Just bought a 45k Nisan Note 1.4 petrol auto and when driving it back from auction noticed a grating/catching noise. Thinking something had come adrift on the suspension or brakes booked into my local repairer. He has rang today to say everything is ok underneath but he thinks its a noise from the gearbox? I never had much to do with these Note auto's as normally buy them in manual. Ive got a good contact for gearbox repairs but he doesn't touch auto boxes. Any clues anybody to what it might be?...........Thanks

Not a good thing those boxes , Need an Auto box guy , not many box repairers do both manual and auto .

As already said its not just women, over the years stopped and help many change wheels, both men and women. many have no idea where to start. .. But if you think about it even if you don't know would be easy to watch Youtube and attempt if you were stuck, but they are just not interested and will wait for hours to be rescused ( thats when they have a spare in the boot) ..Don't forget the 'locking bolt' .. times customers tell us in the workshop they've left it at home safe ........ a 2 minute job tunns into a nightmare/ abort job or re-book back !!

    Hi Umesh

My daughter has a guy that comes every month for her to check his oil , complete useless type of guy and even his girlfriend says hes hopeless . He bought a Polo GTI off of us and hes terrified of it .

Have you noticed most of the BCA stock is marked with engine problems. Never seen so many cars with engine problems. Ive had one come through the other day where it said engine was smoking. Had it delivered drove it around no smoke at all. Has just passed its MOT with no work needed and a new service put on it.

Youtube tyrekickers guy thinks it some legal advise as they will stop any comebacks in case the car goes bad.. or something along those lines.

Dont believe much at all from BCA , the assessors and RAC techs haven't a clue what day it is , wouldn't know a clack from a click none of them .

Just had 2 letters demanding 2 lots of £115 within 5 days from a debt collection agency for a car that was sold some time back. The car came with no V5 so I applied for one in the garages name. It was sold  to a customer in London 100 miles away.

The change of ownership was made on the V5 and posted to DVLA 7 months ago with the new owners details (I presume the parking offence was committed between the invoice date and the date DVLA changed the keepers details)

I spoke to the collection agency saying that I have the invoice for the sale with the date confirming it was not owned by me when the parkihg offence was committed all they said was it must be paid within 5 days to avoid baliffs.

I have not had any parking charge notice previously from the company that instructed the debt collection agency.

The debt collection agency say that although the invoice shows the date of sale - it might not have been delivered untill after the offence.

The details they got from DVLA at the time must have shown my garage as the registered keeper even though I have proof that I was not the owner at that time.

They insist on payment for both within 5 days or they will instruct baliffs to visit and seize goods - on their letter it states that this will cost me £276 for each letter and when the goods are auctioned off there is a further charge of £110 to cover auction fees.

Surely this cant happen without a court case

sales invoice sorts this out , email them stating not in your ownership , new keeper details enclosed , end of . had a few and Invoice showing date and new keeper ends it .

Anyone know an insurance company that will except a trade policy no claims bonus on to a private insurance? I've not insured a car privately for 5 years

NFU will look that I'm sure, as will Direct Line .

Both of those companies have honoured trade insurance no claims with two guys i know of .

You have to be the insurance named person though .

That was a couple of years ago mind

I brought a car from BCA on 8th August Kia Proceed.

Was brought through UKCGR Trade. Had it delivered at the mechanics i usually used and its been there for a few days. Just went to collect the paper work for the car and on the plastic file they put the keys ,V5 etc in they have written down on there its "NON RUNNER" but at the time of bidding this was not disclosed just it requires some attention. Can i make a claim against them stating they did not advertise correctly?

I would be on the phone to BCA  if that's the case .

Repair or they fetch it back is whats needed .

Hi was thinking about starting to use a warrantywise and was wondering if anyone with some experience with these company’s could answer a few questions. Any help would be appreciated. I mainly sell cheap cars (under £3000) . If I sell a car and something goes wrong within the first month, will they automatically send it back to me or does warrantywise deal with the customer. Also if I sold a 12 month warranty and 10 months down the line there’s an issue do I still hear about it or do they deal with the customer themselves? Thanks .

In my experience warranty wise are useless .

Used them a while ago and they rang us up to say you haven't bought enough warranties off us , stopped us .

two issues we had with customers we sorted too as they dismissed the claim , although it was supposed to be covered , Air con pump and an Alternator .

Try TMO , The Motoring Organisation , Far better Company 0333 0155 214

They offer free AA cover too , great selling point

Car Guru might be worth a punt?

Total waste of money is Car Guru ,

All you will get is weird named enquiries which is obviously false , plus punters can see how long you have had the car , Car Guru pricing is just ridiculous too and telling punters what cars are worth is insulting to us trader if I'm honest .

Learn how to use Auto trader to best effect , Pay as you go will by default give less response than a basic package ,

Funny you say about fees, I don’t get how they get away being so secretive over fees , does everyone on the same card pay same fees or have some people managed to get theirs lower ?

At BCA same card same fees apply

All Gold cards are same fees

    Platinum same .

The higher the card though the costs for other things like assured / essential reports are less too , used to get free breakfasts in the old days and better parking but that's gone now :(

I’m just wondering how dealers with 50+ cars are finding their stock as dont think buying privately is near efficient enough. Are they just bidding on anything?

One person on research all day every day . No one just bids on anything for long as they go out of business like lightning .

Private purchases is a very slow way in my opinion

    Good afternoon guys,

Ive noticed that all cars that are purchased from UKCGR come without any invoices for work carried out which is a shame as some that we have purchased have appeared to have been really cherished.

Is the due to GDPR or is there a way of getting hold of it?

    Thanks in advance.

More down to last owner I think more than BCA UKC GR

BCA pass on the docs as weve had a lot full of paper work , others just a service book . Down to luck of what you buy . Remember the last owners are mostly thick

David, if only you had known back in 12/2019 how accurate that was, although like me you probably did know that back then

Sure we all knew writing was on the wall, but bugger me for the speed of the outcome .....................................

That was the whole reason for the "invention of covid", just look at how many stupid new laws etc slipped through during the past 2 years because everyone was too busy working out how to get exemptions from wearing their masks, or too scared to set foot outta their house !!

Now no fucker has a choice in anything any more, (well not long term anyhow) ;)

Even those that were not multi millionaires but still pretty well self sufficient financially are now not so sure bearing in mind the current state of the world, it's not just the UK ;)

Even my very successful and good mate in this trade  has sold his Helicopter and downgraded to a Plane

Call me a conspiricist if you like, but it's all coming true now

Anyone wanna invest in a Petrol / Diesel zero emissions "replacement Fuel" Mfr Plant ;)

I am a sceptic Dave , Saw it coming I did ,  I say I saw it coming

Hi guys hope you are all well,

Had a car booked in for delivery, through Dealer Portal Moving.

However the night before the EML light came on so had to cancel the move.

Ive just received an invoice from the moving company asking for the full amount (which is double what I’ve been reqouted from another company)

I’m happy to pay the profit margin they had on the move however feel its a bit unfair to be charged full whack.

Where do I stand legally with this invoice?

Look forward to seeing your replys

I suppose there's a time limit to cancel , leaving them to organise the lift and then have it cancelled night before  would be annoying as we all know .

As you say there would be a fuel charge they didn't use so maybe half payment to cover staff might have been the way forward .

Legally it will have the T&C's contract somewhere that says what cancellation at short notice would be .

Regarding the other quote that has nothing to do with it really .

Peugeot recommend no oil additives for their oily belt engine, thing is once it goes out of dealer servicing it goes to a garage that the first thing they do is ram an engine conditioner (their words) in it as un up sell, they are good garages they say, I stopped adding additives when I stopped using 20/50 in old shitters to quieten the big ends on startup

Never used any oil additive , Just use GOOD oil .

Makes sense i suppose with oil soaked cam belts . weird idea that one though .
