  1. I like an Auris and that's lovely mileage. On a pitch we find them easy enough, much nicer to be in than an Astra or Focus and better reliability, usually in better condition too. So long as it's not silver you shouldn't struggle.
  2. Worst month in the last four years for us. However we did seven today which has helped the month out no end. Good to hear some of you are having it away, that isn't the general feeling around our way.
  3. I don't get it either. A friends parents recently bought an early VW camper minibus thing for close on 30k, not my bag but a real gorgeous looking thing. I think they were hoping it would change their lives like a lot of these expensive white elephants. Took it on a trip to France, got four miles from home before it conked out. They'd only been out in it once before and had a sudden and scary understanding of what drum brakes were that time. Best place for it's a museum or real enthusiast who can tinker with it every weekend. Instead it's sitting on the drive rotting which is a real shame. They've just started sailing lessons and bought a (cheap...it's all relative) yacht. Mid life crisis or not my mate's not gonna see much inheritance that's for sure!
  4. Our only proper 1 star review comes from a 206CC. Horrid things. One of those 'never again' units.
  5. Each to their own but we find sub prime as easy as near or prime, usually easier and more thankful tbh. Nice enough people usually, grateful for a car, often working hard but on a low income. They don't scream any louder or more often than anyone else. Frankly if sub prime punters weren't catered for then I reckon 70% of the UK wouldn't be buying cars. The paperwork is the same for any grade of strap...it's not like you have to be extra careful with sub prime, treat them all cautiously . These days with online portals it's pretty hard to cock up a finance deal so long as you stick to procedure. On the subject of strapping up an old Cooper S though I completely agree. The very thought of just stocking one makes me sweat but strapping it up is giving me the shivers!
  6. LIKE We talked about these conversions today after seeing a really nice older one a punter rolled up in. Doesn't suit my lifestyle and 30K buys a lot of hotel rooms with room service, pools and relaxing baths but if I was gonna buy one I know who i'd be calling for a top job!
  7. F***ing terrible month. Had some very good ones this year though so can't moan too much.
  8. +1 Doing a job you hate grinds you down physically, emotionally, mentally. I've had relationships and friendships suffer in the past which i'd directly link to my old career/how I reacted to it. That doesn't happen now, not that this was a job i'd ever given much thought to before. DC01...it's a bloody roller coaster, terrible days of nothing but screamers and finance declines but then you knock out an unexpected hat trick and nick a couple of choppers and you're on cloud nine. Not many jobs like it but whatever you do good luck.
  9. Travel aside if workload and money are stressful then it's worth giving it the serious consideration you are. I reckon I spend 70% of my working day behind a laptop and doing admin...there's a high workload away from the car side of things and always something waiting to catch you out. That said, there is nothing like working for yourself. Whether it's knocking out used metal or something completely different it's much more satisfying being in control (to an extent) of how you run your show. I used to suffer a lot of stress as an employee, mostly borne from incompetent management and a a lack of control of my role. That's all gone now (only to be replaced by other stresses)! Best of luck if you do jump in and have a good read through the forum, wealth of advice on here from these chaps.
  10. Yep, going to have a check with the original customer tomorrow and hop onto the phone with DVLA tomorrow if required. Cheers for the advice all.
  11. Thanks ^^^ I think the shock of selling a car this month caused my brain to go into meltdown!
  12. Nope, got the v5 and new keeper slip here...always hang onto them for a few weeks for this very reason. The doc ref I assumed cannot be used twice?
  13. Guys, stupid question but i'm having a brain freeze. Sold a carfew days ago, taxed, driven off etc. Backed it two days later which was all fine. We've kept the v5 and green slip but now i've just sold it to someone else and am wondering how we can tax it for them given that the doc ref number has already been used? Is there an easy way other than filling in a v62 at the post office?
  14. I've got 20 litres of weedkiller and a garden strimmer to play with today so i'll be alright. The less I converse with billys the better at the moment!
  15. Same location and we've been dead all month. The only footfall I had all day yesterday summed up the month by offering £600 off a 3k minter...promptly shown the door but it says it all really
  16. Could you PM me your page when you get five mins...I would like to get into trying a bit of insta for work but i've no idea what content should be...it's difficult to feel inspired by a 59 plate fabia or a zetec fiesta!
  17. Cheap car that IMO but i'd put some silver wheel trims on it myself
  18. Good to hear some of you boys are busy, hopefully it'll trickle through! Getting some right b*llends at the moment. I know you notice them more when it's quiet but Christ, i'm beginning to worry for the world.
  19. I didn't read the OP properly and thought it was £10 per car PER DAY! £10 per week is pretty good IMO. I don't know the area well but the other halfs parents are from Stamford. There was a nice gravelled site up that way on Rightmove commercial recently which didn't sell, I don't have the details but you might find it with a bit of googling. I nearly fell over at the asking price...three years rent at my place would have bought the freehold, amazing how cheap life is north of London.
  20. Depends how many you've got in stock but it doesn't sound cheap if you've more than a couple. Makes our pitch sound reasonable...don't tell the landlord!
  21. Snap. September was strangely busy but this month has been dire. We're in a similar location and seeing no footfall or enquiries at all.
  22. Good to hear it. No point making it all work, work, work. Be a long time dead as our MOT tester says (as he breathes in another smokey old oil burner!)
  23. You need to take more time of chap unless you've got an end goal? The mechanic we use does 7 days and he's always fighting a cold or something and it's not doing him any good.
  24. Ha no, we don't get involved with much German stuff. Small GM auto...shame because it would've got me back to site but it was such a nice day I decided to take the long scenic route...not sure the fields and quaint villages were worth the roadside wait!
  25. The film versions pretty enjoyable too. DW Docs on YT have a good 45 mon thing on Lehmann...who would have thought that economy based cinema would become such a big thing eh :/
