If i remember correctly aftermarket seats fitted in the rear of a panel van do not get checked on an MOT.

    Unless things have changed?

Seats fitted to the rear of the drivers compartment in a goods vehicle are not required to be fitted with seat belts unless the seat is the specified front passenger seat [ ie] no front passenger seat like a london taxi?

but sell it as a 3 seater anyway

put the seats on ebay, might sell before the van :D

  4. Going along this line here of the messages, i am thinking of late there are quite a few, what i call part time traders, they scan the cheapies and offer even less, thinking they can make a bob or two, usually the difference between what they want to give you for it, lets say £500 and what you want for it £795 [295]. i think this because a few times if you do go down the line of responding you get the message "whereabouts r u ? " etc .

    thoughts ?

I would happily pay £30 for a solicitors letter in an attempt to get it removed, but I don't have his surname or address, only his first name and mobile number....

Phone him very enthusiastically, you need to confirm his address with the prize he won, free beans for the next year or something

I am currently in a text message conversation with a chap over one of our p/xs this has been going on for several days now. Basically got it on the bay at £795 and he has offered me £500 as that is all he has got. I told him i can do it for £650 to clear it and that is it....but...he only has £500 and has told me this now around 5 or 6 times and i have told him 5 or 6 times it needs to be £650.

I am all for helping people out where i can but some people just do not get it do they ?

i bet you can gurantee sure as eggs is eggs that if you said yes to £500 he wouldnt show.

  7. Never ever rely on the dvla, they lull you into a false sense of security, everything goes swimmingly for months, v5s turning up in 5 days, then you take a depo on  a car and working on past reliance on v5 turning up  you promise the customer thursday, and thursday doesnt happen, on monday your on the phone, gladys tells you that you can tax it at post office when you cant and by  wednesday punters screaming for his depo back, gets his depo back friday , and v5 turns up saturday, i have the scars :(

  8. They say your never more than 6 foot away from a rat  well years ago we did a very foolish thing, we spotted one in our workshop, and then another [ thinking back it was the same one lol ]. We had a very smokey car at the time, oil burning scrapper fiesta i think it was, somebodies brainwave was to smoke em out [ mine  ] . Why not brick on accelarator to 3/4 then shut doors ? leave it for half hour, enjoy the day outside? Only thing we acheived was observing all the little holes in the roof from outside and we only just stopped neighbours from calling fire brigade :D:D

  9. imagine getting a pay packet  imagine looking in your bank account and seeing additional money every month  imagine looking at a payslip and someones already paid your tax and ni  imagine turning off your brain at five pm  imagine not working sat or sunday :D

Why would I need to do that? I've already got a job, in fact, I'll soon have two jobs as it happens. If I get into the motor trade, then I'll have 3 jobs. I don't like sitting on my arse mate. If I could earn money while I'm sleeping, id feckin do it.

so when can you actually be available to "sell" these cars ? average time to make a sale is lets say a hour including test drive ? lets assume they buy it, then they tell you theyre coming at 5 to collect and dont turn up till 5.45 then another lets say half hour, paperwork, smiles handshakes bla bla, thats 2 and a quarter hours very very minimum youve spent selling one car, and thats in a ideal world .its not about the money its the chase ;)..........

A local garage that you use employs three mechanics and is not vat registered ?

  12. Nip it in the bud is what i do, as in, your sales invoice . A clearly worded sales invoice could stop all this or certainly slow it down, words like [1] " whom to contact  first in any instance" [you], [2] " i understand i am purchasing a used product that may have faults consistent with its age" [ its not new]. [3] "i have inspected the vehicle ".[ok, wont show a faulty gearbox for example, but does stop them saying tyres are low in 3 months time ].

Gotta remember these people speak / google other people before contacting you, and are mostly  poorly advised, and theyre told to contact you, where they let off both barrels, a carefully worded sales invoice that doesnt withdraw their rights goes a long long way ;)

  13. you have excellent defense , you the retailer have strong proof fault wast present at time of sale, [ onus is on retailer in first six months to prove fault wasn't present at time of sale] hes also ignored your and the warranty companies advice by continuing driving the vehicle and damaging the vehicle further, a well written letter to the consumer explaining this may keep you out of the courts to start with.

  14. had a customer waiting outside this morning :) test drive, deposit, all done for nine forty.

been a long time since i can remember someone waiting on the door, youll never ever suss this job out

I am willing to give it a go, I intend to use it for driving leads and applications to the website, so someone see's a car as a point of interest on gum tree (from £20pw etc) , see what services we offer, clicks to the site and puts a application in.

sounds spot on for gumtree to me

Thanks gents and apologies for my delayed acknowledgement, for some reason my notifications haven't been reaching my email account?!? Anyway some valid points I hadn't considered, that being the case I am going to have a chat with them and reach a mutually beneficial agreement taking into account what you have said.

Interesting the point made about lawgistics as they actually have an SOR template in their members area for download?

    Si

he didn't use the template maybe ?

  17. Nice one, one up against them, :D its all made too simple and easy for these folk now you can make a claim online which i presume they did. They claim in haste which fortunately youve found a mistake in, and thats how you win ! You should get a letter soon either stating the claim has been struck out or dismissed, to alter your name to ltd company requires a judges permission, the reason for them being late needs a very very good excsuse too, normally letter from a doctor, there was loads of cases to do when you arrived so 99% theyve told them case dismissed , reapply or on your bike !:D
