Anything. I had chemical guys orange degreaser and then I just got some “no nonsense” degreaser from Screwfix.

Jet wash the bay itself, the outer part, don’t touch the engine. Spray degreaser on the engine cover and other plastic covers, battery covers, head etc. Wipe off with some paper towels. Spray on some auto glym vinyl and rubber care, close the bonnet and run the engine for 10 mins. Open the bonnet and mop up any pools of the auto glym stuff. Voila. This is more than enough to give the engine a look of being clean and a little sheen without actually touching anything that matters with chemicals or worse, water. If you’re looking to be very careful, bag up any terminals or wiring with clingfilm or sandwich bags and twisties but it’s a lot safer to just get the leaves and shit blasted out of the edges of the bay and make the plastics shine a little. Job done in 5 mins plus 10 mins drying time.

Don’t do it unless it really really needs it. Then as little water as possible after a soaking of TFR (avoid obvious electricals). I then soak the lot in WD40 to prevent corrosion, repel any water that did unavoidably come into contact with electrical contacts. Only thing worse than a dirty engine = a broken clean one.

My first port of call for everything (non service related) is the main agents. Often cheaper, always quicker and always fit as supposed to.

I came back to this as I have just taken an order from a company in Poland, started off with text messages a fortnight ago, then went to email and more emails then finished today with a nice cash injection, lovely way to finish a week .

Yep, I remember Barry, sadly I don't have the correct emoticon lololol A lot of inepts are still doing that, and get sent on wild goose chases ................. Why ?? Because the vast majority of modules etc need version coding these days, specific to the Car, so you swap f.e. an Airbag Module, it has exactly the same part number, but it came from a higher specced Merc VW whatever of the same model, so you fit it, light is still on !! Why, because the car it came from had side airbags and your car does not, (or vice versa), so it needs to be version coded on Dealer Level Kit, also some very expensive Generics will do basic coding on some modules on some cars I'm learning every day !! Here's a good 'un ................. I Just sorted out an HVAC fault on a 2014 E Class, 2 Main Dealers and 1 Indie baffled, so they sent it to me They've had the Dash out twice, changed sensors, flap motors, blower control module, HVAC module etc still not fixed after £1000's. Anyone know what was wrong ?? .......................... ......................... ......................... ......................... Fluff etc in the UCP Temperature Sensors little tiny Fan, stopping it drawing the Upper Cabin Air through to the Sensor, 10 minutes with Vacuum Cleaner, and 8.5 minutes of that was getting it out from under the bench and plugging it in How did I find that ? .................... Sat in the Car for 10 minutes watching all the data with SDS Xentry as the heater was going beserk blowing hot / cold flat out / slowly etc etc A tenners worth of OBD reader certainly won't do that I don't think the guy believed me this morning when I said it was all fixed and ready for collection I'm not sayin' what I actuallycharged the Guy for that, but it was a helluva lot cheaper for me to actually fix it, than all the money he's already wasted with 3 firms who didn't actually fix it !!

It’s a lead... ring them and sell yourself / services to them.

Some people just love texting and dont like phone calls. Reel them in, ask for the cars reg, mileage, mechanical and bodywork condition and if v5 is in their name. from that you can say you can give them a reasonably close valuation. people are strange, have had quite a few text conversations which I think are going nowhere and then out of the blue a viewing and sale is done. Always worth following a lead even if it doesnt look that promising.

I’m fortunate that I have 3500 and can get 20 in with a squeeze. I also have plenty of space outside so do not need to stuff them in... rents also cheap down here with no rates but it’s that commitment to a 4/5k break even point each month.. you need balls to commit. OP, hold back until you are confident you can make the sales... if you are confident, it looks like good value to me... Btw welcome AD

I wonder how many members have put me in their "ignore" section....

I think you can switch off being able to see certain members posts on your screen, so if someone you dislike winds you up, you don't see that shit, and maybe's they cant see your posts either .............. That's how it works on the Forum I Mod
