    David , I can't believe you're worried about number of sales ...... just think of the views !! :) ! #crazy

I've said that for many years, I only want one view if that equates to a buyer ! #simples

I'm old fashioned Umesh ,  Just like you :)

Told you that once I reckon , those two out on test drive  I told you about on the phone other day, SOLD , that's what counts but you know that , we think alike you and I :)

Had a call today that a vehicle we sold over 4 months ago has had a timing chain snap, we offer 3 months warranty as standard and I'm looking for any advice on where we stand with this. Car had done approx 100k, no signs of any noise while it was in our possession and drove fine to us and when we used it prior to sale.

Anyone on here had a similar scenario?

I would say after 4 months your going to have to at best contribute to a repair , but that depends on the customers attitude really .

Worst case is you pay to fix it or replace engine , but if you replace engine its better to replace chain anyway , expensive choice but you are in control .

The other choice is to take the car back at a price that suits you both , fix it  and resell with a new lease of life . Again your in control .

Let some else fix it and your not in control , but if they stuff the repair it can get nasty all ways round .

Either way round I can see you stumping cash up , just got to choose the least expensive way and sell it to her .

    Moral is , don't ever sell a 2.0 litre BMW again .

New VW , Skoda SEAT , Audi TSI chain engines are the same "1.4 , 2.0 litre units ", Hopeless things , plus manifolds at horrendous costs too .

  3. Getting to be a lot of BULL on this thread now .

Wonder how much the Brown one is , my freezer is quite empty at present

Bit of Angus Beef Is very tasty :)

I'll pass on them Mr Trader look to cheap . The Kia is £2,495 minimum , looking at Autotrader its £2,695 average price .

Cheap will not sell cars any quicker on most occasions .

It can bring out the customers that cant really afford it , but it appears cheap so will stretch , BUT when it wants a new Bulb they will haunt you because they cant afford ANYTHING for it . Beware of CHEAP customers

  5. If they have sent you an FRN number that's the deal done .

Normally ring you if they need information in addition to what you sent .

Cant see that being a worry , we never sent one in .

Watch out for the sneaky calls just before they do send a number , we had a call can you quote me what i could get for £300 a month , I kept saying I cant and the caller just kept the pressure on asking about finance and not the car which I found weird .

Literally 30 mins later after that call we had the number via email .

Nowt wrong with VW :) as long as you where the spanners are kept :)

Audi , Skoda and SEAT too :)

Now wheres the tool box ?

  7. Looks like you need to prep up on your cleaning skills to me .

    Presentation presentation presentation .

Hoover it , polish it , clean under bonnet , take it somewhere else to picture it , get the whole car in the shot as its the bloody car your selling . Chose a nice day and time , Tyre slick it . People buy with EYES first , nothing wrong with your cars so blame yourself first , not the cars or the tools .

If others are selling and your not , then its you that has it wrong , not the cars .

Remember people sell to people BUT only if you can get them to visit you , if they don't come its you that has something wrong , not the cars as they sold before you had them .

Sorry to be point blank , but that's just me

Near me there is a car that a trader bought 3 yrs ago , We have sold 27 of the same model in that time , he still has his ,even now swearing blind they are useless sellers , its his prep , simples .

EYES , its a simple lesson so think it through and be your best critic on every part of what you are trying to do .

Sounds like a pure anorak, probably runs an 07 Nissan Micra Sport with a sports exhaust and coilovers and has no intention or means of buying one. He just sits on the net reading the obscure specs and phones dealers to share his encyclopaedic knowledge. AKA Sad Bastard!!

Agree with that comment , total nut case . No money , No intentions , probably cant even drive .

The other thing I’ve learnt from his that he advertises on AT, eBay/gumtree motors pro, car gurus, RAC, desperate seller, motors, RAC, Facebook and says they are all useless really apart from AT which is costing in the region of £1500 a month. The only reason he’s keeping up with the others atm is because of brand awareness.

Stocking costs will tie his profits in knots

AT bill £1500 liar , more like 3k + then the other site costs on top

Buying online at BCA is not cheap at all , Period .

Having it all prepped by 3rd party guys + mechanical will eat his profit .

Selling cheap doesn't mean a guaranteed sale

He's one of the many that fools himself .

One fine day he will be gone .

At least you're getting enquiries of a sort. Dead day so decided to take a bit of stock for a run...on the side of a verge 20 mins later awaiting a recovery truck with a flashing oil light and lots of smoke.

    Thank f**k it's the weekend.

Mondays job then fixing it , didn't want that to happen really did you , Could of been worse it might have been a test drive or a sale car , Least times on your side for a fix

Had similar a 12 month SAAB Estate should have been £15999 - advertised at £5999 !! had about 50 calls on various cars for couple of days until it got resolved! One lady I couldn't get through to her... No wonder these people get scammed, I said HOW do you expect to buy a car for £6k when the market value is circa £15k - it's just 12 month sold !! #NoWords

  14. Part Time selling cars , Never work .

Every one makes the mistake of selling car and earn £500 x it by 8 = 4k  suppose you will sell that 8 is every month = 48k a year , Simples :)

Reality is so far from that , believe me , finding stock, fetching stock , prepping stock , dealing with the non sellers as there will be some , waiting for customers , down time time with faults , expenses , VAT , wages , parts , fuel , cleaning products , bills from fixing , tyres . MOT tests , warranty costs , and the list goes on .

12 cars selling part time wont work .

Not a matter of getting a £40 day jobber a mate to sort any faults and sell car.

More to it than you think my friend .

But if you have spare 50/60k kicking around you wont miss go for it , bet you will remember it for a while to come .

BUT , nothing ventured , nothing gained , hope it all goes well whatever you choose .
