You can't blame customers for wanting to by by CC if they have an interest free period offer.

you cant blame them but i aint paying for their interest free bit or  tesco clubcard points or whatever else points they get....max on credit card £500 and i think i am being generous at that..... turnover £1m on credit card would prob cost over £10k in card charges, and remember turn over £1m you may end up with 5 or 6% as profit so giving 1.5% in card charges just so billy can have clubcard points is bad business, no wonder ryanair charge to put your bags on plane... how much did they lose when they had to stop charging for credit cards....

I can honestly say I have never had any issues :)

You’ve never sold a Honda Jazz then ;—) But seriously we do get a lot of customers (usually over 60 yrs of age) who don’t trust/use internet banking, they are the type that would still want to give a cheque, I still gawp when I see a “youngster” in pub waving a phone near machine to pay for a glass of pop!!!!

  7. i have bought hundreds if not thousands of cars over the years off traders who have gone on to be my friends, I try the car before i buy and i point out any faults to them at time of sale in the hope i can chip them, traders i buy off know me and how i deal and i like to think i can spot a problem but i am a professional in the motor trade and if a fault occurs after or if i havent spotted it its tough shit because i know if i become a whinging bastard i wont buy many more off them,,,,, u win some you lose some

F***ing MX5s. I’ve never had one but any punter arriving in an MX5 to see a car has been an absolute cock - I always assumed VW built them under licence.

Had loads of them and they are great fun and have earned us good money over the years and apart from rusty bits are fairly bullet proof,, certainly more usable than an MGF or Lotus elise, but yes they are usually owned by cocks...

    What more can you do?

    HPi it?

    View it?

And get an invoice when purchased confining you've paid for the vehicle?.

Is there something I'm missing?. Am I doing it wrong?. Most my stock is privately sourced and I do the above!.no issues as of yet!

Not really, it’s a game of Russian roulette, but the OP said the V5 wasn’t in guys name, if it’s meant to be a private sale then walk away if this is the case, usually instinct is the best judge... if in doubt leave it out..... years ago guy came into our showroom with a lovely merc needed quick sale blah blah blah, hpi clear, 2 keys, full history, excellent stock mint car but something didn’t ring right so I left it and kicked myself  until watching news week later n it said Mr King been found murdered in his house body been there a few week etc.... same name as Merc V5, I rang a mate who was plod and asked if Mr King had a Merc.... hour later I am surrounded by plod asking for suspected murderers description.... they caught the guy and my plod mate said the new “owner” of the Merc was in tears as they took it off him and left him with a big bank loan and no car.....

I have dodged a few bullets in this job but that Is prob the luckiest escape..

It's all common sense. Locally we have the street dealers who sell cars from a petrol stations & car washes. If you buy from them you deserve everything you get. Just Last week and family bought a Toyota previa from these guys. Broke down 3 miles down the road! The lady was crying we spent our money what do we do!.

I bought many cars off of wanna be traders looking to earn a quick 150/200 & in return made a lot more profit than buying from auctions or even other PROFESSIONAL dealers.

For example I've had numerous wasted trips on dealer auction!. Yet they are professional dealers. I've even been to collect a car when my driver came running in the office saying the dealer is trying to take of an eml light & when I went outside to see for my self that's exactly what they were trying to do.

Take all the necessary steps when buy  a car. HPI it, check the MOT history, go look at the car? What more can you do!.

As for Facebook I never bought anything from there but sold a few.. I notice most look battered or either cat c/d stuff which I don't deal in.

Just get an invoice from them with name address & all should be fine & keep a copy of the advert if you incur any problems your covered!.

what i meant is how are you covered with an invoice and copy of ad??

How do you work that out??  That is the sort of thing a private would say when he is buying a “bargain” off a guy in pub instead  of paying a fair price off a professional motor dealer... same private gets knock on door 6 months later and police take car off him.... what good is a computer generated invoice with name of guy who is probably locked up now for ringing cars??  And copy of Advert? Really.... do you think Autotrader or  Facefuck are just full of legit cars???

No customer not seen car since 100 miles away, and elderly.

Since saying not fca, gone quiet!

They have always asked for FCA number on invoice on deals i have done with them, being elderly doesnt stop them getting chucky as long as they can show income and some of these ex govt employees on final salary pensions earn bloody fortunes,,, but if it goes through get them to come to you to collect car.

  13. Dealt with them a few times, Some times straightforward other times pain in arse,  you say deliver it then get electronic signature,, I wouldn’t be too excited about delivering it, It certainly wouldn’t leave my premises until funds in bank and by delivering do you mean punter hasn’t been to view car?? That’s another bag of worms.

  14. I really want FnF to work and be a genuine kick in the nuts for the likes of AT, CF247, Zuto etc but think they marketed it wrong trying to charge top dollar from the start, I cancelled after 4 months of selling nothing, I would happily pay for it via a reduction in commision on deals they supplied but FFS they need a name change... and a rejig of the search options for punters

I mention this again for the benefit of anyone who hasn't heard me pontificate regularly on this subject

    - that we STILL get people telling us they saw the car on Autoraper.  It's over two years now since we were last with the Highwaymen.

same here, going off what customers say when they are signing up for car 60% of my internet sales would be put down as AT but when i push them further and say its not been advertised on AT they usually pull there phone out with a pic of advert and its obviously from another site.
