Modified Cars...what would you do !!!
Chris@Glass replied to Gavin@Rousdon's topic in General Dealer Chat
Plus if you can sell it as is, the BMW OEM wheels will sell for a few quid more than the max power parts. Especially as they may quite likely have premium (ish) tires rather than the "Stunners" (what I call generic cr*p tires) that most aftermarket alloys are wrapped in. -
Annoyed I have only just seen this thread Umesh. One thing to bare in mind is that the LIVE Retail values are region and local market specific. Its not going to drive a huge difference, but its still apparent. What is also in play is the large level of discounting. About 10% of retail on average based on those examples and what, close to 60-70% of likely margin aspiration? Those are some big numbers. Take into account 90+ days of advertising cost, depreciation etc, to me it looks like the discounting is too high, and too late. I am glad to read you are using the "Sold" tab on Radar, and not just relying on Asking prices in the market. Did you get to agree a deal at all? Chris

What homemade modifications have you seen?
Chris@Glass replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
I just saw a video on DIY tire re treading in Poland. Scary stuff -
Wheeler - I am sure you can make some videos "unsearchable" therefore you need to know the link to play them as such. Chris

Happy to discuss this in more detail Mr Green. PM me and we can talk. Back to the forum thread. Gavin - there is lots a great kit available now for video file transfer on mobile devices to upload vehicle appraisals online. The only downside I can see is data usage on a handset. Some guys are uploading 5-6 min long videos

Interesting to hear that the "bidding" sites are being favored in these comments more so than the "trade only classifieds". At Glass's we wanted to add more value to our online valuation platforms, so we introduced a FOC trading platform to Glass's subscribers. Its very much a email out your stock type system to a list of "interested buyers" but we compliment the advert with Glass's Trade valuations and our LIVE Retail value from Radar. This then gives the potential buyer a view of the retail market for their territory. Its early days still, but plenty of regular activity. Speed of sale on these platforms I see as King. Browsing lists of adverts will mostly result in old stock or stock that's already moved on. We wanted to create instant alerts, hence Trade Alerts. Agree with James here, very insightful and powerful to know.

Important European directive - what are your views?
Chris@Glass replied to a topic in General Dealer Chat
I am with Green Giant on this one. Specific vehicle common faults that you really need to look out for but can cost a lot to fix. Does this mean the consumer can buy a used car that they know has a fault/issue and then the very next day get the dealer to rectify it? I am thinking of the amount of E46 M3 cracked rear subframes that go unknown for many drivers and traders. Used cars are specifically that, listing every niggle and issue will surely impact leads, speed of sale and profitability - is thats what is needed to protect the seller? "Mechaniclaly its a great car sir, but the CD player skips, the boot popper on the key remote doesnt work (they never do) and the one touch cup holder is a jammed......" -
RE: New European directive gives customers more rights
Chris@Glass replied to umesh's topic in General Dealer Chat
I am not a car trader myself, however if word gets out as Umesh says, surely its open to abuse by the "knowledeable" car buyer. -
I recall buying "cheaper" VW Passat parts for my A4 Avant and always being asked for a VIN or Reg Number at the VW parts desk. I'm sure the Matser Tech here took one look "under the hood" and raided the parts bin. Great story.

RE: Motorpoint unveils new range of savings on plug-in cars
Chris@Glass replied to mail4gary's topic in General Dealer Chat
Only recently joined the forum. I saw Gary's comments so took a look for myself. http://www.motors.co.uk/car-35284876 According to GalssNet Radar Live Retail pricing. Its been at that price (£18,799) since May 25th. Motorpoint look to have moved on 3 in June also, all at sub £20k and with no need to revise prices.
