Here is what you guys need, how many previous owners including MOT history and tax band for free. Your welcome http://www.cardatachecks.co.uk/ It does limit how many checks you can do though in 24 hours though but least its free and better than nowt (And yes "your" is spelt wrong above.)

I know a family who ran a car and van hire business for over 50 years. They were always busy with a big customer base.Three years ago they closed down and sold up.I think it was the insurance that did it.....

I really hate it when adverts say 'not modified in any way...... except....' Really pisses me off. Same as 'Amazing condition inside and out..... except...'.

Apologies Met,to northerners, the term ‘Del Boys’ refers to people who reside in London or the surrounding area and speak with a London accent.Punters still come up,the last one I can recall, came for a very cheap high spec galactic mileage Volvo S80 Auto because it was black.I think he had some sort of limo business. The ones who come up for the first time having looked around, usually comment on how lucky we are to live here.I could never understand this, until I got involved with a pitch in South London ! As for us coming down to London,we are a good example,we have been buying down there for 25 years.

Lawgistics purchase receipts state clearly the buyer confirms they understand it is their responsibility to return in the event of a claim. Irrespective of distance, it is their responsibility to return in the event of a CRA claim. You can allow a remote goodwill repair which if worded correctly will not count as the (one chance right to repair). That's why you need to judge each claim as per its merit / risk / worth / pain in the assness. Is assness a word.... ? BTW, my 4 year old asked me today why hail (hailstones) is called hail ? Answers please....

I think any car dealer needs to know the law better than the customers so you can be completely confident in your decisions and what you should be doing / not doing. I use Lawgistics and had a customer take me to court. I had responded and defended well confident in the law and my position of the law but the actual going to small claims court was different and I had no knowledge. Ended up having the large claim struck out thanks to me defending well initially and lawgistics keeping me moving in the right direction at the end. Struck out at the last minute and I was in a very good mood that week. The worst customer I have ever had the misfortune of selling a car to so far who sent complaint letters totalling 20+ pages at a time.

Lawgistics is like having big brother looking after you. I used them once last year on a guy who purchased a Range Rover Sport Supercharged, he was demanding a full refund months later on some strange rule in the distance sales regulations, well after a response from Lawgistics he then changed his tact to claiming thousands for alleged repairs, again another very well written letter asking him to return it for an inspection, he confirmed his appointment to return and didn’t show up. You get coverage for 5 cases a year, but you can ring up for advice as much as you like. They even gave me help with advice on rental on my unit. In my book Lawgistics are worth every penny. I cannot recommend them highly enough

Hi guys, Just after your pearls of wisdom. We have two sites run by just us over worked directors at the moment but are looking to take on a fresh recruit to ease the workload and, hopefully, make us a bit more efficient. Not having employed anyone before we're a bit clueless so have the accountant in tomorrow to see how it's going to work money wise. What should we be looking out for/avoiding/asking? Basically what mistakes have you all made that we can learn from? The recruit will most likely be aged 25+ and used for the complete sales process ie; getting the vehicle delivered/collected from the valeters, photo'd, up on the web, test driven, sold, MOT and service work phoned through to the usual garage, handover pack prepped and then the handover itself. After sales issues made note of and dealt with once authorised by the directors, enquiries answered, general cleaning of the office when needed etc. Basic salary + commission per sale + commission per vehicle bought from Joe Public + commission on any finance deal executed. All deals to be run past a director before authorised. We're a Lawgistics member so will probably use a lot of their downloadable employment stuff such as a health and safety form, employee details form etc. Thanks in advance you wise old owls.
