j4ck100 12 Posted September 25, 2015 Zafira go for big money if they are clean I've been wanting one for a while. I do OK with the Grand C4 Picasso (with a manual box). that 1.6hdi engine is a nightmare with turbos though. Did a lot of reading and it's a fundamental flaw one engine blew through 4 turbos In as many months
sparky 274 Posted September 25, 2015 that 1.6hdi engine is a nightmare with turbos though. Did a lot of reading and it's a fundamental flaw one engine blew through 4 turbos In as many months I think the problem is in the Grand Picasso the turbo is having to work a lot harder than it does in say a 208. That and poor servicing including not replacing the injector seals is the main reason for their failure. If an engine blew 4 turbos in as many months then something doesn't stack up there. My guess would be that the whole job including replacing pick up pipes, filters etc hasn't been done right or the turbo is a Eurocarparts special
Tom 164 Posted September 25, 2015 that 1.6hdi engine is a nightmare with turbos though. I only buy them with FSH and low miles. They need regular oil changes to keep the oil pipe clean to the turbo. Oil changes should be done 8-10k miles. The only problem I had was the oil seal on the oil pump which was a big job for a 50p seal. When buying any car with this engine Ford/Mini/PSA look underneath at the under tray and check for oil dampness in the corner near drivers foot well is a give away.

SC Derby 259 Posted September 26, 2015 We had a 56k 1.8 Grand Picasso, first one I ever bought, developed a misfire and NOBODY could fix it, incl specialists and a Citroen diagnosis. It was intermittent. We lost a fortune on that car - clutch also went.
Rory RSC 596 Posted September 26, 2015 Mad busy here today. 5 Cars sold on my own with valeter being sent on test drives. Not one discount given. Ready for a curry and to sleep tonight. 2 packets of Space raider crisps for the working lunch has not quite satisfied my hunger.

Steve92 80 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) To be honest no worse than anything else, we tend to buy them with no work required and only with Opc history and with the balance of a Porsche warranty. A Porsche warranty is always going to cover more than any aftermarket warranty a gives buyers piece of mind. If they are tatty or sound like they have any expensive bills then we walk away. the last Cayman I collected had just been serviced by Porsche at a cost of just under £1000 and only 6 days before collection so it I theory should be good for stock.we did take a z4 in px and only after we agreed a price did we notice the massive dent it the wing and a broken nose cone. A bit of machine polishing is needed to. Edited September 26, 2015 by Steve92
SC Derby 259 Posted November 2, 2015 Good start to the week. Picked up two good bits of stock this morning (2008 Mazda 6 2.5 Sport with 43k in black FDSH and a nice 2004 Merc C Class 1.8 K AvantGarde SE with 70k on it again FSH)Both look to have a good four figures profits, and then had a customer waiting for me here at 10.30, easiest deal in the world on a C4 1.6 SX I had in on Monday. Hope it carries on like this
