Steering Wheel Refurb

Recommended Posts

Have any of you guys succesfully refurbished or had refurbished a steering wheel surround?

Leather type is easy, I'm talking about the cheapie vinyl type peeling off.

One of mine looks mint except for a worn gear shift (easy swap out) and a worn, peeling steering wheel.  Obviously, I don't want to put a naff cover on it but is there something you can apply, spray on, wrap etc that will smarten things up.  Someone with builders hands must have owned it at some point.

Cheers

I dont know of a cheap repair on the non leather sort, would be interested to find out if there is one! On the occasion where its been so bad, I've bought a wheel off ebay.

My interior guy can do them, I think it involves spraying in some fashion.

He did a great job on a Qashqai for me. So maybe try a local interior repair guy?

Think they all go on Qashqai's tbh, 6-10 years old.

56 plate 4WD Tekna with 73K - very very tidy and pan roof.

Only remaining issue (besides steering wheel) is the keyless entry/start.  Key guy has managed to cut second key and program for remote CL but cannot get the "intelligent" key to talk to the car - just does not recognise the key(s) - any suggestions?

eBay. Berlingoes/Partners disintegrate for fun & very good replacements are usually £20-25 - it’s easier changing a steering wheel than twatting about trying to tightly sew a leather snake with a needle & thread.
