The dreaded post sale phonecall

Recommended Posts

Anyone else always dread getting a call from a customer they've recently sold a car to?

My latest is a guy who bought an RS6 last week, thought he heard a weird noise from the rear brakes and took it to a specialist to check it out and they've found;

Oil leak- common issue but was fixed by Audi last year.

Corroded water pipes.

intercooler leaking.

These sort of calls should really make me stop selling these sort of cars. Bye bye profit...

The words "hello I bought a car from you" on the phone is rarely good.

I don't mind these calls so long as they follow the sentence with "hello, i bought a car from you" breath and a think "ooh over six months ago...." :D

I had one last week, guy owned the car 4 days and decided he didn't like it. I bought it back for £2k less. Not always bad

your pdi and road test prior to sale  should have eradicated all these problems

What does the self-appointed specialist call an oil leak & rusty pipes? You know what 50% of these boys are like, they prey on the minds of the pernickety but car-ignorant owner.

A damp patch around a gasket & a little surface corrosion on pipes on a secondhand car doesn’t necessarily warrant attention. Brand new is available from the Audi main dealer, but there’s a reason why your buyer didn’t go there.

They just go round cars and expect them to be like brand new. Nightmare when a customer goes to one of these places with a 5-10 yr old performance car.

Had one the other week who told customer car needed full exhaust system on a VXR, due to minor surface corrosion. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it at all.
