Pretty sure there was a thread about this before. We don't do anything yet, although it would be a nice touch.

I think i read it but though it was more to do with changing plates though i could be wrong wouldn't be the first time  sorry for the repeated thread if not ..

my next question was going to be any thoughts on suppliers of branded promotional items

No I don't mean you're repeating a thread. God knows I've repeated enough threads.

I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Not far above basics to be honest. No doubt in the morning everyone will chime in.

Thanks .  And of course your opinion helps and as you said earlier will always take advice

I don't think you can ever know to much or not enough I've been in the trade since 1999 through different aspects did some property/ land planning to  was chatting to old guy at the auction the other week who has did it 50 years and still keeps his hand in . Every day is school a school day and i still make school boy errors sometimes ..so guess in comparison to him I'm not far above the basics either lol

strangely i only found the forum a few months ago though I've read the mag before my old boss subscribed to it   .

When you see Trade Vet again, tell him to come back here

Please use some full stops, it is too early in the morning to work out where a sentence stops and starts - it’s like reading (listening) on speed. :P

I have my own branded number plates carrying the EU logo, with borders and a drop down tab at the bottom with 2 phone numbers and website.  Never really thought a lot about it until my mate reckons when he's out trucking,  he can pick out one of my cars from about 50 metres away.  Apparently something about them is quite distinct, which cant be a bad thing. Whether they will be as distinct without the EU logo post Brexit I'm not so sure!

Also rear window stickers, nothing fancy, but I always thought they are quite important. Gives the car behind something to read when stuck in traffic!  To be fair, I think key fobs are a waste of time.  They only advertise to those who already bought from you.

I don't bother. My buyers wouldn't care and it's more £££ off the bottom line. Maybe one day I will if I started doing something more specialised.

I pay about £14 for the two plates and less than 50p per sticker. People then seeing your name on cars breeds familiarity with your business in your area.  Everyone to their own, but a new set of plates freshens anything up I find.

New plates & window stickers for me - I am certain it is more of a pride (ego trip) thing for me in all honesty.  Love seeing a car I have sold and a happy customer (or preferably a new owner )

Definitely an ego trip thing!  If you drive past one are you like me and interrupt somebody in mid-sentence to just say - "one of mine there".

Touch wood I have never seen one of mine on a recovery truck! Tidy record in 14 years! Probably has happened somewhere but has never involved me. I'm a bit fussy over what I sell, tends to help.

I like seeing them when out and about- particularly cool (do people say that anymore) if a bit out of the town.

Speak to them? Don't be silly! 'It's been a good car, apart from I had to replace a tyre the other year, and the brakes....'

Now that is easy to follow B)

I saw your location and then read your posts in my head at 100mph with a Scottish accent - made me want a Scotch but it was too early.

100% yes.  I love branding but I doubt very much whether someone seeing a window sticker will lead to a sale but you never know.  A next owner might try to PX thinking they'll get a better deal but more likely the original owner will remember who to call when it breaks.

Does anyone else get annoyed when they see a customer has removed your sticker from their car?

How dare they! Bleddy cheek.

Its as if they own it or something.

Strangely, their service always seems slightly more expensive the next year.

What surprises me more is when people DO NOT remove those awful Arnold Clark stickers.

I had a choice of decal and went for individual letters with no backing.  I think the classier they look, the more likely they will remain.

Cost is £3 a car vs. £0.50 per car for one on a plain background.

Yes!  Had one guy back in a few times. Every time we put a new sticker in, it was missing when came back

Ended up shelling out for an auto gearbox rebuild (guess the nationality of the car) you’d have thought he’d have been grateful

They are horrific and look so cheap and nasty stuck on the outside of the window. I know they are bright and eye catching - but for all the wrong reasons!

Fortunately they are a rare sight down here in Cornwall!

If you ever asked they will say it either blocks the view or "I'm not advertising for you!". Fine, but don't be my "mate" next time you want a deal.

Unfortunately, I perceive it as a customer who wouldn't want it to be known they had bought from an indy. Oh the shame!

Would rather the neighbours thought they had been to a main dealer.  Funny how they are always too tight spend out on changing the plates as well though!

First thing I remove when I buy a car .

Thing is you see a lot of half arnold clark stickers on rear windows up here .

With the other half ripped torn or missing why not just take the rest off .

Mark you can not beat a full Scottish breakfast or any good breakfast for that matter .

Funny you should mention that one of guys I speak to at auction .

Changes the plates to dealer plates on Prestige stuff buying the plates from the dealer and changing them from lex auto lease etc

Strange thing is he has his own garage workshop mot station and has his own plate printer which prints company details  on plates .

Guess there is an element of snobbery with the neighbours right enough .

You want to watch him, he's obviously catching up.

He'll be doing pinstripes next!

Its an age thing I guess.

I do feel guilty though with the total waste of plastic I create dumping the old plates. Heard of one guy who somehow incorporated them into repairing doors using them as a flat panel to apply filler against!

Safe to say, I never used him.
