    BMW E46

They leaked 15 years ago. Unlike a fine wine they won’t of improved with age.
  2. It won’t be a sensible opportunity on DA - a few will fight for it & bid it up to the moon. All for a cloth seated, 17 year old, end-of-lifer.
  3. No surprise here, 4 years ago I had to sell a Tigra at £1500 and I know of a fellow trader who currently has had one for months. At the last count this 60K car was £999 and still no interest. Tbh they’re even less desirable than Micra C+Cs. As for 08 onwards Lagunas - very hard work in in estate format. A shame because the quality is on a different planet to the earlier cars but I guess it’s the ex-rep. market that punters simply don’t want them unless they’re dog shit cheap.
  4. Has she been reincarnated?
  5. Repeated viewings are becoming a British pastime for timewasting dreamers & chancers viewing what they can’t afford. They get 1 viewing at my emporium of shite, if they attempt to come for a 2nd they’re asked “Have you a deposit ready?” and when I hear the almost inevitable “No” these pillocks are politely told to do one. It’s been a while since I’ve been quoted Parker’s but that ALWAYS led to a prompt termination of discussions. The sale ain’t going nowhere because at this point they’ve been ‘price conditioned’ and ain’t going to believe the big nasty motor trader.
  6. Thanks for the comments, I’ll investigate further. I hope it’s the front vibration damper pulley but, in hindsight, the old flywheel we removed was absolutely totally & utterly knackered - hugely beyond wear limits in free play & fore/aft rock. The mechanic & I had never seen a flywheel in such a condition so I’m wondering if it damaged the gearbox input shaft bearing.
  7. An unusual one here as I suspect this isn’t a common issue but does anyone on here have first hand experience of problems with a brand new DMF? We’ve just fitted a full 4pc clutch kit to a 2.2HDi C-Crosser due to the old (original) being worn out. The new kit is all fine except the flywheel is rattling as bad as the old one - usual symptoms with it going quiet when the pedal is dipped. It sounds like it’s done 150,000 miles! LUK have confirmed it’s the correct kit for the car and have given us a list of checks which includes removing the auxiliary belt to see if the crankshaft damper pulley is worn & thus transmitting vibrations along the crankshaft. We are going to investigate next week but anyone have any suggestions?
  8. The mind boggles with some of this old shite. I’ve had a few old trade-ins etc. and it seems old Mondeos & scruffy Rover 75 estates (must be diesel) are a sought after commodity. One chap buying my latest 75 even mumbled something about there’s a nostalgia surrounding the British motors industry!! I nearly choked stifling my laughter.
  9. Don’t bother. I use one personal cheque per year & that’s for my trade plates. I’ve not had a business cheque book in nearly a decade. Oh, and don’t waste your time with recorded delivery - what’s in it for the DVLA to not cash your cheque? It must just be me but I’ve no problem with the DVLA. The logbooks come through in a week & every November I send my trade plate form & chi then receive confirmation within a fortnight. 10/10 for service I reckon.
  10. EML illuminated is an automatic fail. Unless the tester has grit in his eye & doesn’t see it Tbh does the E stand for Engine or Emissions? It depends upon which manufacturer’s manual you are reading.
  11. 14yr old Yaris that he’s keeping? All I’d do is clear the code as I pulled up to the MOT station.
  12. Let it lie & move on with your life. The fact they’ve failed miserably with their complaint will eat away at them for the time being.
  13. It’s on its 5th franchisee in as many months.
  14. I can’t blame them. They don’t employ staff to drag up old invoices, redact customer details, scan them & then email them. Never mind GDPR, I’d simply tell you “No”.
  15. It could be one of many many things - apparently any fault on a PSA diesel that may have an indirect consequence to the DPF or its ability to regen will bring up a DPF message. I’ve just been told my DPF message is due to glow plug(s) failure, apparently during a regen on the 2.2HDi the glow plugs come on. There’s obviously more to regenerating DPFs than squirting diesel into it and setting fire to the soot
  16. +1 +1 A few years ago it was the death knell for a cheap car but now those who want the big or high-performance car accept they have to cough up. Don’t waste your time with a Billy who’s first question is “How much is the tax?”. Just put the phone down.
  17. I’ve got a Citroen currently with “DPF” scrolling across the screen. The car drives perfectly, is regenerating & the exhaust is as clean as can be yet the car still says there’s a problem. Bloody sensors/DPFs (take your pick).
  18. +1. You can give them all the patter you want on the video.
  19. and here’s me MOTing, flinging tyres, brakes & the occasional clutch at these cars. All I need is a bucket, sponge, a Facebook a/c & a £10 phone.
  20. +1. Plenty of my cars are 8-10 yrs old. The last thing I want is for my customers to think they’re getting main dealer service.
