter how deranged the thinking
  22. Works fine for me. It shows the little warning triangle like on the Minis etc even for things like low fuel.
