HKQAC 2 Posted December 7, 2017 Where do the big boys, such as trade centre wales, cargiant, carbase, evans halshaw, source there cars from? I've noticed alot of these dealers will have serveral cars in stock with very similar number plates e.g. GC65 OMN & GC65 OMO as if they have been sourced from the factory but they have 20k mileage and obviously been owned. Just got me curious if anybody has any insight what these big dealers do to source there cars from?
justlooking 48 Posted December 7, 2017 with very similar registration plates like that I guess they could be from Hire car companies such as Hertz or Avis? wouldn't surprise me if they sourced direct from motability. I'll stop guessing and let someone with the facts come forward
Dealer 54 Posted December 7, 2017 Tcw gets a lot from. Manheim, reason the plates may be similar etc is due to the ex mobility and fleet sales which are held and they bulk buy

trade vet 702 Posted December 7, 2017 They have buyers who attend auctions all over the country.I would imagine they now employ on line buying specialists. Then you have Greenhouse for the nearly new stuff and I would imagine Motorpoint have deals with big leasing companies where they buy brand new stuff at hefty discounts. The supermarkets are under big pressure to buy stock, they usually have huge stocking loans to service,so that is why when you attend auctions ,stuff you want can bring £1000 over your own valuation.I remember driving through the night in snow storms to get to Nottingham one Friday thinking the M1 would be blocked and the Great Trade Centre guy would not be there,he was of course,I think he bought the first 80 ex lease cars ! Hi Tradex I don’t think we are talking about the same people.I am referring to what is now called Car Giant, which I believe may be the biggest car pitch in the world. Frankieola 22 Posted December 8, 2017 (edited) Do you mean Trade Sales in Slough rather than the Great Trade Centre in white city (which is now car giant)? And as for consecutive number plates at places, Well I know Motorpoint buy directly from the used car department at the manufacturer I represent.... and they must buy in bulk because the can retail them for cheaper than I can buy them for!!!
