I sold 230 last year as a one man band, 34 in January 2018 so probably the more you sell/buy the more go wrong, in all fairness i'm not at the price point where I buy low mileage German diesels, i once was and I can recall the precious wankers you dealt with Last year I'll have had (I think) 6 refunds on cars that were beyond repair and they got shunted in the auction, the secret is to refund quickly, wipe your mouth and then move, keeps the customers happy and stops you dwelling on the loss ps and around 8 pints a night you need any checking tomorrow? sounds about right Simon

Rotec Multisol perfect to get rid of overspray. Worth having a tin knocking about. I think that a decent dealer and decent bodyshop can have a good working relationship. We always have cars that need prep and can keep them going with some regular work. They make more off the general public who come in for a car park scuff and then they never see them again whereas we pay the overheads. Couple of traders jobs soon have your monthly costs / wages covered. I find a pack of biscuits, crate of beer etc every so often goes a little way towards showing we appreciate the good work they do.

So far this week I managed to buy a mini clubman diesel 2007 86k on eBay for a steal of £2600 and sold yesterday for £3500 (which evidently was way to cheap as the phone didn’t stop ringing for it) after a quick mot and PDI - and bought a 57 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI with 89k for £5100 which is absolutely mint - and sold also yesterday for £6495. these cars would of gone for absolute silly money at the auction houses...

Good painters who do trade work are hard to find.If you have one, look after them and pay them well and on time because often traders give them a hard time, so they pack in and do something else.Painting cars is an awful job, when you think about it,if you had a paint shop, you would not want to do trade work when you can easily undercut the big paint shop guys who charge £500 a panel .....So IMO if there is a bit of overspray just deal with it.
