If someone's quoting you 10k though, I'll buy it off you 10k down lol
-
Do you mean where do you stand with BMW? Since it's full BMW history, I don't know if they'll offer a repair or contribution as a goodwill gesture, however, the car is out of warranty and I doubt you'll get anything out of them. Whoever quoted you £1.6k-10k is out to take you for a ride. Where are you based?
-
They've changed the PAYG dealer portal. In the past you could add upgrades and it would tally up how many ££ worth of upgrades the car had. That's gone now and it's basically like the private side of AutoTrader. Not sure what the point or logic is.
-
This is what I meant.
-
I can't do much because I'm PAYG, but it's interesting to see there's a workaround. Shame it's in the public forum though.

Nice one, Nick!
-
Nick all have markers apart from the Mini, E Class, 330d, C180, Focus and TT.
-
Nick I'm on an android. No marker on the Mini
-
Of course. But you'd think some would stick around.

My favourite part of the thread was the pizza talk. And the fact that OP has disappeared. Why do they do that??
-
There's always something! That's another very fitting name for them. Petrol especially are a nightmare. If it's not the chain, they're full of other gremlins. Still...nice sellers though lol.
-
That's the best name I've ever heard for them. So much as sneeze near them and the engine goes. Bought a beautiful MK6 GT TDI a couple of years ago. Water damage to the engine, simple engine flush and it was good to go. Wish BMs were that sturdy.
-
Thanks Tradex. I don't know how they finished it. Pretty gutted though. Will try that and see, otherwise it's another £70 lol. Hey ho.

Got a 120d with Ferric Grey alloys. Had them refurbished (SMART repair) 24 hours later used Autoglym Magma and it's left white spots on them, that almost feel raised. Any ideas? I've used Magma before even on refurbished diamond cut alloys and never had any problems.

Who's Dopey...?

Grant, I wasn't going to buy it! This was literally just an enquiry, I spent 5 minutes on this, and then the rest of the time I've been explaining that I'm not planning to buy it. I saw a 20k car, thought "that's odd that it's a Cat B with so little damage. Hmm..I wonder Cat Bs can be overturned?" Posted in here, and everything thinks I'm spending time on this car, or that I'm stupid enough to buy it, or that I'm calling Aviva or something to look into it. Please people, give me some credit that I'm not a complete and utter moron.
-
I find it odd when cars that are smashed beyond comprehension and of lesser value are either Cat N or S, and a £20k car with a water damaged engine and a bone dry interior, is a Cat B. It is simply nothing I have come across before. Is your point 2 is what exactly? That I've bought and repaired cars with a water damaged engine? Are non runners immoral purchases?
-
What exactly do you mean? If I had licence what would be frightening about buying a Cat B car to break? Where exactly is the issue in someone doing exactly what they are licensed to do? I DIDN'T say if I had a licence, I would buy a Cat B car and try and put it on the road. I DIDN'T say I would buy a Cat B car without a waste licence and fumble my way to try and get it on the road. I barely even looked at the damn thing. I was just enquiring whether anyone knew if categories could be overturned, since j found it odd that a £20k car with barely a scratch on it, would be written off as a Cat B. I don't know where you get frightening from that, and what exactly you are implying.
-
Was that an intentional pun? Ok now I understand. We've bought a lot of flood damaged cars were the engine has locked up, but never any other issues. In this one the engine runs (I don't know how well) and no other lights on the dash. But down the line maybe things start packing up, as you say. To be clear, I'm not going to buy it. I can't anyway as I don't have the licence. I was just wondering if going through certain channels could change the category. Clearly not.
-
Justin, I wouldn't buy it as it is. Was just wondering if it's reversible. As it stands, I've sent it to our BMW guy maybe he can make money off it breaking it.
-
Ooooh....I hadn't even thought of that.
-
Sparky, what about the COD? Unless they do fake ones out there. Haha, TV there goes my bright idea then. What a shame though. I'm not being a know it all, but I'd love to meet the muppet who wrote this off. There are Category Ns smashed to within an inch of their lives. And this is a Cat B...poor car.
-
Mikey, that's exactly it. But the car is near mint, it's classed as Run and Drive. Clocks are at 1000 revs and EML is on. I'm baffled as to why it's a Cat B. Should be Cat N at worst.
-
Good morning guys. Looking at a car, 2018 BMW, not a mark on it. Flood damaged but the engine runs. It's been written off in September as a Cat B...? The car's worth £20k all day long, who the hell wrote it off for a £2k rebuild? Even if the gearbox has gone it's what...£5k? Maximum. Has anyone had any experience in this in contacting the insurer to get it overturned? To be clear, this is going through auction, it's not my car.

One day when I actually own a car of my own, I will bring it to you to do all that to it. You sound so passionate, and the "no hologram" got me. I hate holograms with a passion. People who truly love what they do and are good at it, gets my rocks off lol
