They have been around for over 10 years under different names, they source purely from BCA.

I think everything is sold on a scrap invoice now.

Old name was Sterling Cars, Reading.

Is why the trades got a bad name, withdrawing consumer rights, but ! scroll to bottom of advert [ not that many customers do that ] and we see =  Returns will be accepted as per the requirements of the Consumer Rights Act 2015

ANY warranty is in addition to a consumers rights, it doesnt replace them.

a full pdi and fresh mot on EVERY car sold, the pdi sheet to be shown to consumer and signed that he/she read it.

consumers must test drive / driven in  car before sale.

a substantial sales invoice should be produced [ forget sold as seen trade sale etc] and signed.

what if a clutch goes after 2 months for example? then you go back to the pdi and sales invoice and test drive !

PDI = the clutch was consistent with a * year old ***** mileage car!  [signed for]

ON the test drive the clutch showed no faults [ signed for]

on the sales invoice no faults were brought to your attention [ signed for ] !

I UNDERSTAND I AM PURCHASING A USED CAR THAT MAY HAVE FAULTS CONSISTENT WITH A USED ITEM !

I don't accept that the dealer is always in the wrong and I will stand my ground.

If the cars right when it goes out and I,m confident my cars are, and the customer has declined an extended warranty, then after the statutory 30 day period they are on their own within reason. A head gasket goes 6 weeks after purchase and the customer has the right attitude I,ll probably repair it, after 3 months I would offer a contribution. Again depending on attitude, but I would not feel under obligation to do so.

We need to stand up for ourselves.

Misleading just as much as when a car hasn't had any structural damage and the insurer decides not to repair. There would be no value in a repaired cat s car nows, but with these salvage auction and overseas buyers, and the cat N cars that will fetch much higher money now, I think insurers will be rubbing their hands with glee!

cant find the link but a major salvage dealer pulled out 100 cat  d vehicles from there compound in a trial, reinspecting them with regard to looking at the new salvage codes and found that 70% of cat d would be "s" and reported to insurance companies there findings before this new legislation, the salvage company quite rightly said to these companies they cant quote values on cat s [ obviously not as much as cat d ] the market will value it itself in the coming months, it was a warning :)

No cat C/D cars could have had any amount of structural damage to the chassis, frame. People sometimes automatically think that all cat c cars had structural damage, and all cat D cars had none, not true. There are cat D cars that have been bent so badly they should never be repaired and there are cat c cars that have light deep scratches  on the side. It will put to bed all those dodgy salvage dealers that pull a cat D car straight then sell the same car as salvage claiming it had no chassis damage. So basically when it has an S there's no hiding from the fact the car has had structural damage.

    correct :)

Salvage with damage to the structural parts (realignment to original dimensions or replacement of frame or chassis) of the vehicle will now be category S (S for Structural).

is not correct ! this is VERY misleading its actually =  has sustained damage to any part of the structural frame or chassis and the insurer/ self-insured owner has decided not to repair the vehicle !

so whats the value of a vehicle stating structual damage ?

and how much will your insurance increase when the companies [insurance] dont get the returns [ high] expected when they cat s a vehicle ?

384,000 vehicles were written off last year, amounting to over 1,000 every day, or one every 90 seconds

I've not had one...feeling left out now.

So is this basically main dealers including road tax in a deal and getting admin to tax the car on the company account? Then when it gets cancelled after 12 months or whatever the deal was the customer forgets they need to pay for it themselves and scream when they get a fine?

or the dishonest dealer including twelve month tax and only making first payment and changing his mobile / address  ;)

our responsibility as a trader to tell customers cars need taxing before they leave your property

so, this could lead from responsibility to actual fine in years to come ? its always the same, stick your head up and do the job right and be burdened with paperwork, sell it on a private ad and tell customers " i just do it on side" and no one cares

This trade has changed beyond all recognition since the 90's when you could sell a nut 'n bolt out of the SE Trader.

Seriously, there must be easier ways to earn a not so great living. If I knew years ago what I knew now, I think I'd have chosen a different career.

Its quite true  what he says you know chaps, think back, you only had one pic and 20? words for the description, and it sold before sunday if it was right ! nowadays its 20 pics, good feedback, web sites, warranties, credit, consumer rights, credit cards, impossible demands from punters, not to mention the leg in part ex........

  9. its a very good idea and  known quite a few do it, and still do, but faced with choice a consumer will walk away, DO NOT LET THEM SEE ALL YOUR STOCK ! split up your stock, show 3 different colours, dont let them see the others until they definetly dont want the first 3 ! if you havent got the room to divide them throw a sold sign in the window of the one they havent come to view! Trust me here, too much choice and there head spins and they walk ! :)

It just got a little weirder. The reason for the post was that i received a letter by recorded delivery this morning stating i had to put the car right or money back etc and he had been advised not to drive the car as it was not safe. Consumer rights were quoted and a copy of the Honda invoice for diagnostics was attached. Having now spoken to Honda they say they just reset the fault code and asked him to monitor to see if it comes back on! So now i write to him to see who has advised not to drive the car and if the light has come back on?

wonder what the fault code is ?  i have had a few fault lights come on with just sold cars, no signs before, it can be folk not used to the car and caused by there driving, wrong gear, [ labouring engine] missed gear [over rev] etc.

if you ve been asked to put the car right or refund and car has not shown light since then youve put it right havent you ? :D

check hes insured and taxed car by the way, he maybe just doesnt like the car ;)

    Thanks guys duely noted

issue im having today is trade insurance wont cover the plot as its gated from the road but not all around the plot as its part of a farm so one side is open to the woodland

is it possible to get this type of plot covered without needed steering locks and wheel clamps to pass the underwritters

fence it off yourself ? water on site ? customer toilets on site ? electric [ recharge jump pack ] ? could probably decorate the place for around £2k, banners flags BALLOONS :lol:cctv ? good padlocks are £75, its one you need to really think about deeply :)
