  1. Another day of crap leads landing in the inbox. got a couple of props in, one still pending but is being difficult to contact, the other was the normal lying swine who tells you they have not been looking for a car until now. Reality is they have had a car repossessed just a few months back and have been applying for finance with every tom dick and harry since. The other  5 leads the typical don't pick up the phone.

    Very quiet at the min

  2. Hi all

In need of a 7 seater Max £2k And must be 2007 plate onwards, can't be more than 10 years from registration date. Zafira, Carens, Mazda5, Etc Petrol or diesel with the exception of the 2.2 zafira petrol engine

  3. We now have a broker on board so we now have near 15 lenders available including a couple of direct lenders, of which 8 cover near/subprime, The situation this time last year (based on friends in the same sector) and now are worlds apart, The reps will tell you everything is great no issues and we are lending, Promise the world deliver barley nothing.

IMO they have all tightened up lending criteria big time, I am convinced this is to do with the car finance company reduced lending, almost pulling out of the market. its worried the other lenders and their backers so they have tightened up in panic.

The only hope we have is there is a couple of new black box players coming on board in the coming months with new lending stream, this will have knock on effect to the other lenders who will lose props to them and will have to adjust back. I am just going to sit this one out and keep milling away at the leads to get the odd approval.

Corsa on the 58 on tuesday, and got a guy on a Eos today looks like he going ahead, punter prop on a 207 monaco for the morning due in.

Got rid of a banger on the other site to, less than 12 hours on sale, little fabia

It is quiet still, really had to work hard and advertise to get the leads in this week.

Well the 207 lady went quiet did not turn in and switched off her phone.  more applications today all turned down by my main lender, I have added a few more lenders on board this week to try next week as I am getting a little tied with this particular well known subprime lender and there criteria to refuse every deal we prop.  Seems to me they want near prime customers on subprime rates. -_-

Betginge are you on eBay? Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but eBay own Gumtree and as such you can just have all your eBay content uploaded straight onto Gumtree. We have 25 cars with eBay and Gumtree was an extra £140pm (12m min commit) at the time we were looking at it.

It's now £200 and something having just logged into motorspro... but maybe negotiable?!

When I've used it before it's been pretty good for sub £5k stuff. Quirky stock seems to work well.

am on ebay motors, just using up my free two months package at the min. To be fair got a lead on a eos rom the fleabay today which am sure is going to deal so its paid itself anyhow. Gumtree  will go with in the next week or so. Will do a 6 month package and see how it goes. if it gave me 1 deal a month i would be happy as a pig in shit

  7. Facebook is working for us and the leads are coming in. Am just greedy and want more leads as we get a high decline rate on subprime so its just about feeding the machine with props and convert what turns green.

I am willing to give it a go, I intend to use it for driving leads and applications to the website, so someone see's a car as a point of interest on gum tree (from £20pw etc) , see what services we offer, clicks to the site and puts a application in.

  8. Hi Guys

Just been speaking to gum tree about placing adverts via the site, they are offering me a 13 car package for £189pm with all the bells and trinkets etc, Is anyone using them and if so what are you paying as am sure when I spoke to someone about it a wile back its was alot cheaper.

I dont think it is expensive, I mean look at auto trader costs  but I just want to make sure I am not being overpriced on the sales ladies rate card, Being Northern I could not live with the shame of overpaying 50p of my hard earned cash.

  10. You don't need to open the bonnet on BCA cars, The amazing BCA assured scheme will mean the car is mint and there is no need to check or inspect the vehicle. Rest assured its been checked by fully trained professional who has detailed every defect on a comprehensive report for you to read at your leisure.

I am so glad I do not buy from BCA. :D

  11. Sorry Jon but there is good reason why fellow traders are not very forthcoming with help and advice to new traders starting out from home base.

If you are unsure what you should be buying and selling your in for a tough ride and should be asking yourself are you doing the right thing. It amazes me how people think that being a car dealer is easy, It's not.  The only advice I can give to your question is be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them, from this you will find your answers.

Yer we had a few props over the weekend, got one on but I doubt we'll ever see the customer again, the rest were instant rejections. Part and parcel really.

On the subject of Vengas/iX20s - Always done very very well with them myself. Great sit up and beg cars with loads of kit. Natural successor to the Fusion IMO

Agree with that, I will be buying venga and ix20 when they come up right money.

Since car finance company went on the wobble few months back and now is on reduced lending working with only 15 dealers (Im not one of them :() the market has gone on the defence. Lots of dealers have jumped with other subprime lenders which has just made a mess of things IMO. Once stability comes back and a new lender comes on with some new funding I think we will see more acceptances. Looking at my Prop screen the other day and it was a sea of red Declines. If 1/3 of my declines had gone through since we opened few weeks back we would of done very very well.

Anyway it is what it is, Just keep hacking away at the leads to find customers for cars.

  13. another one today

Strangely not on finance, my first cash sale on this pitch. Customer Bought a kia Vanga on the 60, nice car to be fair and I have had lots of interest in it this week. surprised how popular it was.

@grant8064 another crap day for declines, we had 4 on thursday all turned down, 1 yesterday and 2 today. Leads seem to have slowed down since Tuesday, most of the local dealer mob this end are telling me they are generally quiet.

Out of interest betginge...how are you finding subprime lenders acceptance rates at the moment?

I'm noticing a much higher percentage of declines over the last two months on sub prime and have found that applicant requirements around employment have changed a fair bit.

Best of luck with it by the way...personally I find it the hardest bit of the job. I hate stereotyping but I often find subprime clients are difficult to deal with, fail to understand that you're doing them a favour and have higher expectations than most other buyers of a used car despite their part ex's that they want all the money for being death traps!

Could not agree more. Its been a tough old week, We have had great response and lots of leads, to be honest I think most of the chancers with no hope credit have applied in droves. Been difficult sifting through the crap to find some customers to deal. Sub prime customers are pain but I knew this before we started.

I have sent over 20 props to  sub prime lenders and only 5 got accepted, 2 we dealt 1 bought elsewhere after we did the hard work getting them approved. 1 is  due in to deal tomorrow and the other lied about pay slip earnings on proof, was about 5 mins from dealing when it stalled by finance company. Now gotta wait 3 weeks before we can get him back in to deal when pay slips in order.

Got a few more leads to move on tomorrow so if we can get another couple of deals done this week I will be happy with the start.

I agree subprime has took dive in the last few months, some lenders have stopped lending, or not taking on new dealers, some are just not interested in doing business Cf247:mellow: . There is still deals to be had out there with some lenders and am sure more lenders will come along soon enough.

  15. There is a decent choice of sub prime lenders out there still, we have panel together now but we couldn't get on with some de to being a new business, as in its a new pitch with new limited company name. Even though I have been selling and had places for years it dont change anything to some.

You need a fca, you can use cf247 for referring customers without fca but to be honest you just will not retain the customer, as soon as they find out they have £5k to spend they will just start shopping around.

There is a particular method in running a sub prime pitch which has become a steep learning curve for us and we are just one week in.

Banger pitch on the over hand still going well, sold 2 focus 05 & 07 and leon this week.

  16. New subprime pitch opened this week, Been a real learning curve and took a few days to get things moving on the application front but the last 24 hours things have took off.

    Sold a 2011 citroen c1 today and took a c3 in chop

Also a 09 focus going out , customer due tomorrow to complete

kia carens 07 cdi on the way out also and tomorrow have an appointment for approved customer on a insignia or astra.

Manheim are the same - Bought a few Galaxys recently grade 4 online.

Literally needed 4 alloy refurbs and a very, very thorough wet vac on the interior.

How much you paying for your alloy furb @Rory RSC  be grateful for a contact as I am struggling to find a alloy man who aint some chancer who has started p with a combo van and flick can of silver ;)

  18. Just my opinion

£1200 for 9 cars on a pitch is eye watering  I know rents are expensive down south but jesus. I have a 40 car site with 3000 sqft building and do not pay that much.

If you selling cars up to 7k I would get a finance licence, Just does not make any sense why you would cut off all the customers who want to buy on finance.

9 cars is workable for one man paying the rent you will be paying but for two people to make a living from would be hard.
