These basic questions are answered on the v5c itself especially p/ex, my advice, do it online, you will get email confirmation, wait a few days, let punter get settled into car
Staple the log book to sales invoice ( your copy), and store.

Just catching up on the magazines piece on can we open in the title tier 1 2 3 ?
Well sorry James batchelor it is not "business as usual, carry on as normal" !
Tier 3 is avoid travel unless its for work, education or care. People not in tier 3 should avoid travelling into tier 1 and 2
You guessed ! I am in tier 3 !
Lockdown none essential retail now all in tier 3 !

One of the factors is do you have a ready reply for the question "why is there no service history ? "
Some people think no service history means the car has never had a service, then you get people who want it cheaper because you've answered the question "has it got fsh?" With a no, Despite the price allowing for no history available, and I have had many a person put the phone down hoping I had made a mistake and not put fsh in ad.

I recently had this issue with a distant friend and thought will not be doing that again
add 3month that the buyer may return with a fault covered by warranty or not adds the grief factor

Great, really good, thankyou.

The bounce back loans are meant to be 25% of the previous years turnover, but no-one is checking.
If your company was registered 28th Feb 2020, you would be eligible, but how would they calculate what 25% of your turnover was?
There are plenty of people out there who have set up a business that has never really traded and they have been granted the full £50k
I know someone who has claimed £150k as he had 3 separate businesses. Why wouldn't he?
We will all pay for it down the line....
To keep it simple, I am just stating that marc is not entitled to a bbl as he states he has just entered self employment

23 hours ago, marc_p said:Hi Guys,
Thought I'd put a little update on this, I finally handed in my notice at work to go full time (last day is tomorrow), I wanted to start earlier but obviously that whole COVID thing got in the way. Managed to get myself a small 5 car unit, it's a cheap and a great starter unit, plus it's next to a bunch of other automotive companies including a friend of mine who has a much larger and more impressive unit and has said I can have his office and trade out of his unit if I want (he's a detailer so has no use for an office).
Regarding how the car selling has been going, I'm still sticking to my BMWs but so far (touch wood) all have been attracting wonderful buyers with only the X5s occasionally getting the 'what's you best price mate' calls, which I usually just respond with the asking price. I'm still at the lower end (circa £5k cars), but all the cars sold so far have all gone to the first person who viewed them and all within 5 days of advertising them with healthy margins to boot (averaging around £1k per car).
I have learnt a few things so far, mainly is that the car auctions seem a bit of a joke, I went to a couple with the intention of just sitting back and watching how it all operated, but I was quite shocked to see what price the cars were going for, I think I'd struggle to make anything on an auction car!! So I've stuck with just using ebay and hunting out the cars that I know I can turn into wonderful looking examples with a few hours work. I did also get one off Facebook Marketplace that was so cheap I thought it was worth a punt (2008 318d, 102k miles, £1300), but I'm still chasing issues around the car, it's also reminded me why I stay away from 4cyl BMWs and just stick with my straight 6's (and occasional V8's).
Next step is to get myself FCA approved as I want to move to the £15-20k market, but this will be harder without being able to offer finance. Also trying to get myself a bounce back loan for more stock, I thought I'd wait when it was originally announced as I didn't need the money right then, but it seems to be severely back logged now!
Cheers
Marc
Re bounce back loan, were you trading before the 1st of March 2020 ? Was your business affected by corona ? Bb loan is 25% of last years turnover, sorry but if it was that easy everyone and his son would be registering themselves as self employed and getting cheap loans, also, there is no back log.
Good luck with your new venture.

who the hell is making a living paying these sky high prices for stock ?
Are these cars missing out on refurbishment as we all know a pdi a service and a full mot increases the overall spend ?
Maybe just turning money over ? But that doesn't replace tools, repair the ròof etc .
And Yet I am finding business really slow at the moment? Except the chap (I'm not a messer mate) who rang at nine this Sunday morning.
Because I offer my customers next years mot and service at a reasonable cost only these customers are coming through the door at the moment, honestly pissed off, can't see the light at the end of the tunnel to be honest with more lockdowns approaching ?
So there's a happy post for you comments welcome

Just catching up on the podcasts and listened to the 10 month warranty one, amazing that i think as a trader is it just me that gets these people? No! so many good bits in that podcast !
The piece about deposits, david if I may, it's not really being pushy asking for a deposit, if I can offer some advice ? Asking for a deposit is reminding the customer that the car is out there with a for sale board in it and possibly also advertised ! Ask / remind the customer how they first saw it ? And that's how the next person might ! I have had daughters in tears when daddies come back 6 hour later, after " looking at some others" and seriously it wasn't nice poor lass! The sold board they thought was a joke, I had to show them the sold invoice! If they say they have only got twenty pounds in there wallet, take it for 24 hour, if they refuse, you certainly know where you stand
Thanks again by the way
