Every cloud....

Like a twat. I needed some rubber gloves that we use at work from out of my car. I placed the key in my pocket (keyless entry/start) and proceeded into the garden to do some gardening and digging. That evening, as usual, I got undressed in the kitchen and put all my clothes straight in the washer.....You guessed it, the Jag key still in pocket, full 5.15hr wash plus steam cycle. Didn't realise until I heard the tumble drier throwing the key around. So does the key work?............................................

Yes and No. Car was left unlocked but remote fob doesn't work. The only way it works is to insert the key into the centre armrest port and that started the engine. Starting that 5 V8 and having a few throttle blips was my favourite 30 seconds of the past 3 weeks .

Still have a knackered key though - hey ho.

Can't beat an old  escort, lollipop to get in,screwdriver to start it

Leave it anywhere in its Roman bronze paint and rust and it was still there on your return

I must get a tax disc though because I've just run it over the last month without renewing it,just tell the hobbies you never realised:D

Happy days

No. By 2040 all new cars will be electric and most of them will be Chinese brands. China makes by far most of the world's electric car batteries and controls 95% of the mining rights for the various metals required for battery and motor production.  Companies like BYD are doing very well (heavily backed by Warren Buffet). Expect to see a BYD dealership in your town within the next five years. I've driven a couple of BYD cars and they are fine. The likes of Tesla will end up the Alfa Romeo of the electric car industry.

The only thing holding back China is limited production capacity and lack of resources (which is why they are buying up most of SE Asia, Africa and having a good go in Australia).  I've been to China a few times and they scare hell out of me. No regard for the environment, human rights or in fact anything other than money and market share. Totally ruthless in business.

Is Panasonic Chinese? I thought it was Japanese?

Panasonic is Japanese and they are making batteries for Tesla, but the Chinese (CATL) are bigger and growing much faster.  Like I said, Tesla make a lot of noise but they are the Alfa Romeo of EV's.  CATL are about to open a $2bn battery factory in Germany to supply batteries for BMW and Mercedes. They are set to supply just about every else apart from the Koreans.

The Chinese have now got control of most of the worlds supply of cobalt, which is essential for EV construction.

So are you still saying that China makes 'by far most of the world's electric batteries'?
