Well month 1 gone with Motors.co.uk and they've sadly provided me with the same amount of clean sheets the 3rd choice Newcastle goalkeeper has kept since the 1st choice and 2nd choice goalkeeper got injured, sorry i could have just said 0. Anyways we are also in a 3 month trial so will continue to see what happens, we' have had 2/3 Autotrader leads and we are seeing high web traffic from Autotrader still to our site and very little from Motors.co.uk. So at the moment Auotrader is the better option for leads, but value you for money is a different conversation, I will update end of January. Happy new year guys!!!

Setting up a workshop. Any advice appreciated.
williamblackshaw replied to sparky's topic in General Dealer Chat
Shaun are you and Sparky "check mates"? bum dum Sparky you can lease most equipment, air con, wheel balance, MOT ramps which might be a thought to get going then purchase after a few years of trading when things are hopefully going well -
Your workshop - is it important?
williamblackshaw replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
Workshops are extremely important for a number of reasons * Firstly a chance and requirement to look after customers whom have just purchased a vehicle so ensure they are looked after * A chance for when a customer hasn't bought the vehicle from you but visit for service or repair to make a good impression for a future purchase * Generates foot fall * If done correctly has high gross profits on labour and oil sales * generates parts sales if you operate a parts department * Biggest issue is when loosing a technician it's hard to replace with good quality, we continuously employ new apprentices to try bridge this * Price of servicing is hard to justify as every service in theory can be different, some are just an oil filter change some wheels off and brakes stripped cleaned etc, difficult for customers to know are they getting like for like * Issues with latest car faults a lot of the time are relating to software updates so dealers can not repair until software updates are available from manufacturer * youtube now shows how to self repair vehicles The list could go on -

I think you need to continue off from last time but add things that help the actual business aswell as industry, also, and others might disagree, just feedback, why not try get more speakers who have 20 mins and do 3 sessions but then people can choose which one they wish to attend, if you have someone discussing bodyshop and someone discussing SEO at the same time you could choose which class to go in, the hot spots were to short Have a good range like in NADA I will be attending the energy and marketing shows so can feedback if you'd like? -

Also something non motortrade related that we could use in the trade, for example, how does a supermarket contorl stock and could we learn something? Best social media idea of the month? Any new sites just built? -

Magazine best bits: Stories about dealers, their history The law bit, is always good and use to have more examples which was a shame it got cut back Would like to see more product reviews, e.g Contact Advantage new software or Pinewood latest updates, or EMACs new Evolve system or the key tracker system Best practice guides on various processes, for example, how do x y z present GAP?
