Corsa D ECU water ingress

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just recovered a corsa back that we sold and all signs point to the ECU.

Common issue I know, but it's been a few years since we had one done at ECU Testing who were good but they have gone from £350 to £650!

Anyone had this done elsewhere? I hear of BBA reman but don't know what they are like.

Any recommendations?

We sent one to BBA reman a couple of years ago and it came back the same as before. We sent it back and they had another look at it but told us it was fixed but it wasn't, I think we gave them £350 if I remember correctly, No refund

Bba are conmen in my opinion, ecu testing or actronics are the the ones I'd normally use.

Never heard of the Corsa D having common problems with the ECU head gasket issues yes but ecu no, i give a second shout to ECU testing always done top work for me, we used to send them a lot of amplifier faults never had a single problem.

Ecustogo

top guy specialises in Vauxhall ecus. Very knowledgeable and willing to help.

What’s the symptoms?

BCM reprogramming is common on the early ones.

Started misfiring then refused to start. Throwing various fault codes, ECU looks soaked I'm afraid. I've had a few done years ago by ECU Testing so I know they can do it but don't understand the hike in price.

BBA reman seem to get a lot of poor reviews...

Blue hawk electronics 1/4 the price of BBA Raman, we had same problem about a year ago on a 2010 corsa d.. saved us about £800 not going with BBA, 3 day turn around and the car fired up first time no problems ever since.

Make sure you get rid of all the debris in the skuttle panel and reseal the skuttle with clear silicone, you can also put a plastic bag around the ecu to further protect it.

I wouldnt use a plastic bag myself over time it acts like a greenhouse and doesnt allow the water to escape just holds it there to ingress into the unit

Never had problems with BBA myself in the past , but I've got a unit with them at present so be interesting to see if their service has gone south

I used ECU testing for my last corsa d ecu and they sent it back saying there was nothing wrong with it..... there clearly was. Ended up having to get one of ebay coded to the car...... worked a treat.

ECU Testing are 20 mins up the road from us and they have expanded to massive new premises, loads of new kit etc, so not sure if thats behind the price increases?

He is virtually unbeatable on Vauxhall stuff, he even repairs Focus Instrument clusters at half the price of BBA and the others......

Any ideas on how much a new ECU for a Corsa from ECUSTOGO?

Im afraid I’m a novice but looks like my ECU is water damaged, opened it up and corrosion on the board.

thanks in advance

It was around £400 from memory, there are cheaper guys out there when I was looking but this guys feedback and speedy service did it for me as I had a ranting customer who wanted the car fixed quickly.

Ecustogo

Some of the local lads use him & I've never heard a bad word. My only contact was about a year ago, over the phone he diagnosed the issue & told me what to do to correct the problem - he’s only a few miles away & could of easily opted to take the part & charge me, but didn’t.
