2 x broken vw polos please help
Blenheim Car Sales replied to Barclaywoodmotorco's topic in General Dealer Chat
Those DSG gearboxes are a real pain and its usually the Megatronic part of the gearbox that calls it a day, Probsbly the gearbox internals are going to be serviceable but the software that runs the kit is at fault most likely, Its a virgin unit you are after rather than a cheap second hand unit, The VW diag will id the problem, Its a known Problem on DSG and usually stems from missing the gear box service as that`s £280 -
Yes some days you are the statue, Some days you are the Pigeon Some days your the windscreen, Some days you are the fly I am about to pay largest VAT bill i ever had in 5 yrs of trading so cant moan but October so far is off a cliff

I think the minimum level of commitment and hours to be worked are greatly underestimated by anyone outside of the trade in order to make any sort of a profit, Your learning curve would be vertical and i personally could not see me ( even with your expertise) running a successful Electrical company along side what i do, its just impossible you dont have that spare capacity to do both

Movex i use when busy, Obviously they are rated by users so you can spot something you dont like, I personally have used them 5-6 times last 2 months and found them to be really efficient and as its a tender style of quoting there prices are impressive some of the time. 300+ miles Kinross to Wolverhampton £140 inc VAT and fuel

This deal happened today, All funds in bank and i have no risk any more, He came to my place though from Cyprus today to view and pay for the car prior to arranging his shipping agent in Southampton, Question though My Customer in Cyprus needs the English V5 in Cyprus when the boat docs his end at the end of the month, He needs this to clear customs his end and also prove the Vehicle ID and to prove he has imported it, Can i just send of the Log book to DVLA without putting any tax on it ???, He is using His name but his brothers UK address on the V5, He has an arrangement with brother to send on to him in Cyprus, Car is currently "in trade|" secondly, having never exported a car there is a part of the V5 that has a tear off for "Notification of permanent export" do i have to send it on this V5 or wait till the new V5 comes through ?? as i am guessing they will have different doc ref numbers

I am almost exclusively German, But must have had brain fade when i bid on a Citroen C5 Exclusive 300 miles away from me, In white 2011 and 118k, 4 door it was too, Had it less than 5 weeks and made £1400 from it, Was impulse purchase (very unlike my methodical way of using online auctions) just looked remarkable value

Guess thats why you start with an £8000 margin on a Bentley so that after prep and a 90 day stock turn you only end up loosing about £2000 -

Guy calls me from Cyprus, Says he wants to buy my car ( Citroen C5 tdi) says it to be exported and he will pay me a deposit can i have your IBAN number, We do everything through e-mail and a 5 min call from Cyprus land line, He does indeed pay me the 10% deposit on Iban bank transfer, Obviously i am not releasing the car until full funds are received, Am i missing something ?? do i have any extra risks that i am not thinking of or am i overthinking my position ??

I am usually at some distance from the car i am looking at wanting to see it start, Did it struggle was it healthy, Cars are started 30-40 seconds before they start moving, its your slim chance to be in the car and check the things you need to before the auction guy gets in to bring it to hall, catch the auction guys attention and bit very conservatively so no one knows

Sold does not always mean sold.......
Blenheim Car Sales replied to Mistermuttley's topic in General Dealer Chat
Agreed, It is just a guide and i also have had great success in "overpricing" against the AT marketplace, If you have something special rare niche or it has something to separate it from the pack then of course you need to price it apart from the rest, know your cars and your marketplace i think is what i am saying -

Back in the 80`s i agree chose your margin and place it on sale customer only had a newspaper to compare vehicles and prices I think the Autotrader now decides your retail price, You margin is actually then pre determined by the hammer price less all them costs you mentioned, I always work out what i need to buy it for as i know what they sell for and i know what my costs are, Only sensible way of making money really -

Got to aim for £1000 net after all costs have come out, Does not always work out that way but risk reward balance means close to a £1000 you have a chance at ending the year up rather than down -

Think whats key to this is what this EML light is showing as a fault, if its a different fault to the original then its not grounds to reject as there are many reasons why the EML could be on, If its same issue as before then you have less grounds, If it was me i would be wanting it back to inspect this fault, I keep diag machine for this very reason, Warning lights come on all cars for all reasons, It happen its part have having a modern car with all them sensors -
we all know if they are nightmare before they buy it they are two times as bad after they have purchased it, First customer would have lived with you picking faults after he had take it home You dodged a bullet with that original customer
