    This made me chuckle.

I don't see the huge difference in this period (Aug-Sep) from the last many years I've been doing this.  It's the period we're in.

I mentioned before some may do extremely well as it will be the right car, the right price at the right time for the right buyer.  We all have moments like that, it's a tremendous feeling.

The only thing I've noticed that is different, is the amount of good quality stock available at the moment.  That i turn has driven the prices up tremendously as we've all seen and the fact that there are some new "BIG" players in the used car market so they are no longer entering stock through the AH and are in turn reselling their own P/ex's as well as buying stock from the AH themselves.

It will all settle down and it will all pick up, there is no need for a major panick or conspiracy theory about Brexit and the likes, it's just the way business goes.  Take the Highs with the Lows.

Of course in your spare time review prices, review pictures, review articles, adverts, etc...  In my eyes, "Those that run a business and have spare time are not running a business correctly".

    Just my 2 cents

    Completely agree......

I'd give you a like if i could...

I would have kept my 1990 Miami Blue 205 1.9 Gti with 70k on the clock and countless MK2 Golf GTIs. I’d probably be retired by now if I had!

    Ha, you're not alone!

I had a mint 93 K Reg 205 GTi 1.9 in white, 58k miles, perfect history, sold it for £2500, which was strong money for it back then......!!

selling cars in my younger days was a good way to meet new potential females, I started off with Corsas and small hatches in my earlier twenties and it was a great resource, made sure my customer service was always on point:lol:

I am now getting married to a girl whom I sold her first car to :)

That must have been one hell of a Corsa?! ;)

I get that. I’m silver card trade and they sent me an email telling me I get access to the valuations. Are they supposed to show up as a button next to the mechanical report etc?

The prices should be on the right hand side as you look at the list of cars, or if you click on the individual vehicle, there should be a tab next to 'Vehicle Information' that say's 'Guide Pricing' assuming you've got access to it...

I noticed it on DA. £7600, 55 bids, reserve not met and it's not on my watch list so no idea if it sold. Staggering really.

Even more staggering though, how can anyone hate an orange or coffee revel?:D

:o:o Thought everyone hated the orange and coffee ones?! Bit like Bounty's in celebrations.....

You'll be telling me all you like Turkish Delight next...... (And yes I mean the chocolate variety, not some seedy massage parlour... )

I came in today to hand over a sold Fiesta at the allotted 10am appointment.

Arrived at 9.45 and in those 15 minutes, sold 3 more cars - now on my record month by a fair margin (VAT and profit )

    1 x Facebook

    1 x Ebay

And 1 to the father of the Ebay sale at the same time.

    I blame Brexit

    Nice!!

My enquiries are coming from all angles, FB, Ebay, CarGurus and Google itself.

If this continues, AT will remain in the past for me.

Well played! I'm sure there are many of us that would love to see that AT bill disappear!! Will also be interested to see how things pan out for you....

I called our rep yesterday and asked to have this taken off our account as a couple of our cars were showing a mileage discrepancy. He called in today and I asked him to show me how I can do normal paid for checks like we used to, he called the office for advice and was told it is no longer possible. They will remove all options to check a vehicle if you choose to opt out. Not a problem as we have an HPi account but surely a bit silly on their part. He was fuming and reckons they didn't think it through or trial it properly before launch. Now who'd have thought such a thing.

I have never, ever physically seen a rep, in fact i couldn't even tell you who my account manager is....!

  10. I think BCA will still give the invoices/receipts if they have them, as they list these in the description....

I think it's accepted that if the previous owner willingly passed the invoices over with the car, they are effectively giving their consent for them to be passed over is my understanding.

My MkII was an embarasment at the time - it was during a time that the MkII was a chavy car, back when many a Ford had the sun visors with Kevin and Tracy across the top of the screen and fluffy dice (mine was a standard Pop or Pop Plus).

I soon moved the car on and after driving my Grandad's Triumph Acclaim, I bought one in beige as by comparison, it was quick - I later bought an auto too to break for spares.

The Acclaim burned 5l oil per tank of fuel and my Dad taking pity on me gave me £3,500 to buy a 2 year old Maestro accident repaired from his mate - another boring car which after only a few weeks later I chopped back in to the same garage for an Orion Injection Ghia MkII. Now that was cool and for the first time in my life (and never since), I was cool - 18 and driving a car that many a middle aged man aspired to, let alone a spotty teenager still in college.

Anyway, kicked out of college for the second time (I was planning a career in medicine, big disspointment I am sure) I went off to work at Butlins and found immediate (shallow) fame because I had a nice car.  I fell in with a car crowd running 2.8 Capri's and my love for RWD was refound.  I gave my Dad the Orion for a few months and bought a Chevette 1256 (I think) just because it was RWD.  Returning from my season at Butlins, I was soon back in my Orion which I later sold to start my first venture in the motor trade - still 18.

First retail purchase a highly modified 1275GT - flame spitting rocket with a cherry bomb exhaust, then an XR3i and many other (at the time) desirable cars.

See, cars are either in your blood or not IMO.  Do I still like cars and driving? - Yes, as much as the day I passed my test.  I still get excited whenever a new car arrives, either a £100 PX or a £50K Range Rover.

The only thing that has never excited me and probably because I have little mechanical experience, is working on cars.  I don't have any mechanical skills but have become proficient over the years at diagnosing faults (except DS3) but still rely on someone else who can swing a spanner.

    Great post!

Decent Jan for us despite me moaning every day. People have been especially hard work of late.

One today on a mint 53 plate Rav, 17 stamps and two cambelt replacements...well it should have had three cambelts by now so i'll want a substantial discount! I wish that was an exception but they're all the same lately.

Short on stock and literally nothing about worth buying so might be a tepid start to Feb.

What a complete fool! Going to miss out on a really good car because they can't see further than the end of their nose.....

Deserves to go to a more appreciative punter!
