  1. Hi Jim You might be living the dream, but are you making any money ! My bet is that you are not doing 1% of T/O
  2. As I understand- caught driving a car where the DPF has been removed......max fine £1000 and £2500 for a van. So I imagine a dealer caught supplying a car where the DPF has been removed will be a worse offence ... I may be wrong !
  3. I agree.....It appears Desirable cheapies are now bringing more than they would 2 years ago.Late stuff was quiet, so our guys tried to buy some 80k ex fleet 08 1.4 tdci 5dr Fiestas on line last week.We had £1100 each for them ( good money we thought ) and got blown away. With the buyers fees added they were £1500 ?.Meanwhile you can nick late fleet stuff at the moment.
  4. Typical BCA response, which is their policy.Dont help, let the trader sort it out themselves.Of course you are indemnified against outstanding debt or the vehicle being stolen
  5. BCA traders complaints- their policy is don't help, because most of them will disappear....We had a punter return with his FSH Autolease Peugeot we got from BCA which he had for several months. He could prove it had covered another 20k.We just unwound the deal swapped him far a better car, filled it up and he was happy.BCA did not want to know,we had tried the branch, then head office etc.We then wrote to the head guy at Lloyds Autolease the reply we got was awful. We threatened BCA with court action, sent them a reminder,as per the rules, then took them to the small claims court having embellished the claim with the help of our punter. This all took months.BCA sent their trouble shooter to attend the hearing. He had flown up north, stayed in a hotel etc and he was a nice guy. This was his job.The judge looked at the evidence ticked off the BCA guy and awarded us everything we asked for.We made a few grand. Now when we have the very occasional issue,we have to remind them not to mess about !
  6. Hi ASP You are getting good advice. You have ' good title ' to the car.
  7. What about the public sector, usually in further education type family, taterly dressed, bloke with bushy beard, downtrodden wife/ partner in in old Laura Ashley type frock with worst of all their ' free range kids' often wearing NHS type ill fitting specs. They are very articulate, bloke speaks fluent 'top gear' language like 'no darling not that one,it's the entry model'.In the meantime Joshua and Tamara are in and out your stock, standing on seats, pulling off sales cards and leaving doors ajar...... !
  8. Try trading stuff to retailers, they are worse than punters. The excuses not to pay,or chip you,it is unbelievable how people who you think are OK mess you about !
  9. Yes 34p,I don't think he has broken any rules.
  10. I couldn't get any at 21.5p,now the CEO Trevor Finn has bought £400k worth at 22p,they have bounced a few pence. That is commitment. He has been running the show for years,he is a proper car dealer not a PLC bullshitter.I think I will now wait for 22.7p ( only 2 grands worth ) it is a risk!
  11. I was in Palma today and driving past the convention centre,VW are launching their new T Roc mini SUV and there was one displayed outside, probably top of the range. What colour was it,the best I could describe it was Urine Gold !, that is really going to look good in 3 years time.
  12. I stopped subscribing to Glasses when the finance companies lending criteria became based on Cap Clean values. That must have been early 90's.I don't know anyone who subscribes,is it still in book form.As for their survey of independent dealers, how many of them will know there up to date figures for percentages and comparisons on footfall, stockturn, electric vehicle demand, stock investment returns etc.The guy who has won the £100 for instance,I think he has about 10 cars ( a good stock position at the moment) I wonder how he answered their survey.......
  13. Most of the punters had a bike licence but had failed the car driving test several times. However Reliants were harder to drive than most cars so you would often buy them back a few months later. The first Reliants used to rise in value because the factory ( I think it was a large shed )only produced a few every week.If you got one per month, that was good and you would get the same people ( blokes over 50 in cloth caps) queuing before you opened ............honestly !
  14. Well,I think it is brilliant.I doubt Auto Trader will agree ! Good Luck,I hope you make millions.
  15. You may laugh, but that will probably sell. There is a guy in Worcester area who deals in Reliants,he sells his for a lot more than that ! Back in the day Regals ( before Robins) were fantastic sellers,if you managed to get a van or even better a saloon, there was a huge demand for them.I recall if you advertised one in the local evening paper, there would be punters queuing the next morning to buy it,I kid you not ! .....Does anyone know why they were so popular despite being crap ?
  16. Just seen this,18% drop,it's an over reaction,if they drop to 21.5p ,I am having 10k,if they drop more ,I'm having some more ! See what happens to Vertu, they could self destruct .
  17. Hi Guys With that CV you will definateley be OK.Just keep asking questions on here if you need stuff and people will help.
  18. Hi Mr C I do agree that your pitch appears very cheap. However,I think the location is poor, that is why I say it is a cheapie pitch or Gumtree pitch. So you cannot make much money there because of consumer regs.IMO I would rather pay £800 per week for the same pitch on a good main road location where passing trade will generate at least 3 per week selling better stuff, plus the added benefit of being able to buy in at the door.....One other thing, why is your guy charging VAT on rent. !
  19. It's a 'cheapy pitch',no passing trade. Unfortunateley the days of retailing cheapies from a pitch have gone.
  20. Hi Dean 12 miles away !,that could be a 3 hour round trip. When you start doing 2 or 3 per week,it is too far because you will have 3 or 4 in prep also.I would look round for a 'gopher' now, there will be someone,a friend of a friend who may be retired who needs to get out more etc.You could ask local taxi drivers which workshops they use.As for Dollies, never used them,I have never seen a good trader who uses one.
  21. When I started,we gave the punters a choice - one month mechanical parts warranty or they could be covered for 20,000 miles and up to the nearest set of traffic lights whichever came first.....
  22. I don't understand that ,unless you are just referring to your local Manheim ?
  23. Hi Lemoj You have just received valuable advice. I would suggest sending Arfur a grand......an good accountant or solicitor would charge a lot more I am sure he will provide you with an invoice.
  24. Most of us will not understand the bit about trains ! If you are doing the same stuff now as when you were selling a lot more, you have probably increased your margins. The brief experience I had down there ( South London) I learned that because the traffic is constantly gridlocked, punters would not travel more than 5 miles unless the price was dead right !
