Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking! Who knows what's lurking underneath. Cheaper than replacing the whole car floor! If they didn't look so drug-dealerish, they'd be a good solution.
-
No not at all!! They just popped up on Instagram.

https://www.diamondcarmats.com/ Good or naff? Can't make up my mind if they're good, or utterly awful. Reckon they'll be the new gunmetal alloys? Pimped out car mats?
-
Haha thanks Casper. I hope so too!

Tell him you'll sell elsewhere. From Cyprus he's likely a trader, and cars go for stupid money there. Make him run, don't sit on it.
-
Jason, what do you think I did? who needs money anyway? Gamble it away and kick yourself later. Called VW they said the mileage is all ok, and by the sounds of it it has good history but I have to go into the dealer to get it. No one else wanted it, only 1 Irish bidder on it. Worried sick, but at the price I got it, I can easily offload it and get my money back. If it's all good and straight, I'm quids in. This is what I'm hoping, tradex. I'll know 10am Monday. If not, the sea is a stone's throw away, I'll at least have had an expensive day out haha.

Oh....I'll ring them tomorrow. I was under the impression they didn't. Thank you!

Hi everyone. Looking at buying a 2014 Golf, with apparently only 20k on it. The car's reg works on AT, it works on the DVLA tax check site, but isn't recognised on the MOT history site. HPI has no mileage records either. The car's had a plate change in the past, but nothing on that either. Worried it's been clocked, and I don't think VW have a central database. It's 4.5 hours away from me at auction, and I won't be able to check it on time. Any ideas? Thanks

1 sold Monday, and deposit taken tonight on another. Out of a total of 5 up for sale. Could have sold the Fiesta too and broken even on it, but I let the customer's attitude get to me instead of thinking with my pocket. All I can do is say a prayer of thanks, and tread carefully and smart in August.

I feel you. We had a 318 coupe red leather, just the SE spec, but beautiful car. Had it for sale about 4 months I think and priced very well. Was about to go get the alloys done in gunmetal grey, when a lad rang, it was exactly what he was looking for. He was so made up. He said he wouldn't have wanted gunmetal alloys. The right buyer will come along, and it will be just the 1 sensible person who knows what they want. Unfortunately it's a waiting game with some cars.

Jesus, I need to go on a sales course. Why am I being schooled as if I've never sold a car before? WHY have I never thought of what you've just said??
-
Well I will definitely remember that next time. 3 bangers we had in as px sold quickly and well, and with a tidy profit. I find people with nicer cars, want near retail money for theirs.
-
Hmm...I got schooled again. I always assumed if people want to px they'd volunteer it? I don't know, maybe some people would rather sell privately. I've never denied someone a look, but on the flipside those who have "just looked" and those who haven't had the cash ready, has never come back.
-
Haha, exactly that! Or those who still have to sell theirs before buying another car, but want to have a look anyway. Why?!
-
Hi there. Why are you auctioning the car off? Why not put a classified at the original price? Have you tried AT? Even Cargurus. Saw your other post about the phone not ringing. It's frustrating when that happens. Have you tried a shuffle-around? Photos? Jiggle prices a little up or down?
-
Thank you all for the replies, you've honestly made me look at things differently. And apologies if I seem like a negative Nancy with this. You're all right though, especially about mindset, and about the M6 links which I had never thought of. As it stands, sold the L200 to Welshpool yesterday with not a penny off the asking price. @stockedup! we used to use AT in the past (PAYG), but then started using ebay and they were kind of balanced, and then cars were selling well off ebay, so we cut out AT altogether. But we're in slightly higher (car) price brackets now, so maybe it's time to look at AT again. @XFS you're right about the effort. I find most timewasters are those who live close by. Window shoppers/"Have another one to look at"/etc. No skin off their nose to pop 15 mins down the road. Whereas of course people coming from far away are almost guaranteed sales. Will absolutely work this to my advantage, as I'm only 7-10 mins from 3 different M6 Junctions. Thank you all again!

I guess general consensus is hit and miss? With my streak of fine purchases, I think I'd better stay away!
-
I'd never thought of it that way. I always think of the immediate surrounding areas. But you make a good point. How long you had it in XFS? Strange that, BMWs are always good sellers, but there's always a car that baffles you. You're right I suppose Mark. Just I guess being used to having the majority of customers from Gloucestershire, Worcestershire etc, it feels like I'll essentially be losing my customer base. But I'm acting like I'm moving to the other side of the country, instead of half an hour down the motorway.

What exactly is he doing? Get a priest in. Or else some holy water and sprinkle it around. If it sizzles when it hits the floor, you've just killed Casper.
-
Damn. Hopefully it is just that...those damn gearboxes don't come cheap.
-
We bought and sold a few older VW/Audis with DSG boxes in the past, but they all needed repairs. The last of which was a 2007. Are the newer boxes reliable? Or still problematic? Should we venture back into VW/Audi autos?
-
Haha, well done! I sold one to South Africa once, Grand Vitara as his over there had broken down.
-
To NI?! Wow that's quite a distance! That's testament to you and your cars if people travel that far. Most we've had is 3 hours. Currently we have an L200, a 1 series, a C Class and a Civic. £5k-8k. They're all popular cars I think, but...2 weeks and I'm getting anxious.

We're home-based. Possibly soon to part ways, and my business partner's area is surrounded by more affluent areas. I'd be dealing from my house at least initially, and it puts me in the Midlands/Black Country, which isn't so great for sales I think. But maybe if I work harder online, with videos etc, I can close the gap. Thanks for the gumtree tip, I'll check it out.

Hi NITM. EBay mostly, cars are on FB Marketplace too, sold a few that way. They're on Car Gurus too, but most are sold through eBay. Very very rarely advertise on AutoTrader.
