You never hear about Mk2 TT 2.0 TFSI having this?

I think its just a bad engine you hear a lot of traders commenting on them at the time the guy i was buying for the garage he owned wouldn't touch at auctions due to problems seen a few nice ones and would he would only reluctantly take them in px if cheap enough probably where the tt came from had about 70 k on it at the time so maybe had past work .. i guess he just meant that particular example was fine he did well with audis for years mostly diesel at the time .  Ive never personally sold a 2.0 tfsi audi due to bad press and him putting me off and now this thread too

I used to buy Astonish upholstery spray from the 99p shop for the car seats. It was actually very good.

Some of there stuff is really good i use it on old pxs for a quick spruce up or family cars or my daily driver and mix and match on the newer stuff with autoglym autosmart and a few others nielsen etc did a valet for a neighbour the other on a 12 year old car he was impressed with the way it came up i owed him a favour for some work he did for me and wouldn't take payment

No I don't mean you're repeating a thread. God knows I've repeated enough threads.

I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Not far above basics to be honest. No doubt in the morning everyone will chime in.

Thanks .  And of course your opinion helps and as you said earlier will always take advice

I don't think you can ever know to much or not enough I've been in the trade since 1999 through different aspects did some property/ land planning to  was chatting to old guy at the auction the other week who has did it 50 years and still keeps his hand in . Every day is school a school day and i still make school boy errors sometimes ..so guess in comparison to him I'm not far above the basics either lol

strangely i only found the forum a few months ago though I've read the mag before my old boss subscribed to it   .

Pretty sure there was a thread about this before. We don't do anything yet, although it would be a nice touch.

I think i read it but though it was more to do with changing plates though i could be wrong wouldn't be the first time  sorry for the repeated thread if not ..

my next question was going to be any thoughts on suppliers of branded promotional items

  5. How far do you guys and girls go with branding cars

i use some key-rings a printed loop-fobs on one key and a printed plastic key ring on the other and used to used tax disc holders

and change number plates to branded ones when required on newer stuff

  6. Do you guys and girls use hanging air fresheners or use it in spray form I tend to use the fruity ones from home bargains or autoglym autosmart ones have used nielsen chemicals ones in the past the best ones i found were the jelly belly ones but those are expensive per unit

also thought about some personalised ones

  7. One of the guys I bought for wouldn't touch them and bought a lot of Audis just said they had poor engines tfsi though at one stage he bought and sold an early tt and he said it was fine not sure of the source it was one of his purchases at the time there was 3 of us 2 directors me as self employed buyer and 2 managers and various staff at the garages he owned

  8. Remember a back street painter years ago always had a gb badge for runs in tailgates he also told me before my time the vinyl roof was his friend back in the day .

Can always go back and tell them you've only just noticed and would like it sorting see what they say or you could use someone else to repair don't really see or cant think what other options you have you probably should have checked it but no point crying over spilt milk as my old great auntie used to say

couldn't really sell like that as it probably looks worst than it is from a customer point of view .

Have you seen that scene in the Three Amigos where they're in the desert, and two of them are dying of thirst, and Chevy Chase just glugs down water, spilling it everywhere while the others look on in thirsty disbelief?

That's how I feel right now reading that haha. That's good news though!

:D:) I like how you put it I guess we all have our good and bad times at this game and up and downs but were still here doing it so we must be doing something right .i guess you will be busy when others are quiet  and vice versa

Not that I have ever understood them like cars- but any van in PX seems to have done well over the years for me.

No-doubt if I had a site full of them, they wouldn't prove so popular.  (I wonder if van sellers sell the odd car well on the site when it comes in px.  'Cheapest car on the pitch scenario is another one.)

Ive a friend who mostly does vans but sells the odd car cheap pxs etc he stared off with cars but says van customers are a lot less fussy funny thing is another 2 van dealers I was talking to one at his own pitch and one at mainheim said mostly the same thing

Even if I wanted it, how would I price it up? As I understand, it's a Transit Custom DIY turned into a camper?

So do I find prices off panel vans and add £ some on?

No sure really and might be wrong here never really been involved.too much with campers more cars and vans. Though I helped a neighbour add extras to his factory camper . Though to try and help and give my advice ill give you my thoughts I  guess what  you could do it your price the basic van on Autotrader price up what it would cost to buy the parts to spec it out and then ad a bit on for the the work . Also have a look on eBay and gumtree etc there a few on there at minute I had a look earlier .. some nice stuff

Use some double sided tape from Home Bargains comes in a pack of 2 rolls for a £1

Dont think cheap is tat... Its very strong and you can use plenty and plates never come off.

Some excellent cheap mats at Home Bargains too for a fiver

Tango just when you said don't think cheap is tat it got me thinking to how many identical products not always motor trade related that I've seen in home bargains poundland etc only to see them at twice the price in supermarkets online etc

i buy all the chrome surround number plate covers they have in stock

these always lift up a dull eurobox

    Good idea .

  13. I'm sure as Mark said the plate can be transferred and the 1997 car will be issued with a P or R registration which ever is appropriate  thats never been issued on a non transferable basis one of my previous bosses registered his Mercedes straight from brand new to his valuable private plate then bought a new Mercedes passed the previous Mercedes  to his ex wife who was still part of the company with a newly issued age related date appropriate plate back around 1999-2000 which said on the v5  notes non transferable registration

  14. I agree with JA although we know a 100k isn't a lot on a modern car or van it will put a lot of buyers off

I also agree with you TG about your money in the two cars you know what to buy and your market in your area etc my advice would be to politely offer a low ball px on the van at a price you can afford to sit on it. remind the customer that camper vans are not really your market and you may have to sit on it for a while and its probably worth more private or on eBay etc

Good luck whatever the outcome :):):)

Anyone that refers to it as "money on top" ain't a proper buyer.

    Wanna buy a dag?

Remember advertising an old px escort on gumtree years ago had it advertised with company name as contact etc and had a guy phone up and ask if we would take a three piece suite in px

Thanks for the reply and advice funny you should mention Home bargains . Sometimes I pick up there cleaning products to mix in  with the more expensive stuff in my valeting box and buy the little hanging air fresheners from there too there only 0.29 each and the fruity smelling isnt to overpowering like some of the more expensive ones I've used will pick up some tape and a set or 2 of mats next time im in never go wrong to have about the place all the best

Well he's asking to px on a £8700 car, with "a little money on top". I don't know what these are worth, but if it's going to tie up £7000 of capital, I'm a bit nervous.

Whats the year colour mileage etc a company i buy cars for sometimes has started to stock a few and they always seem to sell and do well

  18. Use a couple of local garages for mots and in depth repairs etc and use two mobile mechanics for servicing and repairing basic stuff

I don't mind doing some little jobs on my own maybe discs and pads  an oil change or a valet

But mostly these days I prefer to stick to the buying and selling

been doing a lot of buying lately as an agent sourcing vehicles for a couple of independent car and van dealers from bca and manheim
