  1. Sometimes we have to buy cheap/junk/almost scrap cars to ensure we also get fair share of the “good stuff”. Id rather flip these straight on trade 2 trade rather than sell/ebay myself would be good to find 1 or 2 traders who love these kind of cars. Probably most will be £200-£1250 area and most likely pretty crap!! Based gatwick/brighton region so thought worth asking
  2. Just didnt want to risk something that “might” be a short journey car really
  3. I’ve walked away every time i’ve seen a car like it. Was told recently if you check dipstick and its just oily then head gasket is fine but if dipstick has mayo gunk then its bad news. Shame as i walked away from a nice mini cooper clubman last month as it had this eggy filler cap and i dont want the hassle of risking anything!!
  4. How do you guys view this when looking for stock. Car runs fine, pop open the filler cap and its full of mayo eggy slush around the cap. Walk away from what looks like head gasket problem or deem it to just be condensation?
  5. Thanks mate may well send you a pm if anything comes in. I think ideally im looking for someone to trade cars to that will pretty much take anything sub £1,000-£1,250. Even if they are old or tatty etc with no s/history and high mileage just so i dont need to worry about how to retail them out again.
  6. Exactly the kind of trader i could do with mate. But unfortunately we’re down south gatwick/brighton area im afraid.
  7. Whats the best practice? when you buy from dealerships you usually have to take some “less desirable” cars along with the gems. The cars you really dont want but have to keep good relations. What do you do with these? A full frank ebay ad works sometimes but just opens you up to arseholes expecting the world and generally just wasting your time for a car you’re barely breaking even on. I guess its good to find local traders that you can just flip them on to but again most traders dont want to take the junky stuff.
  8. Have had quite a lot of sucess auction selling on ebay with a reserve from £750 cars to £5,500 cars. Rather use AT but ebay does generate a lot of interest albeit not always lots of decent interest!
  9. So quiet im contemplating finding a couple of local traders to just trade on to. Flip the cars on for a smaller profit but keep the stock turning over! ebay bidding is even slow and people asking for cars at 25% of their worth!
  10. Slow as hell are most people still using only ebay and AT?
  11. Is January really “that” good though or more taking stock for feb?
  12. Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes that was my point on the more teccy stuff of the pdi forms does anyone have any basic or custom pdi forms they can share? I think its great to have some kind of pdi to go with a sale
  13. Wondered how you guys doing Pdi checks on cars manage it if not a mechanic/good around an engine and also dont have a garage on site? home traders and small setups? do you just do a new mot and have that as your peace of mind? The pdi forms from lawgistics look great but obviously have some detailed sections of it that you probably cant sign off without some basic mechanic knowledge do you just take to your local mechanic to check it all off?
  14. Dead as a dead thing on a dead street. December is not likely to improve either is it? Feb time maybe...?
  15. Dead as a dead thing in a dead street this november. Even the cheapy 2-3k small engined first time cars arent getting much traction. Is this one of the worst novembers?? what months do you find the worst of the year? Nov & Dec as standard or any wierd patterns?
  16. Gut feeling 100% on this one. In no way desperate to shift stock!!
  17. No offence taken mate. Although i didnt say my business model is to make £250 per car this just so happens to be a car ive had a few weeks and would rather get some cash back on it during such a crap quiet month
  18. 320 mile round journey for a car with around £250 profit left in it. No way my adverts are always very honest and overly highlight every little negative i can find. Most people turn up and are pleasantly suprised at the condition which is a bonus
  19. For some reason my gut says no so im gonna refuse the offer. Too much hassle potential and on a car which im sure there are loads of closer to his home too anyway. Just want a quiet life
  20. Thanks guys. Being nov and fairly quiet i am keen to sell it but im really not sure if its going to end up more aggro. Not sure how they can sign reciept and log book?
  21. What are your views? Client called and lives around 160 miles from us. Said they really like the car and full and frank description for their wife but may not be able to come down to buy it. Asked if we would be happy for them to send a recovery truck or transporter to collet for them if we can agree a price. They’d pay by bank transfer in advance. I said id much prefer they viewing and drove the car first but appreciate thats not always possible. What are your views? What would you do?
  22. We had lots of joy with a vw caddy on AT vans listing. Would stock loads if i could.
