  1. Yeah I had the email too... They're obviously tightening up the loop holes trying to maintain their share of the sales etc... Doesn't really apply in the classifieds with it being fixed fee, but I notice they have also covered watermarks too, i.e. you're no longer allowed to watermark a photo, or have and dealer info in the photos either!

  2. Yes I got one last week as well with the wrong dealer name on it! My first thoughts was is this a legitimate letter or a scam?

I googled the dealership and it was a legitimate one, just obviously not mine!

It's also a bit of a pointless letter really...very odd.

  3. Dean we can't post outbound links, but google 'total car check' and then give them a call.

You can buy in bundles of 50 or 100 and pay upfront and then simply log in and away you go. The history check is comprehensive, but I find the valuations to be as bad as everyone else's even though they allegedly use the same data sets? However that's only ever a pain when buying privately or for PX value...

...had some lads down from Wales on a peachy 156 V6 and bid me good money for it too, they are the Welsh clubman rally car of choice so they tell me?

Oooh Busso power! Was it the 2.5 or 3.0l?

Quite possibly the best engine Alfa have ever built!

  5. I got a Facebook message this morning when I logged in...

    Them:

''I'm interested in this item. Please can you give discount?'' left at 00.39 this morning.

    My reply:

'' I'm sure we could work something out. When would you like to view the car?''

    Them:

    I'm in Liverpool L32 0XB

    My reply:

''Is that some sort of 'princess' way of asking me to bring the car to you?''

Funnily enough the conversation ended...

I noticed that the guys that valet cars at auctions use spray cans of 'jollop' direct onto dirty paint then polish off? Smells like furniture polish but I'm hoping its not:D

There's a few of these waterless car cleaning sprays on the market, most of which originated from American shopping channels. They're really bad for the paint because you're basically rubbing dirty paint with a cloth!

CJ's method is the way to go as they are dead easy to prep again as everything just runs straight off when you show it some water...

Seems to be quite a bit of arguing type posts on here of late with some really childish stuff going on.

I like this board, I have learned loads, contributed and helped lots of others wanting nothing in return and actually made some good contacts who I have met off the board , or speak to regularly who I would class as friends.

Some people  consider the motor trade stressful and its really nice to be able to chat and keep it light hearted with other dealers and share the highs and lows or ask for advice. Lets keep it friendly.

I saw the thread and stayed away for those very reasons...

There's enough 'sheet' going on in the world as it is, so let's keep this place our little escape from the nutters where we can share, help, support and take the pee (in the best possible taste of course :P ) out of each other.

I would happily pay £30 for a solicitors letter in an attempt to get it removed, but I don't have his surname or address, only his first name and mobile number....

Type the mobile number into Facebook and see if it brings up a profile! Likewise in Google...You might be pleasantly surprised!

i just wonder if i plug in a new cluster will it be good to go?

It will probably need a proxy alignment if you switch the clocks... In English you'll more than likely get an Elm light on / flashing display as the live data shows mileage is different in the dash display compared with the engine ECU.

Simple to fix with a diagnostic reset.

The bonnet looks like it's been shot blasted. But I think it's the only panel which is Alfa red. The rest of the car is any red which came to hand and was somewhere close to the right colour..and mostly has been applied so thickly and unevenly you could throw rocks a it and it wouldn't chip.

It's a shame because when you get a good one, nothing beats a shiny red Alfa! Especially a GTV or a ti of some description!

58 plate Alfa GT. low mileage good history but I bought it when I was stoned....although I've never taken a non-prescription drug in my life.

Drug misuse is the only explanation I can give because I'm not colour blind, my eyesites ok for my age and I,m not stupid. But this has had many repairs which were far from "smart" and if there are 50 shades of green, then there must be 70 shades of red.

If I'm ever to part with it, I either need someone who can only see in mono or someone who appreciates every shade of red known to man and some yet to be discovered.

Alfa Red...The softest paint on the planet! Is it stone chipped to death as well? :P

How much you paying for your alloy furb @Rory RSC  be grateful for a contact as I am struggling to find a alloy man who aint some chancer who has started p with a combo van and flick can of silver ;)

    Whereabouts in Cheshire are you?

I use Prestige wheels if it's just the face that needs doing. Their mobile service is great and close enough to a factory finish and its £50 plus VAT per wheel.

Or if they are really bad I use one of the powder coaters like Platinum Coatings who charges £200 for all 4 stripped, repaired and powder coated. That includes tyres removed/replaced and re-balanced.

Hey, sorry I missed the notification. The valuation is given as an average of the market price for that vehicle with similar mileage and age. I wouldn't like to get too specific but Its been pretty accurate so far while testing it. The only factor it doesn't account for is the condition of the car, as I'm not sure how would be best to estimate that. I also think it might throw off the accuracy if it tries to make assumptions about the car's condition.

There should be a blue Pro button on the search page on iPhone. If you're on android I've still got some catching up to do with that version. I'm planning to bring the features in the iPhone version, like valuations, over to Android too.

I'd be interested to see how they stack up to CAP...

In terms of Android this is the biggest market in the UK massively outselling both windows and apple, so I'm surprised you've prioritised that (bad) apple thing! :P

    Get on it man! B)

  17. For me it depends on distance and how flexible 'my can't be arsed' is this week!

I usually stick to a 80 mile rule generally and anything more than that have it delivered. For example last week's winning lottery ticket was in the land of the Geordies and the train ticket for 2 trains and taxi required to get to site as they are always in the middle of bloody nowhere was circa £90.Then there's a full day out there and back to factor in.

So as delivery was only £115 inc vat it was a no brainer really.

Yeah it is... We're just not sure how long things take to fix as the like button and edit functions have been missing for a few of us for a while now. It's not that important, just more annoying than anything else.
