  1. Good luck You can fill it in as a sole trader I would says long as you have a trade policy your ok get yourself a rubber stamp and stamp name address part and sign the yellow slip there's lot of people involved in the trade that are not a Ltd company as well as part time traders etc
  2. I've seen that too sometimes it takes a bit of time to update after a plate transfer not ages but maybe a week or so also the tax one always seem to update first . also sometime it happens if the car is an import
  3. I think that was the issue that it maybe didn't extend extend to Sdp unsure if he had and never heard the eventually outcome,in the end just remember them saying at the time like you though it did confuse me at the time .maybe he hadn't placed it on mid or something your guess is as good mine . I think you can get insurance that's motor trade only road risk etc minnus sdp.someone correct me if I'm wrong ? ive did it before to taxed it whilst in the trade used to do it regular back in the disc days if I was using something for 8 weeks or so
  4. Thanks Blenheim Yes I understand that and was going to say I don't know the tax implications as a ltd company and as you say its becomes a company car I've been a self employed sole trader and auction buyer for some car sales people unsure if JA is LTD or not I actually know a guy got a tug for using his own car registered to him to go to a family wedding on his trade policy don't know what the outcome was just remember his business partner chatting about it at the time .
  5. If It doesn't effect the value much by putting in your personal or company name ie making a 1 owner car a two owner etc then sometimes i think it best too . I had a golf once and put in under the company name I owned the guy tht bought it said it reassured him it was a good the fact that it had been owned by the company previous . As if it was good enough for my personal transport then it was for his . tradex the polices I've had or seen normally mention on the policy certificate something like covers such and such for trade use extending to social domestic and pleasure use but it normally states vehicle owned by them or the company for personal use so unsure how it would work if its notified as in the trade although even though you still technically own it the boys in blue might not see it like that .and say it should in fact be registered to owner or company ie joe bloggs or bloggs car sales and the trade part covers customer cars road testing test drives collecting cars etc . I remember working for a guy years ago and wouldn't have liked to have seen his renewal his said any employee friend relative or acquaintance was cover for trade or personal use this was in the late 90s though i think its a lot different now
  6. Thats it .it was on the road for years afterwards was a great little car .. be ok if we could all find a couple of them like that a week .
  7. Do any of you ever sell cars word of mouth due to your good reputations you all have. some of the independents I did work for used to get it back and forward..obv not as a regular thing but I've heard a lot like my auntie bought a car from you . Like umesh with his bulb story Some of the repeat customers are in there 4 or 5 th car from there now .
  8. I remember advertising an old polo saloon years ago the car was 12 years old at the time but i found out later it was one lady owner since about 2 years it only had had something like 46k miles at the time the lady only did about 16k with it did its first 30k was with the previous company owner for 2 years. polished up nice new set of plates new wheel trims . Minimal mot work for a test a mini service . Full valet machine polish shampoo seats etc And the lady even sent me the fsh and touch up pen . at first I advertised it on the local free ads paper think as trade I was paying £10 at the time never got a call in weeks put it on autotrader as trade think it cost £36 pound at the time phone never stopped for it although the eventually buyer said he seen it in the free ads paper .
  9. The current margins up here with most dealers seem to be happy with 1k-1500k per car obv the odd one maybe do between 2k-3k on some cars . But the majority of the guys I know and associate with are happy with that on the old px it's probably a £500-600 mark up as you all say 4 £995 cars a week week happy they sell too with people looking for cheaper transport . TG I thought you were learning for the best on here lot of guys and girls with a lot more knowledge here than us I Guess. Remember in the car trade every days a school a day . the cost to change thing has been a well known one for years across main dealers and training manuals etc and is one of the most important factors .
  10. We joke the h beam in the hall must be a billionaire the amount of cars it buys .
  11. Always fancied building one. My mate had a 54 plate one and sold it wish I bought that .
  12. I know the feeling Mark . My ten year old ones were fit up till last 2 days the 18 month one had a good 18 month with me which I take as some comfort .he was so so young though just a pup really bought him from a proper enviroment and and that too same source as the other two actually a farmer friend . Seen him was his mum and dad playing he actually gripped my trousers to play which made me choose him . The young collie kept looking at me I just broke down with him in my arms I'm not ashamed to admit . Never again my dad and sister took the older 2 at time dad was much healthier then as you say it's heartbreaking .keep telling yourself she had a good 12 .5 years I couldn't do that with him only been 18 months .
  13. It's take times I've known the wee jack Russell since he was a pup great wee thing he abouts 7 now in a few months you won't ever want to part with the springer . strange thing was the two 10 year old collies had been together all there days apart from 4 weeks when I decided I would take both cause one was the runt of the litter and had been turned down a few times he actually turned out bigger and had slighty more muscle than his brother who was fed the same .they both took not well 2 days apart and went on to the vet on the same day to leave this world . sorry for your loss with your German shepherd . It so sad when then go honest that day at the vets with my younger collie is the worst I've ever been came home had chest pains cold sweats etc I thought I was going with him been to a close friend funerals etc and. Never shed a tear although I did. When I went to hospital due to said friends unexpected death . He was a sort of 2nd father to me he liked a drink and used to get him to come to auctions pick up parts etc with me to keep him off it
  14. Thinking of you and Mel .Dave and also family I really mean that my deepest sympathies and heart felt sorrys go out to you . I had 2 collies for 10 years brothers from the same litter before having to put them to sleep due do athritis hip displacement which was controlled by med but a large abscess developed and it was the kind thing to do his brother had epilepsy and started to take fits as he got older he had 1 large one and the pills they put him on changed him I was heartbroken but they had no quality of life . Told myself they had a good happy 10 years which helped me through I decided to get another collie pup to get over it and he had been born with a brain tumour and lossed him to at 18 months vet set they didn't advice putting him through operations that may or may not work I was actually on the vet floor on my hands and knees holding on to him in tears crying like a baby that day as you say he was so young . Loved that dog so much still miss him nearly 2 years later .would ha e spent my last penny to save him if I could have might sound silly and daft to some but it's true . The girl from the vets actually sent me card and phoned to see if I was ok People don't get it when you say its like losing a family member I sure as hell do we actually paid for creamatiions etc .. My friends passed and I ended up with his little jack Russell who took my dad which helped as my dad not in full fitness now . So go there most days sometimes stay over etc still
  15. Thanks mike for your input and reply

  18. Halfords must make a fortune from the public . Ive a trade card some off there stuff becomes reasonable . They do a price match so just phone the factors when your there who do you use for the machine David if you don't mind me asking ?

  20. Get yourself down to costa David
  21. Like you say Met it's a good idea .Have done in the past with ex motabilty cars Infact I know of one guy and that was his business he had a contact and bought the ruff ones in bulk and got them perfect then sold them on . I remember going to the local garage with my dad years ago late 80s as a lad the guy was making good money from salvage he had a contract with a few insurance companies at the times he actually did ok Into the 90s up to 2006 before he retired and sold the garage but that was doing unrecorded ex hertz stuff etc . In 2006 he did a mondeo Zetec 3 months old at time 06 plate 3.5 k miles in black turned out a nice car but was cat d he sold that very cheap eventually and was good repair his brother was a great painter panel beater ( he used to fit odd number plates really annoyed my ocd lol ) I considered buying it as my daily driver at one point . In comparison he had a basic black mondeo same age and 7k miles he fitted zetec alloys of a break only which sold no problems for about 2.5 k more .
  22. my trousers and jeans come from Asda or Tesco Normally go for black or course good old primark I bought a few sort of nice wool jumpers last time I was in Tesco in grey and black good for the winters and snow here . actually very smart do you buy your polo shirts online Mark . thanks again .
