So  I am a bit early but I wanted to be ready to catch the wave!

Sounds almost like going on a summer holiday to the Med in February.

I wish you every success though.

Hi Rovex

I am not sure there will be 90% EV’s in 10 years. If you are right and rapid charge technology arrives, a lot of car pitches might be more valuable as charging stations.

Good luck and please keep us dinosaurs informed how you are doing.

Brave man, I wouldn’t know of a trader who I could offer a 3 yr old leaf to, I stock 60 cars from Hyundai i10 to Bentley Continental and I would stain my pants at thought of having a leaf in stock.... but maybe I am an old dinosaur so I wish you well..... but I wouldn’t set off on my jollies in one....

It's a guess, and I did say 90% of new sales, not 90% of total on the road stock.

See - its get big or get niche, how many years will it be till I have 60 cars if ever?  Thats why I am specialising. Got to place your bets and see how things fall out...

So now I have another question, Nissan has mailed me and offered me an extension of the Warranty but I have to take it by the 20th Dec to get these prices

Clearly they are not too confident the car is going to last 3 more years!

  • 1 YEAR - £227.00
  • 2 YEAR – £447.00
  • 3 YEAR - £1,057.00

it seems to me that a year or two of Dealer warranty might be a good selling point but it's a lot of money to invest when I have no experience of who the customers are for this kind of vehicle...

What do you think?

i think you should know this already , clearly not done your homework on ev, i, would have been on the phone to dealers long before buying with serious questions !

I think he might be on to something specialising in EV’s and Hybrids.  It’s certainly the future, but is the future now or is it still orange?

I don’t know, I think I’d rather have them than some German diesel auto junk -that’ll be 3k plus when the gearbox poops itself etc..

Will. E very interested to see how you go on Rovex

‘Will be’ even. Oh how I miss my Like and Edit buttons. :o(

It 'is' the future, whether we like it or not. Especially when he can start acquiring specialist knowledge and contacts for repair work. Interesting.

i'd rather stick pins in my eyes than sell Micra's around here!:D

CRIKES! TV, I think we’re on a different planet up here with our punters. Just imagine trying to sell one of these up north? I’d be smoking it for years.

.......and imagine telling a punter “Oh yes Sir, the car is £xxxx BUT you also need to pay monthly for the batteries”. I’d expect to be told/asked “Fuck off, you’re joking?” by a typical older-car buyer.

.......or imagine the calls from London & the suburbs all wanting it delivered f.o.c. (Cos the friggin things would take 4 days to get there with their pisspoor range & the time needed to “refill the tank”).

.......or on an ‘owner battery’ car the £3000 batteries go ‘tits up’ on a customer and you try one of Arfurs/Lawgistics letters advising the customer that “wear n tear ain’t included in the CRA”. That case wouldn’t go away quickly around these parts!

I think I’ll stick with piston engines for another few years.

I'm sure over the next few years all the smokey old bangers will get shipped up north for you!:D

I hope so. We like a bit of smoke up here, it reminds us of when there was some heavy industry & employment rather than whippets & rickets.

I agree with the comment about Leafs being betamax, whatever we have now is no way going forward.

When i was in the corporate world i ran a leaf for two years, at the start it was the dogs, so cheap to lease with all the grants, free parking in towns, charging places always empty and i could rock up any time of day and park in the charging spot, right in town. Really removed any worries about range etc.  By the end of the two years i had had enough, everyone was onto it, this meant no more free parking, no more charging spaces free they are always busy and what do you do if you turn up and need to charge? It started to be come such a ball ache we went back to petrol.

Oh and i had one of those Honda CRZ things in recently as a swapper looked forward to driving it wow how disappointing was that, what a piece of crap, much better to have a efficient small petrol.  Not that it matters up North as we still love the black stuff!

Be wary of the twelve bar life you could have 87% life the day you buy it and next day the 85% happens and you lose a bar, it really does need a simple way to see the actual battery life if these cars are to move in to main stream used market.

Good Luck in your venture you are a brave pioneer!
