  1. Cheers im definitely looking to avoid this end of the market not becuase im a snob but its bloody grim need to find a good contact that will buy the sub £500 stuff so i can just flip it within a day and concentrate on core stock
  2. Good point i will put some feelers out as id rather just trade them on sometimes my suppliers insist i take a few crappers along with the good stuff which is fair enough. Just dont really want to sell them on myself and worry about come backs
  3. Good point mate plus a nice farm and nice surroundings can actually be quite appealing
  4. Thanks yes on the case now with warts n all ebay ads how do these work with avoiding people returning a £300 skoda in 2 months saying its a sh!t heap when you basically sold it as that
  5. Cheers guys will call BCA today so u cant just send an old dog to auction with a full and frank description and expect it to at least get u back the trade money u paid for it? without having to warranty or be responsible for it and avoid any returns?
  6. Just wondering what you guys do with them we're finding ourselves with a few too many less desiresble cars and wondered what u guys do when you get the "old dogs" in? no one really wants to be spending time selling a car for £50 profit which is most likely going to be attracting people thinking their £300 car should be immacculate. So if you get an old thing, noisy, rattling, oil leaks, wear and tear etc do you just send to auction or ebay/gumtree? Prob with the latter 2 is youre still selling as a trader even if you've advertised it with all the faults so could end up having to refund it!!!
  7. So i've never bought or sold at auctions so this area is quite new. I know main main dealers just all p ex cars to auction question is do many smaller traders do this with cheaper stuff that is probably more grief than its worth selling? If so how do you go about selling to an auction house please? Do you drive the car to them or they collect? Do you just tell them what u want for the car like an ebay reserve and whatever it makes as long as it hits that reserve is what u get? What about their fees? thanks in advance. Just being offered a few crappers that i sometimes "have" to buy along the way which id rather not sit on and retail too much
  8. Seem to be lots of people trading from farms and/or yards and outbuildings of their big homes and gardens at the moment. I supose it must work for them and they get to keep all their cars in one place and up their inventory of stock would much rather have a nice roadside sales plot though for passing traffic
  9. Thanks mate going to look into pro next week as im doing £17.99 per car at minute for a 10 day auction with reserve
  10. Currently been doing auction with a reserve. I will look to do classified for next car to compare. I dont have a pro account - is it easy to upgrade?
  11. Do u just do auction ads or classified? ebay pro account or normal?
  12. How much is ebay pro? What do u get for it please as toying with that myself
  13. Good points guys thanks yeah finding ebay better at the moment. Facebook and AT pretty dead.
  14. Hi thanks. It has a lovely lake nearby so dont want to fence off really. Has toilets and out buildings for paperwork. I have jump leads and my car if need to jump start. Just looking into banners flags and signs. Bit of a minefield !! im 95% decided to give it a go now and get 8-12 cars bought to make it look nice
  15. So we have an AT trade account but not a contract we always make sure we arr prices within the top 5 cheapest if u click sort in price order. Question is do people actually bother to "sort" becuase we wont be near the top in the natural list with sponsor ads at top. I feel the cars we list are good quality, great pics, desireable and well priced. But they dont seem to generate many calls does AT not really work unless you plough the very high costs of a contract??
  16. Love your FB setup may i ask how you built up your followers so well? also, we would like to specialise in sports performance but wondered where to start exploring in terms of finding a good supply for this type of stock over run of the mill type cars?
  17. Thanks. Have u used them? Much traffic?
  18. How much are motors ads? how do you get ads on cargurus or auto village? They must be fed in from somewhere
  19. Thanks guys duely noted issue im having today is trade insurance wont cover the plot as its gated from the road but not all around the plot as its part of a farm so one side is open to the woodland is it possible to get this type of plot covered without needed steering locks and wheel clamps to pass the underwritters
  20. Thanks a lot guys i am pitching my proposal on a £x amount per car sold as the rent = no sales no big drama. I know a couple people with suitable land that "might" be interested in just gaining some money for their land but they arent greedy. It would be appointment only so dont need to be there full time unless wanted. *************** What are good things to use to "tart up" a basic piece of land into a nice car show ground?? Flags, banners etc? Where do u guys get these things? does it matter if the pitch is not visible from the main road? *************** im at the stage where 2-3 cars is max from home but sometimes i might be able to get say 5-6 hence looking whether to expand and really try and make a good go of how far we can grow
  21. Thanks guys so the one we had looked at is close to a main A road but not quite visible due to the main road barriers. I can use it as a showground/plot and it will probably host 10-15 cars. I can use an outbuilding as an office if need be to finalise paperwork it is in nice woodland/lake setting and it just has a nice feel its just an expense i dont currently have so trying to work out if the outlay (£tbc) is worthwhile or to remain a trader from home with low overheads but potentially not the best forecourt!
  22. Good point. We are in the south east i guess its a storeage plot but a sales plot all rolled in to one. Just not roadside visibility but brilliant location and plenty of space and nice settings
