  1. Thanks Dave for the advice, we have cctv, couldn't see alot as it was a little way from the camera and was dark, the car is now 4 cars deep. Before it was right at the front with nothing in front. The keyless entry/start cars are in fashion with car thieves I think.
  2. I was specialising in these a few years ago, had to be diesel and estate, the 110 bhp were the best. We even had a couple come from France to buy one and I think that is saying something about this machine.
  3. Anyone else had any issues with keyless entry / start cars? Last night at 2am we had someone attempted to steal a Range Rover Evoque from our site, the person / people broke in to the office hoping the keys for the cars were left there overnight. A search was made in our office but thankfully no big mess was made and nothing was taken (no keys and V5s are left there overnight). They did leave a pair of boxer shorts outside the office. They then tried to open the Evoque by from the door handle and the alarm went off, they then ran off up the road where possibly another car was waiting. Seen a few posts on Facebook where BMWs and RangeRovers have been stolen. Think this is the next in thing for car thieves. I've had the garage nearly 17 years, first time had any sort of problem.
  4. First visit to the block in 2019, manage to buy 5 from BCA today, thought prices weren't as bad as previous Januarys, prices just as they were in late 2018, how have you guys found it??
  5. Done 8 out of 19 advertised on AT, that includes 1 from today, customer not picking the car up until the 2nd Jan, but he did transfer the whole amount into our bank. Knocked £100 off and he is going to get the cam belt done himself (result). Been in the game over 20 years, don't know what to expect this time of year, but overall happy. Looking forward to January and the new year. Happy, healthy and a prosperous new year to all.
  6. A few years back had a customer bought a Peugeot 307 2.0HDi from us, after about a couple of weeks the lady drove through a ford (she admitted it) and the car conked out and would not start again, she made a claim under the warranty we gave her (in house). We did not even offer to look at it as it was her own fault as she should not of attempted to go through deep water. She went to Trading Standards, they also said that we are not liable. Chances are if the car goes to the main dealer they will pick up the water damage.
  7. Deposit taken on 1 yesterday and 1 today, 2nd half of November = rubbish, so hopefully a better December.

    Stock

I have just been looking at a Fiesta XR2 mark 2 on Ebay as I would really like one as a toy (bring back some memories), Someone selling one on there saying he is selling for a friend. Now that puts me right off. They are probably genuine private sellers, best to do the checks to be safe. Also do a HPi check before you part with any money.

Agree, I used to buy a lot from the local rag, always ask the seller how long have they had the car / van for ? Then when you go there check details on the V5. never bought from people who have had the car for a few months or less. Or if the seller says i am selling for a friend then it's a it's a No No. Too many people selling as private sellers but they are actually trade.
  10. We pay 175 plus VAT per month for Ebay Motors Pro for 25, they have tried to get me on Gumtree a few times, I might try Cargurus instead of Ebay when my contract expires. Any feed back on Cargurus anyone?
  11. Go to WWW.pumapeople.com all M serial numbers are free.
  12. I am using Retail Check, was offered I Control by a rep who came round a few months ago, I said i will think about it. Retail Check is working for me...
  13. I have looked at this before, the Retail Check is more accurate tells you exactly where you are in the market with your car and also gives sensible trade in values. I've just put in the reg number for my Mercedes C250 done 56000 miles, the dealer price showed £9300 to £10300. That is no guide price to sell as it is telling me to sell anything from £9300 to £10300, with Retails check it tells you exactly where to be and what price position your car is. Also i know it may seem a load of rubbish and another money making method for AT, which is what i thought at first when i was approached by AT about Retail Check. Now I am using it for every car that is on our forecourt it has made a lot of difference to our sales figures, i used to sell 1 or 2 cars on average per week we are now selling 3, 4 and even 5 a week for the last 4 months. I aim to have good price flagged up on every car advertised on AT which then makes the buyer know that the car is fairly priced and gives them confidence . Definitely worth it for me as it pays for itself.
  14. Thanks Twerp will call Nissan tomorrow.
  15. Think the best thing i've done is use retail check through AT, costs about £100 per month. I aim to sell everything at good price or great price and our turnover has almost doubled. I mainly buy from BCA, before going to the sale, i go through the catalogue and track all the cars appeal to me, i then go through every car on retail check, make a note of it and take it with me to the sale. I will then work backwards to see how much we should be buying that car for. Last month i sold a Volvo V60 (bought off a private seller) and worked on Retail Check Price guide and wbac price as a guide (to buy), had a lovely return of £3000 profit. It gets better the px has about £2400 profit across it.
  16. Hi Guys, Has anyone had any issues with Nissan Navara Chassis rust? Got a Nissan Navara in stock it has a whole in the nsr chassis rail, visible when you look in the wheel arch. the rusty whole is about 2cm x 4cm. Heard it is a common problem, will Nissan do anything about it or do i take a hit on it?
  17. Partner Finance is good if you can turn the cars over, just don't get excited and pay too much for stock. Turn stock over with in 120 days and you are home and dry, you can make money out of it.
  18. We have today reduced our package with AT from having 19 on there to 12. We advertise on Ebay motors as well where we get 25 slots for about 10% of the price of AT. It kicks in a months time, going to see how it goes, it is a reduction of about £700 a month. We know that we are not getting as many on there. We are going to try and steer customers to our website from adverts from AT website ads, FB and Ebay. The last 4 cars sold, 3 from Ebay and 1 from AT. We also do the freebie on Car Gurus where we have sold the odd car. Also what we are going to try is that we get some quality 'bargain buy' cars. To buy extra slots from AT for bargain buys (cars advertised under £1500) which is £14.55 per month per slot that's only an extra £87.30 incl. vat per month for an extra 5 slots. We sometimes find we make more money out of lower, affordable budget stuff than we do out of £5k - £10k stuff and they turnover quicker as well.
  19. World pay for us aswell, money is in our account in 2 working days, used have the money first thing on the 2 working day now its in our account mid afternoon usually between 3pm and 4pm. We also steer payments by bank transfer as debit and credit cards are now charged at a percentage. Try to take deposits only by card.
  20. I was where you are today 20 years ago. I never used to buy from auction as i was too scared that i would buy a lemon I used to go there to have a look, back in the day there was no assured reports or grades on vehicles and nor was there online bidding. I always used to buy cars from private sellers usually out of newspapers, tried to get in with some main dealers but did not get much from them. Now times have moved on, our main source for stock is auction, i have travelled to a lot of BCA auction houses but now i just stick to our local one as it can be very time consuming going all over the place and i was finding i was not any better off. Nowadays i don't bother chasing private ads as i find quite a few of them advertising as private sellers and they are not and that really p!sses me off. I will go through the auction catalogue before attending the auction and pick out all the bits that are appealing to me, then when i attend a sale what ever stacks up and comes off at the right price i will buy, i usually end up buying from 2 to 5 cars a week. The profit margins are a lot better if you can buy off private sellers. We will buy off private sellers if they come to me and they have had their vehicle for a reasonable time and it is registered to them. Auctions can vary from day to day depends who wants what on the day and how nice it is and what section it is in, give you an idea in October i bought a C1, 57 Reg, done 68k, fsh, grade 3 for £1400 hammer price after the fees total invoice was £1606. I have a gold card. And we still have the car today only 1 person looked at it. Retail price originally £2495, then reduced to £2295 (good price on AT) going to reduce it to £1995 as now overage stock and no interest.
  21. 4k in 2 Months, i wouldn't wear it, i'd be saying to them sorry we can't do anything as you can't provide any evidence of damage etc, and you have done too many miles its out of warranty now. Also i would be saying to them, you are not entitled for a refund as you have passed the time limit for a refund which is with in 30 days, they rejected the offer of a refund and they have done 4000 miles in the car so if the car was not safe to drive why have you done 4000 miles in it and risked your life and others aswell. I use Law Data if i have anything like this, i hardly get anything but it's worth the £46 a month for peace of mind. Speak to David or Graham and get them to deal with it. You won't hear from the punters again. My brother bought a car from a car supermarket (£12k Audi A4 S line), the auto gearbox went wrong and the car supermarket started to fob him off, I got LawData involved the Car supermarket soon bucked up their ideas.
  22. Customer picked a rubbing noise after 2 months, i would ask the customer to bring the in so we can investigate and repair if required. Some customers never tell you its their fault. For example the road tax issue, it's up to them to do them their homework before they commit. Its also been 2 months not within 30 days.... . you have been more than fair to them for offering a refund after 2 months, i would never do that, we do our own warranties, it states in the warranty booklet that if an issue arises it's down to the customer to get the car to us so we can repair it (we always point that out to the customer on handover as well). We had an issue about a year ago where a guy bought a Nissan Note from us 6 weeks later he said he was getting a loud noise coming from the front of the car and it didn't sound like coming from the engine, we asked him to get the car to us so we can have a look, asked him not to drive it, he said he had breakdown cover so he will use that, next morning had a phone call from him saying he nearly got killed because one of the front wheels had come off. Said to him we told you not to drive the car until it was inspected, he said the breakdown recovery was going to be too long so i decided to drive it to us. He then makes a claim that it was our fault that the wheel came off and he could of been killed. In the end turned out he had done 3500 miles in 6 weeks. So our question to him was why has the wheel not come off any earlier? He has obviously had some work done or someone has left his wheel nuts loose. Our legal advisors we are not liable. Told the customer that, never heard a thing after. He did leave a 5 star review on yell. com after a week purchasing the car which he didn't remove.
  23. .....I can smell........ He is entitled to 'F' all
  24. . Now you got to replace it, not easy.
