  1. How to buy a franchise? I never know I could buy a franchise. Please tell me more. Thanks. ..........I sold none. That is embarrassing! Ltd Company
  2. Thank you Mark. Yes, I feel a little bit of relief now when I think of working indoor and only 3 miles from home. I tried to offer 3 months deposit. But, with no any business references, so the landlord just need 6 months. I think I can't find any other less than that.
  3. Dear mates, Things are not going what I wanted. The roadside pitch process failed. Because that is a sublease and the lease is 10 years, and 1-year deposit required! Okay, then I just called the unit agent, and finally reached an agreement this morning to take the 3,600 sqft unit for 6-year lease whit 3 years break clause, 6 months deposit. Hopefully this time work! Not too bad! At least no more long-distance travel to work needed.
  4. Yes, thank you David, that is exactly what I am talking about.
  5. My AT package will active tomorrow. So, I am trying my luck. I hope I could do as good as you without AT. But I just 60+ years away from your successful position.
  6. Thank you mate. I totally agree with you. Don't worry, nobody can compare with AT. We absolutely need AT. We have not many choices. Yes, everybody knows that. Take it easy. I love AT by the way. Even I just try one pay as you go for 21 days and got no call. That was my fault I know. So, I just bought a new package to learn more. Logically said, it's possible to have a free listing + some charge feature listing platform and can attract some buyer to use it if the supply and the interface are good enough. But it's really tough in realistic. This problem is like saying egg and chicken. Is it the egg exist before chicken? Or the chicken exist before the egg? Are we the egg or the chicken? Why? Just a thought.
  7. So many end users. I saw so many end users in the BCA Blackbushe when I walk through the parking log to check the cars before it goes on the hall. Some families, mom with baby, couples, and father with son. I feel I am in the supermarket.
  8. Yes. AT no doubt is the best platform since they have the most visitors. It's more than all the other platforms altogether. By the way, I just called them today and get my very first package for 5 cars at £46x/month + Vat. Hopefully will get some calls.
  9. No worries. There are only about 2% used cars in the market. Because at the end of September 2018, there were 38.4 million vehicles licensed for use on the roads in Great Britain, of which 31.6 million were cars. In the year to September 2018, the stock of licensed vehicles increased by 1 per cent compared to the previous year.
  10. David, Thank you. The topic was asking for an alternative here. So I just provide an option idea for some. Not a thing that I could do to take on AT. I am not saying I will/can/going to do that. Maybe someone or some group can do that. There are actually have nothing to do with me. Again, talking this idea here has nothing to do with my car sale. Sell the car and think about the ad platform is not the same category. It just different jobs. Below is from wikipedia.org about the founders of AT. They never sold any cars. They are not even a trader but rule the traders' industry in the UK. So, they never walk before they try to jog (even rape) on all of us. Sorry Sir, just want to make some fun! Sir John Robert Madejski, OBE, DL (/məˈdeɪski/; born Robert John Hurst; 28 April 1941) is an English businessman, with commercial interests spanning property, broadcast media, hotels, restaurants, publishing and football. He changed his name when his stepfather, a Polish airman during World War II, returned to Britain to marry his mother. Paul Gibbons (born 4 May 1947 in Reading) is an English businessman, who co-owns Leaderboard Golf Ltd with his wife Jennifer. Gibbons co-founded the magazine Auto Trader and its parent company Hurst Publishing alongside John Madejski. He has appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List in recent years. A happy new year and all the best wishes for all of you guys.
  11. Don't worry about that. More listing is better for attract the buyer come to the platform. Private sellers need to pay for the listing. Only traders are free. Furthermore, the technology can help us to identify the buyer, so maybe we could set up a function to match the cars to the buyer by gender or age, or etc. The buyer actually knows better what they want than we do. So, the platform trying to maximise the chance for a sold by anyway.
  12. Take it easy mate. It won't have 3 million cars listing on it. AT has only 504K cars listing. And I think this could be very close to the total amount of stocks in the market because most of the stocks already listed on it no matter big traders or door steppers. So, you will be found when the buyer using a filter to narrow their choices. Furthermore, if pay makes better, then we could also set up some pay feature listing to who want to pay like you. So you can standout by pay for it. Just a thought to answer your question. No mate. But my personal suggestion for friends is that eat healthily, do exercise, and sleep early. Just try your best to a minimum need of NHS service as little as possible.
  13. That is not about me. Not about what I come up. Nothing to do with Richard Branson. Not only about my business. But about all of us. It's just a thought related to the topic. I am not saying I will or can do it. Anyone who has the ability should/may do it. I just provided an open mind idea. This idea is free for the public, you can use it, too. Thanks.
  14. Sell the car and build an ad platform is a different job! Is the founder of AT sold any cars before he starts AT? He sole nothing in all time, and he is not even a trader I think. Furthermore, I am not going to do it myself. I just come up with the idea to solve a problem.
  15. So, that could be an open source project for everyone. Not for profit. Just to solve the problem we are facing. And make a little fun. Free listing, no charge for traders. Everything will be opened, even the source code will be opened for the public to help us debug and improve. What do you think?
  16. Why buyer go to AT website? Because all of us are there. People visit AT just because we are there. Not because they like or trust AT. No! They actually have nothing to do with AT. So, we and our stocks are the only things the buyer interested in. We can put these all together on the new platform, it will work.
  17. The key is that it needs a lot of us to join together. Why not have a try? We just feel tire every ad site charging crazy money. So, if a free platform can even generate a little traffic to our website will be worth to try. Nothing to lose. This is a fun project for all of us to do together.
  18. To back to the topic. I just come up an idea. How about we build a new platform together to advertise our stocks together? My thought is forever free for all the traders. But charge private sellers. I think we could make it list on the first page on Google search result after some time. That won't need big money to make it happen. So, It will get some traffic over time. But to make it works, the most important thing: we need a lot of you to join. I am not joking. We can do that together. It could be a good fun project. The function and target are simple: let the buyers find us on any search result related to car sale. The platform will be linked to every traders' website, and link to your every product page on your website. What do you think?
  19. The Autotrader turnover last year is £324.3 million. Profit is £220.4 million. What an evil monster!
  20. Yes. Is impossible to please everyone. Here is a real story. Previously, I had a little car accident with a young man just on the day right after I purchased my motor trade insurance. I was too worried to go through insurance, so I accepted to pay him £250 after a few text communication with him. Even though that was most likely could be his fault. But I just don't want to have any insurance claim record by that. Then, when I was about to pay him online, he said that he brought his car to his "insurance trusted garage" to have a look, and the garage quote was £1,200 to replace the whole bumper. What? A small scratch on a bumper need to be replaced? By the way, his cars is a manual 2006 Vauxhall Astra has 130,000+ miles on it. I see the retail price on the market is about 900-1,100 only! I said I can hire a local body shop to fix it for him. He insisted I must do it at that " £1,200 insurance trusted garage". Then I told him about £1,000 can buy another same car, there is no point to pay for that crazy £1,200 to replace a bumper. I also said I can buy his car and pay him that £1,200, so he can absolutely buy a newer one with lower mileage by using that £1,200. Or, I could get one better for him just to replace his car. He was very angry after I said that, and shouted at me, said: It's not for sales! I spent almost three months searching online to find this car! I collected it from 230 miles away. I paid £1,500 for it at that time. It's one owner from new! Not for sales! We will go to insurance! Anyway, I spent two days to convince him to accept a £360 cash by having a local 24 years in business body shop quote me a £360 estimation and sent it to him. He eventually accepted. Something I learned from this little accident is that: some people really difficult to deal with! Everybody is different!
  21. As a consumer, I didn't know AT before I come to this forum. I bought cars before. I just search on Google Map to find out the dealers nearby, then get there to see the cars. This is just my case. As a buyer, I don't like looking at hundreds of ads online. I having difficulty to read that much, and I don't really trust the photos and description of the ads. I like physical viewing and convenience more.
  22. Yes, very basic mistake. Will do better next time.
  23. I bought a light blue Jaguar XF with no log book present from BCA. So, I spent £25 to apply a new one. Got the log book and found the keeper as my company name. That means one more keeper added to the records. The interesting thing is that I found the previous log book in the car today just right in the hand box covered by the user manual. I called DVLA, and they said they can delete the new logbook record if I post them the previous one and with a letter to declare the situation. What a surprise! A happy day.
