Btw Nick yours are live your silver C Class shows high.

How are my markers live for some and not for others? I am looking on iPhone, iPad and Mac computer (without account) and the new markers aren't live for me

All I can think of they are trialling them still for a small percentage of users. We will get an email when they go live across the board

So basically some people can see the new High and Fair price markers, some can't.

Nice one, Nick!

So all we have to do now is to test some more removing more insignificant bits of info from the vehicle information to see which one will trip the price algorithm.

I can't do much because I'm PAYG, but it's interesting to see there's a workaround. Shame it's in the public forum though.

I think Dealer Portal has had a few issues today with the price markers, I put up a Fabia Auto today which it told me to buy yesterday for £2700 with their valuation and today when I put the price in at £3999 it said the retail value was £2500 and my car was £1500 overpriced!! Then it changed it's mind again and valued it correctly at £4600, and priced it as low which is where it should be.

Do these price markers actually make any difference though, I have a few cars priced as low but the phone isn't falling off the wall?

I was speaking to the proprietor of the Mitsubishi dealership that I mentioned earlier whose the majority of their cars are priced High/Fair and he wasn't too happy about it, one thing he did say worried me a little though. He mentioned reducing his prices across all of his stock to get rid of some of the markers, yet if all the main dealers start doing this then surely the average price will drop and the cars we have advertised with Good markers then become fair to high?

How to bite the hand that feeds. Force margins down by creating pressure to lower prices. Frankly ludicrous. Consumers may live it but they aren’t the ones paying for it.

About our price indicator

We've compared the seller's asking price to our Auto Trader Valuation and rated this car a High price compared to similar cars on the market.

Our price labels are intended to help you understand if the car has been priced fairly so you can make an informed decision.

Price rating categories

Low priceMuch lower than the market price

Great priceSlightly below market price

Good priceClose to market price

Fair priceSlightly above market price

High priceAbove the market price

High-priced cars may be in exceedingly good condition, or the seller may offer additional benefits like a warranty, which could be why it’s priced above market.

We recommend you check the description or ask the seller for more info.

Cars with no price rating

  • Brand new or nearly new
  • Rare or classic
  • Listed by private sellers
  • Priced below £1,500
  • Priced above £50,000
  • Over 15 years old
  • Cat C/D/S/N
  • Imported

How we do the maths

Every day we combine and analyse data from millions of vehicles. We use this data to work out a car's current market price, taking into account things like make, model, year, mileage, fuel type and optional extras.

The following is not included in our calculations, but may affect the car's price:

  • The car's condition
  • The car's colour
  • Regional supply and demand
  • Special modifications
  • Additional services, warranties, admin

Great. “Imported” it is then.

Just untick “This is a Uk vehicle”

Remove reg number or VIN number from Vehicle Details and Stock Management.

If problems with data check are flagged just remove VIN.

No marker.

No data check result.

Thanks Nick but that wasn't my comment!
