  1. Ouch Matt you have had a shite week! Man hugs dude!

Good look with working with the wife lol... I love mine dearly but working with her as well as living with her...

Err no thanks! I'd rather cut my head off and sheet down the hole!!!:lol:

  2. Throw in a Magic Tree that should seal the deal!

Auction prices are doing my head in at the moment! There's no money in anything that goes under the hammer. I'm buying more and more via other routes at the moment although even with those there's not enough choice coming through quick enough!

  3. Yeah Movex is also tied into A4C (Motorpoint) as their preferred logistics company and to be fair I've not had any problems with them. The most I've paid has been £90 + Vat for around a 120 mile journey. (Driven not trailered) The only gripe I have is that the drivers very rarely phone to say they're leaving, they just turn up unannounced!

Fancied a 61 plate Fiat 500 Lounge in candy red with black cloth interior at our local auction the other day.

    Booked at £3850

Made £4900 to a trade buyer...found a retail one on AT for £5295 within 20 miles with the same miles.

I do a lot of F500's and margin is getting worse and worse. I've seen some traders selling identical cars for almost what I paid for them. Then there's the squeeze from the main dealers doing 42mths PCP at £129 (or less). I haven't bought anything from Manheim or BCA since about last October as it's just the worst avenue for stock at the minute price wise!

Got a Vx Vectra 1.8 exclusiv on a 2007/57 coming in part chop on Saturday morning

    217k

record for a Vauxhall in my experience.

Autotrader guide retail £890 btw :D

Wowser's 217k on a 1.8 petrol!! That's close to death then! Good luck with AT's estimation lol.... More chance of nailing Blancmange to the ceiling!

  6. Well in that case it could just be the EASIEST sale ever! Fingers crossed hey :P

I must admit this kind of transaction would make me nervous... I trust no-one these days as usually when something seems to good to be true it usually is a scam. Just out of interest where's it going? I'm presuming they drive on the same side of the road and that we're cheaper to buy from than her own country?

  7. Rory does it have the Bose upgraded amp and speakers?

I've known the issue to be with the amp fuse blowing in the past, so might be a cheap fix?

Oh forgot to say it's worth checking all your fuses.

If it does have Bose it doesn't work off the radio fuse, I think it's off the interior or dimmer fuse. check them all, all under the bonnet and at the drivers side kick panel, as if memory serves me right that's where the interior fuses are.

  8. Really sorry to hear that, this business is hard enough without having that happen!

I'm not sure about temporary trackers, but what about the old fashioned way of protecting cars, like the steering wheel disc lock.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Car-Steering-Wheels-Parts-Accessories/Disklok-Cover-Silver-Security-Thatcham-Approved-Large/B00SLB6WTI/ref=sr_1_6/254-9027696-9146236?ie=UTF8&qid=1483979067&sr=8-6&keywords=thatcham+disc+lock

...and also removing a spark plug or pulling a fuse to the fuel pump or similar?

Obviously if someone really wants something they'll find away as most of these type of thefts are either to order to use in another robbery.

  9. Seems fairly standard behaviour these days unfortunately and it really boils my p*ss! I've had this happen twice recently where it's been a battle to get them to accept the car back despite them admitting the car was nothing like described. Then account deletion without any notification! Only noticed the last one when I went to log in.

Is it me or is there something about a Volvo estate

We all try and hold off but eventually we all end up in the Volvo.

I'd not really had much dealing with Volvo until recently and was amazed at the amount of bloody door seals in the things! No wonder they stand up well in Scandinavian snow and ice well! My house has more drafts than those things.... I'm not sure I'm quite ready for a pipe and flat cap just yet though!!

  11. I'm finding it difficult to buy estates at the moment as there's such strong bids on them! I think I've lost 15 cars on the bounce as some traders just don't seem to want to put their hand down! I ended up paying £500 over cap clean just before the Xmas break for a V70 R Design, but that was a customer order, so knew what my margin was to begin with, which fortunately was still strong money.

To be fair I don't sell BMW or Audi where the market is flooded with them, so maybe that's the difference? I think spec in this sector really plays a part too though as the base spec models don't seem to attract buyers quickly and tend to hang around.

  12. I had this recently with a Mitsubishi Shogun and politely declined as it's not my niche market, but had previously taken it in as a PX which is how he ended up with it. The compromise was I re-valued it for him, so he realistically knew what to ask, provided a HPI report and fresh MOT for him to include with the sale, (at cost) and helped him with the wording.

It sold the very next weekend for full asking price, so I was quite pleased that it went quickly and I've still got a future customer on-side, so win-win.

  13. Yeah my experience is similar to MJ's in that I haven't had any direct sales, more brand awareness/building if anything. I got a few more likes, shares and followers...

I use it exactly the same as Justina from a targeting perspective and also select the radius from my pitch i.e. 25 miles. I tried selecting specific areas, using the map function, but for some reason couldn't get that to work?

Facebook have recently added the 'marketplace' section, so I'm thinking of giving that a go, although I'll probably have to share my business posts from my personal fb profile like I do to other closed groups. I think it's definitely a grower that will probably equal eBay in the not too distant future.
