Couple of bits I thought I'd share as could help others. Had a call from Lloyds last week, given me a new business manager, anyway we were chatting and the only request I had was an overdraft facility which I thought they'd say no. This was Thursday. Friday he rang me at agreed time of 11am and by 11.30am we had a 10k overdraft facility on the account, 9% is the rate calculated per annum so if I used the full £10,000 for the full year it would cost approx £900 in interest, so less than £100 a month. He said Lloyds are starting to focus on motor trade and gave specialist team/division to deal with it, he is part of this team. £145 set up fee. Second bit is I'm not sure if this info is widely available but you can pay cash into a business account directly at the post office. Ours has a limit of £2k a day, but they said there's nothing stopping me putting in £2k Monday, £2k Tuesday, £2k Wednesday depending how much I have. They said bigger post offices have larger limit (ours is just a local village one). There is absolutely NO CHARGE and the money was clear in our account before I left the door. Cheers.

Save you some time there is no way to bend the rules sooner or later you end up with a big fine or in the dock. You only have to look at the recent news with footballers and managers being stung for millions no matter how big you are or how clever your accountants are they all get caught sooner or later.

What Grant is saying is that the dealer reduces his sold out price by £400 saying that the £400 is not part of his margin but the cost of his warranty (which is an insurance product). Insurance products are exempt from VAT but: "something is insurance for VAT purposes if it’s an activity that requires the provider to be authorised as an insurer under the provisions of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA)." So if that dealer is not authorised as an insurer under FSMA he is in trouble.

to the OP, get legal advice first, and if you have a chance take a good solicitor with you during mediation. I had to do mediation (separate issue with a builder) and my solicitor was invaluable. Get proper legal advice.

This is where me and you differ, the thought of that £ fiver that left the petrol tank as soon as you pressed the start button would depress me :-)

Wilcox or similar do a rubber dogbrush. In the old days, my old man made me wrap sellotape around my hands (sticky side out obviously) you can use thicker tape, tape a large area and pull it off. Otherwise it’s just elbow grease and brush and hoover as you go.

I need to come and work for you (free of course) for a weekend David, I think it will make a real difference to my dealer education :-)

we sell quite a few unseen, but we never deliver to a customer who hasn't been on site and seen the car. Being in the lakes we have people who buy online not seen the car come and collect and make a weekend break of it.

I've checked with Lawgistics and you can sell only to finance buyers if this is what you want to do. Mark, how do you have a LIKE button? I have the Edit back but no Like.

There’s only a few worried about diesels around my way, not enough to scare me away from them. Worriers more likely to be academics and arts n crafts types. Customers who are not normally my cup of tea.
